Look, I do believe in God and I try to have faith. The first 5 books of the bible include mosaic law designed for Israelite people before the messiah came in order to prepare the world for the coming and raising of the messiah. The purpose of the book of Leviticus was to instruct the Israelites to live in moral purity. Consider where they came from, Egypt. If you start at the beginning of Leviticus chapter 20, and not in the NIV version, which is a horrible translation. Verse 2 says "Again, you shall say to the children of Israel:" which means he was talking to the people of Israel not just the children. This cursing is also a defilement of their parents meaning that they would either abuse or they would petition with the devil against their parents. Mind you Hitler would have just stripped them and used them for painful scientific studies.

2 huge holes in atheism. 1-Without religion there is no right or wrong and therefor it wouldn't matter if god made parents kill there children because there are no basic moral foundation to say that its not ok. 2-Big Bang Theory-If the universe didn't exist before the big bang then what created the big bang? If you say that the universe created itself then that would mean that the universe is god and would explain the logic that god is everywhere.

Everyone has slightly different morals based on were they grew up but it all generally goes back to some religious book. Granted more is legal over there, but violent crime is more rare and harshly punished. I mean, those who wrote the Old Testament (Which descends from Jewish Holy Scripture) could be influenced into writing something that is completely opposite to God.. The purpose of the book of Leviticus was to instruct the Israelites to live in moral purity. Consider where they came from, Egypt. The violence experienced where they came from was a very real way of everyday life. These were laws of there own to abide by. To put a curse on someone would take some preparations. If you start at the beginning of Leviticus chapter 20, and not in the NIV version, which is a horrible translation. Verse 2 says "Again, you shall say to the children of Israel:" which means he was talking to the people of Israel not just the children. This cursing is also a defilement of their parents meaning that they would either abuse or they would petition with the devil against their parents. Mind you Hitler would have just stripped them and used them for painful scientific studies.

The hope is to avoid having fundamental creationists take over the government and trade our constitution for the 'ten commandments'. Okay, this commandment came straight from God. The people of that time (back in the book of Exodus where the isreakites were roaming the desert) feared God so much. (In a respectful and loving way) So being fearers of God, they would have made EXTRA sure that they obeyed the laws that came from GOD HIMSELF. Think about it, a Great Being who created the world and could easily take it out of existence gives you a direct command. Unless you were out of your mind, you would mind your manners.
