i think the who is a strange comparison...i think joy division are worth a mention...if you like this track then try joy divisions ''digital'' or ''transmission''
but saying that ive still seen the verve twice(secc and t) oasis 3 times(hampden, secc, men arena), inspiral carpets, doves, charlatans once, primal scream twice(secc and t)....u can still see them
I was smack in the middle of it when I was 18 and saw them all lots of times and lucky enough to see a lot of the bands at small venues before they became massive
also wha wha pedal with a little flanger, if you push the wha pedal right down add reverb and overdrive, check out funkadelics track MAGGOT BRAIN to hear it done proper thats where nicks influences are from.maybe u heard that song alreday?
they use so much echo and revereb and a wha wha and flanger.if you want to hear ehre nick is influenced by listen to funkadeleic maggot brain, what is soul &mama whats a funkadelis.the album with these tracks are amazin.enjoy
There are many decent Verve songs. Listen to "This is Music: The Singles 92-98". Buy it, download, whatever... This is great introduction to the Verve
Urban hymns stuff is awsome but check out the style in some of their early stuff. "sonic sound" they call it. Check out Slide Away and Blue. Great tunes!!!
@snowman9318 Lucky Man, Sonnet, Love is Noise, On your own, History, Slide away Rather Be.... They have lots, and singles/album released after 1998 so check out other stuff too! :D
But really! Sometimes I wish they'd "disown" the big hits like Bit. Symph and Drugs Don't Work, as good as they are. The psychedelic stuff is by far the best. Monte Carlo is my absolute fave. So underrated!
They have some shit videos... Except for Bittersweet Symphony... But, still, they make wonderful music and is one of my favorite bands still to this day.
Richard Ashcroft what a lyricist :)

crank up the reverb, get some crunch, lower the tone and add a little delay and you got the sound to make music!!
