I know Chinese people believe Japanese text books have not been written some of the horrors of its 1941-45 war record such as the Pearl Harbor because the Chinese government has announced the wrong fact. Let me say a little about this issue as a Japanese. In Japan you'd see many Japanese who don't know their country's history, even WWII or Japan-China war. I'm afraid the ignorance of own history often causes conflictions with Asian countries. Of course, Japanese history textbooks describe what Japan did to China and Korea in the past and the responsibilities, but before the class proceeds to the points, many students graduate from the schools. I feel some intention by Japanese government in it.
