I like the opening because it has an awesome build up and a totally addicting chorus(0:50-1:13). THATS why i liked it. I personally wish they never added that.

When I first saw this OP, that part was censored >_>. The 0:08 - 0:10 part was slwoed down and extended for the entire beginning. I prefered that version. Also, there's a alot to love about this OP: catchy song, very good synchornisation with the music, the Happosai spoiler(he debuted NEXT season), as well as a powerful showcase of rivals at 0:54 - 1:05 which synchs very well with the beat. For a good 4 years, this was one of my most fav anime songs ever.

@Ruldolphmaker Sorry dude, but you're wrong. The manga, Ranma 1/2 (which the anime is based off), is a shounen, which means it's aimed for guys. The author, Rumiko Takahashi, is a lady; however all of her manga works are aimed towards boys or men.

@nathylane WHAT!? Rumiko Takahashi is a bad influence on women? You've gotta be joking! All of her female leads are strong-willed and yet, they also embody the true essence of women. And plus, this was made in the 80s, so there wasn't exactly great censorship. And they're not really the same thing, they're two different manga by Rumiko Takahashi. Ranma's a comedy while Inuyasha is a little more serious. (And lol, Ukyo and Kikyo are *really* different. If anything, Ukyo's similar to Sango. But I agree with you saying Ranma and Inuyasha, and Akane and Kagome have a lot in common.)

The 1/2 means Ranma's curse. Ranma is cursed to where, when exposed to cold water, he immediately turns into a red-haired girl. When he is splashed with warm water, he returns to his black-haired manly self.

Thus the "1/2" He is "1/2 a man" and "1/2 a woman".

It's through these bodies that everyone, especially Ranma are able to learn about themselves. Macho Ranma wouldn't be able to tease/exploit Kuno&Happosai without his female body, it hides him from Shampoo's wrath and the dragon whisker hair growth. Likewise without his male body Ranma wouldn't have Akane's love, or be able to reunite with his mother. It's a beautiful series :)
