Actually we need some sort of universal world language, that everyone _should_ be required to learn as part of their normal education.

Note that I'm not saying that makes it right to scream "omg ur dum talk english" or that it is bad for people to use their native language. Just pointing something out because you said "not everybody 'should' learn English", and I'm not sure if you'd extend that to say "not everybody *should* learn some other, non-native language (including a universal one)".

And if you mean that, I'd disagree since we need a universal language so one doesn't have to learn lots of languages just to communicate with someone else. Note that having one wouldn't make it any more possible to read the comments without knowing the language they're written in, but at least it would be possible for two people from different regions of the Earth to communicate much more easily.

Note that this universal language need not be English.

The siberian traps were created by the wilkes meteor and the deccan traps were created by the k-t meteor. Consequently, the siberian traps must have been much larger,flooding nearly all of earth with lava. It's about a massive discharge from the mantle called a "superplume" that broke through the surface in an area called the Siberian Traps. (Think Yellowstone times a couple thousand in terms of discharged material.) It threw a lot of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, warming the Earth quickly and killing a lot of marine life. Methane hydrate leaking up from the ocean floor amplified the warming effect, causing the Permian Extinction 250 million years ago.

That's right, a big fat plume burst up from the deep layers of the Earth and piled up against the crust. The pressure had no where to go but burst out the crust, and so the hot rock oozed out and keept oozing out until all the pressure was gone.
