Riven was definitely the best. It's too bad that somehow it didn't carry on Myst's success and this genre of game has pretty much fallen out of sight. I found Riven in a bargain bin at Staples around 1999. Talk about a bargain!
what level is it at 5:09.... how is it called? I only saw it once and...here it is again! Finally i saw it again....Thanks for uploading and thanks for your answer!!!
@johnnyfx82 It's just a concept Age. I've been all through all the Mysts and I've never seen it. It looks like a concept for the tree Age in the third Myst. Edanna, I think.
@johnnyfx82@FrostyTheSnowball The first one is Edanna, seen from the outside. If you meant the second picture, with what appears to be a giant spine and ribcage in the center, I'd hazard a guess that it could be an early version of J'nanin. It looks vaguely similar. It's got tusk-like things around an island and a tower in the center.
Funny how realtime graphics has in some respects surpassed the pre-rendered graphics of riven today! But it was BEAUTIFUL for it's time. And no, I was not happy when the myst series went realtime.
Myst III was a very good game and did excell at creating an imerseive environment, but it's pretty obvious that a different studio created it. It's not bad by any means, but puzzles seemed to interrelate less and were relatively easy to solve, at least to me, with the exception of a few puzzles here and there. It was kind of a step back from Riven's massive inter-related puzzles.
My dad used to play these games but we lost Myst and Riven so all we have now is Myst III and I want to start Myst and got to Riven because Riven looks really fun from the pov of the maps in the guide my dad bought 10 years ago(Official RIVEN The Sequel to Myst Hints and Solutions)
I think they mean it as an expression. Throw out their computers in the sense of they couldn't use them for the Riven project. I'm sure they kept their computers.
Same and agree. Although I just recently purchased Uru, and plan on getting Myst IV and Myst V eventually. I don't know what it is, but every now and then I get into nostalgia mood and immediately turn to Myst because it held so much of my childhood.

Who forced them to do that? Couldn't they have sold them?

@SleepyAcorn you should play number 4, but in my opinion go no further, uru sort of broke the atmosphere of the previous games
