1st google search graphic organizers. Worksheetworks is a great template creator.
Other students can be doing silent reading comp activities (including graphic organisers), spelling, handwriting, peer reading, etc
Teacher is making summarized notes on how well the child is doing the 4 taught skills, what the children maybe struggling with, how they are reacting to the topic (like, don't like) 'next steps', use of clues (pics, parts of words (suffixes and prefixes) context, etc).
I love your video. I'll be teaching 3rd grade next year and would like to use these strategies. How can I get a copy of the graphic organizer the students are using? What are the other students doing while you are with your group? What are you writing while the students are discussing the book? GREAT VIDEO!
Select a topic of interest, offer choice and select text that is engaging.
You also create questions that are thought provoking to push the dialogue to a high level.
You as a teacher fully participate and model your enthusiasm. You value each students contribution and you name the potential you see. Speak about how their perspectives enhanced your understanding.

This is a cool idea, but how do you keep students who don't want to be involved in group work engaged?
