I would say part prequel since all hell breaks out after you begin, as opposed to Doom 1 where hell's already loose. To those that downrated my comment, I love Doom 3, don't question that. Just saying, it as a cliche story.

They could've atleast come up with an excuse as to why Taggart couldn't be possessed. Samus had the energy controller which prevented the Ing from possessing her so atleast Echoes had an excuse.
