  • how i love the classics. how i love james taylor. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

  • WOW, what a classic.

  • James Taylor is one of the geniuses of our time. So fortunate to grow up with his music.

  • Sorry guys....this song was first recorded ( to my knowledge )

    in the late 1940's ( 1947 - 1949 ). I know because it was one

of my favorite songs from early childhood.

Unfortunately I don't remember who originally recorded the song.

    Any help ?

  • @abbbafan Eddie Arnold recorded it...but it is an old 8 bar blues tune...don't know who wrote it.

  • From his awesome Video called Squibnocket!

  • someone reminds me everytime i hear this song

  • the memories... LOVE this

  • Fantastic song and videoo-so beautiful and his voice is timeless. Been to see James 8 times all over the US and he puts on a fantastic show. He is so talented and gifted and love his studio on Marthas Vinyard in this video. thanks for the post.

  • such a sad and meditative song - there's no other like that

  • The man's a genius. This song still gives me chills

  • He's killing the song!

  • how can you do a killer version in the 60's when the song was written in 1975?

  • Dave Van Ronk did a killer version in the 60's.

  • i realy love this song ^_^

  • Bonjour James De Saint Lazare Quebec Canada. Loved that concert in the old barn in Squibnocket . I have the video and will keep for ever. Thanks for all those lovely songs

  • shame about the quality, super song though.

  • AMAZING! Nuf said...

  • It's so beautiful! It's just as gorgeous as the 1998 dvd performance 'At The Beacon Theater'. I love it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • splendida,nostalgia a vagoni..................

  • modern day folk music

  • he gives me chills, he's so perfect.

  • Greatest singer/songwriter/guitarist to walk this planet!! 5,000*

  • LOVE this song, one of James' best. Been a fan since I first saw that long hair, blue eyes and his mustache, ha!

  • Guy on piano mentions that it was too slow at the end. How could you possibly complain about a version of that quality. It was perfect. Pace was right on and very relaxing.

  • The guy on piano was the "late" GREAT Don Grolnick, James' long time piano player, some 22 years with JT. I doubt if JT minded the subtle critique.

The drummer Carlos Vega, the guy with the mustache at the end also passed away, apparent suicide at the age of 41.

  • I have been a JT fan for years and years but it still amazes me that I can hear a song of his and have it touch me in such ways...God Bless this man's talent and voice for many more years to come.

  • He is so humble even in hearing feedback from his band members . . he's as beautiful as his music!

  • Bro his wife left him cuz all he did was sit around listening to his own music bro.

  • omg, this song is beautiful and it is about me....

  • is this entire show on dvd?

  • It is a shame that everybody in this whole wide world does not have JT as their Favorite overall singer,He just can't be beat,Simple

  • Yes, I agree: James Taylor just seems to get better and better over time (usually, it's the other way around). This is a rather poignant song and one that is relatively old. I believe it is either from the '30s or '40s. I have it in a fake book which was put together in the early 1940s. At any rate, check out the album from which this version is taken. It's called "Gorilla". It's one of Taylor's best.

  • I like all songs of James Taylor. Walang duda(no doubt). Mrmanok, are you a Filipino?

  • I bought this video tape.

I have paid for the right to share this.

    I am glad i did.

  • Manja letsy ny hiran'ialahy ry James a!!!

  • So beautiful! great collection. Thanks for sharing mrmanok.

  • Beautiful song!

  • Great posts. Of all JT's drummers Carlos Vega was my favorite. He could sure pump out the syncopation. Heard him with JT in Anaheim at the Pond not too long before he took his life. I had heard he too suffered from heroin addiction.

Just heard JT/Legende at last stop of summer 2008 tour in Red Rocks. Great show.

Re. Wanderin' James loves road songs, and he himself is an admitted wanderer, hence his frequent tourings. Also, his frequent nautical/ocean suggestions reflect sailing with his dad.

  • this song is beautiful but so sad...I love James voice and his songs.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. So beautiful, I could cry.

  • i love the squibnocket classics, rip carlos vega, he was the best.

  • did you ever get to hear him or see him in concert?

  • seen him many times in concert live, one time his former bass player leland sklar sat right in front of us when,we had 5th row seats from stage:)

  • i love this song though i dont fully understand the msge but the rhythm really good to hear. thanks for making this song james.. muah!

  • timeless, i would say.........

  • I don't know how old this song is.... but time doesn't affect it because this song is so amazing. Thanks for posting it... it's one of my all time favorites songs.

  • By the way it is from 1975... this song is on Gorilla.

  • beautiful video ..

  • wow, I remember using this as background music to a video I made for UCLA report in 1977 about homeless on the beach. A very touching and human song.

  • excellent. Wow I haven't heard this song in ages... was this from "Daddy Loves His Work"?

    awesome song!!

  • gorilla

  • ahh..from the squibnocket video!

  • love this song!..JT is classic!

  • What is extraordinary about this guy beyond the great songs is that after listening to him for almost four decades I have never heard him have an off night vocally. Amazing...yink.

  • So true.....

  • That was the best JT video ever made called Sqibknocket. All his songs sound great and live on it.
