Man, I saw him in that video with Patrick Raycraft. He earned more respect than humanly possible when he told off that controller. A bravely skilled pilot indeed.
In his turn he dropped altitude significantly in a short period of time while in a TIGHT 7+ G turn at least.. How tight he made this turn coupled by the shear drop in altitude can make the best pilots in the world black out completely. It was the drop and the g- force. I love this guy, but I think he was out like a light pretty much and was trying to recover at the very end and just couldnt pull outta the trees.
Kevin Davis was a tribute to the team and our military! A co-worker of mine was checking damage to a piece of radar equipment and he nor Davis was told of the others' presence. Davis took off down the runway doing a "media flight" and " pulled up a little early" when he saw my guy at the last minute! My friend was knocked on his ass by the exhaust! He and my friend had a good laugh as I photographed them shaking hands after he landed! He was a true professional and a gentleman! He'll be missed!
I worked this Air Show at MCAS Beaufort SC. The damn people were so insensitive because they were stuff on the installation due to his crash. I can't believe people!
@davidkade I was there, He means people were getting pissed because they werent letting anyone off the base due to the crash, we were on there for hours
omg, i was there and i was soooo scared. i prayed for him that he would live, but it didnt happen. my old step dad was working that day and had to go out to the scene. ha said pieces were EVERY WHERE. it was a reallyy sad day for everyone. R.I.P. Lt. Kevin Davis.
these guys are sooooooooooooo amazing!, they maintain an 18" wing tip to canopy seperation while flying in formation!they were here in pittsburgh in 2006,the pride i feel watching them almost brought me to tears!,these guys ARE the best of the best!they'll be back next year i can't wait!i live near the 911 air reserve base, hope they wake me up with the "sonic boom" again next year!, i get to watch them ractice over my housing plan for two days before the show! it's kick ass!R.I.P. kojak!
nothing has been said of the investigstion yet, but when g-forces are a factor, passing out is the result, these guys don't wear g-suits to prevent this, gets in the way of the control stick, they tense up their whole lower body, keeping blood in the head preventing passing out, it's called the hook manuver, really wish he did eject though!, maybe the g- forces on that last turn he made caused all of this, so very sad! :(
I think it was nice i live in Beaufort SC and i was there when it happened and my buddys dad was the one to pick up the trash and debris of the crash :( very sad moment i still have the stealth bomber toy from when we were at the show very nice tribute
I was actually at this air show with my sister, my niece, and brother-in-law. I have some beautiful photo's of the angels before the crash. If you would like, you can message me and I'll give you a link to my photobucket, which has all the photo's I took at the air show, and lots of pictures of the Blue Angels.
Thanks for the comment on my photos, the music was chosen by the Blue Angels themselves for their 1st promotional video. I only adapted it to my slideshow.
Nope! I've gotta say guys, I've tried real hard. 4 months on and...Fantastic photos...tragically awful music for kids stuck in some 80's black hole...terrible, even if the blue Angels did chose it. They are amazing pilots! but bad DJ's!!! no offence, I just can't stand this type of cod rock, my wife is pleading with me to turn it off!
Thank you for your kind comments. The photos are in a chronology of a "low" show, that does not feature the solo pilots until the last part of the show. I had better luck photographing formations rather than solo ships.
There was a version of "Heaven" before on youtube... cant find it... anyone can help?

Terrible crash, and loss of life. The music is OK, VanHalen brothers are still awesome!! Sammy was alright, but Roth has more edge.
