I also take bc pill because they totally take away cramps for me...but also because I do not want to become pregnant. =) But I pretty much suffered through period pain all through high school (and not the oh, that hurts a little, but..OH MY GOD...THIS HURTS) Once I started taking bc pills it just went away. love it.

I actually had a roommate who took birth control because her periods caused her unusually constant and debilitating cramps. (unlike the ones that go away after about an hour or two of lying on one's stomach screaming "why god, WHY!???"

i do take the pill for period control, but not to make less periods. my period, from age 12 until 20 came once every 40 days and lasted for 3 days only. i was in horrible pain during the time and avoided school and work. one day my period came a day early and i was at school in front of friends when i buckled over in pain. they called the college nurse and i went to the gyno who said its the only way to help.... took it for 3 months and was better for a while.

i'm against all prescription drugs being advertised. As far as birth control pills. The best thing around. Do we need more unwanted children around or do you believe in spurting out any baby that "happens" The Pill/patch is one of the best things to happen in the last 40 plus years!

Actually, there is one birth control commercial that focuses on having control over your life choices, one of which is NOT having a baby. (Not sure what those little pills can do to control which house you buy, or whether you go to graduate school - also featured - but I suppose it's all connected to babies-or-no-babies in the end.) Can't for the life of me remember which birth control it was, though.

I think I see why they don't advertise for BIRTH control. The media doesn't want us to stay single, do they? They don't want to promote anything that says 'don't get married/don't have kids' (yet they love promoting the opposite). They'd rather push that aside and focus on some other "problem".
