  • The writer of this song was inspired when he saw a boy carrying his brother on his back. He asked the boy why he was carrying him, he said its his brother, he has polio and that he wasn't heavy. If only the world could remember the good ole days of caring for your brother.

  • hey this is a great vid thanks i head a good feeling from this

  • Neil Diamond

  • I loved little Sam and Dean at the end. Great song for the Winchester boys :)

  • I don't know that I've ever commented on this one Tara so I am going to do it now. This song fits Dean and Sam so well...and this song seems like it was specifically written for Dean. BTW---who is singing the song??

  • Posted by an English Teacher ; )

  • Perhaps the teacher includes poetic license in the curriculum? Mark Twain did not speak in the same language that he wrote many of his works. ;-P

  • You realize of course, that I was referring to the fact that the title of the video is, "He's not heavy" instead of "He aint heavy".

    That was the joke.

  • Good video man thanks

this is a damn good show......

  • I love the film, beautiful and sad.I miss the little Sammy, I hope he comes back to the show.

  • The origins of this song come from back before there was a cure for polio. The writer of the song saw a 12 year old boy carrying his brother who had polio on his back. He ask him if was heavy and the 12 year old boy look up at him and simply said "he ain't heavy he's my brother" hence the song.

  • I think it was sung by the hollies but i dont have a link for the mp3 sorry

  • Great song. Great vid. Well done Tara and thanks.

  • Hey.Check it out.Roe Fulkerson wrote a artical in 1924,in it he recounted meeting a young boy carrying a small child towards a near-by park.He asked"'Pretty big load for such a small kid' I said as I met him. 'Why, mister,' he smiled, 'He ain't heavy; he's my brother"..What war are you people talking about?WW1,civil,spanish-american.How does one"carry" a corpse home from battle?Just my two cents.

  • It makes sense when you download the lyrics, then when I downloaded them and read them I cried even more. The line "His welfare is my concern" did it.

  • Now that I'm crying at work no less..Tara you did an EXCELLENT job with this! It is so fitting..

Can someone fill me in on the story behind the song coz I didn't know that and I think this song was out in the 60's during the Vietnam era...

  • Thanks im really glad that u liked it. :-) Someone told me it was about a man who carried his brother home from war.

  • This is true. But more importantly a brother saving a brother. Added Aug. 12th ?

Good job to you and your partner.

  • Thanks for watching
