This song of Hament sahab having effect of gods blessings affects my heart and makes me spellbound & compels me to experience of ideals of true music & great singers devotion.
I can listen to this song all day along without eating or drinking anything although I can't even understnd a word of Hindi. Thank you for posting it!!!
I recognize the violinist and the tabalchi (Kashinath Mishra) and this suggests that this video is from a Bombay Doordarshan program. If this was from the Phool Khile Hain Gulshan program, could you please post other songs sung in that program if you have them? I am especially interested in the "Bhala Thha kitna apna bachpan" song.
Not known you before, nor you know me yet it feels that i have found my soulmate mysterious night is silent, air still and so is the tale restless on our lips silence has its own expressions as eyes now tell what hearts feel within love has brought us together on this fateful corner we meet here leaving all else behind the yearning hearts beat in unison on this sojourn of love taking us on a journey no one knows where you dont know me nor i have known you before
Its so peaceful...so calm...so soothing...so simple...God, i wish i could've listened to ppl like Hemant Kumar Sahab and Rafi Sahab live..Trust me, you can't find such voices with so much simplicity not only in their voices but their inner and outer lives as well..Truly deserve to be called Legends..
@utopiamine - It is the very same sentiments I also have on them. Those legends should have been immortal. It is sooo touching. It is a different language for me but when it come to lyrics, voices, music it makes a nice rendition and a universal language that goes deep into my inner heart.
Aik ghairatmand funkar. He was awarded Padham Shri, the biggest awdar of India in the domain of fine arts but he refused to accept, saying "Sorry! It is too late , my time is over"
They never sang a song. They meditated and discovered a song. Its like they had given birth to a music which touches GOD. But this meditations are missing now a days.................................................
Wah wah kia geet hai mere dost! Bohut bohut shukriya my dear for uploading this song and video by the immortal Hemant Kumar!!! To tell the truth, Hemant Kumar is more present on earth than he was during his life-time! U will be remembered forever and forever Hemant Ji! God bless your soul with peace and love! Come back again and again on earth! Douah hai meri!
This song (video) is from the event commemorating 25 years of Delhi Doordarshan (public television). It was broadcast on the night of (or around) September 15th, 1984. I had watched it live on TV and recorded the audio. A marvelous performance by Hemant Kumar.
I can recognise at least two musicians from the seventies from Bombay Doordarshan. A violinist (a staff artist, name unknown) and the tabalchi (Kashinath Mishra) in the orchestra.
Doubtful this was as late as 1984 (unless it was a re-broadcast of an old tape). In 1982 during the Asian Games, thousands of video tapes were re-used and in the process some priceless performances erased. Even though the choice of tapes was left to individual centers, babudom-based choices prevailed!
Thanks for uploading! What a voice... He makes it seem so effortless...

@u0107 Maybe it was at the same time that the videotape of Marlon Brando's interview taken by Satyajit Ray got erased? One wonders...
