One question, I'm having trouble with the translation of pinyin of Hong in Xiao Hong Chuan and Da Hong Quan. I heard it means 'Red' for the color of blood and how brutal it can be applied in combat. Then I hear 'Flood' for many and outrageous attacks as well as the area it was made. I'd be grateful for help :)
@XiaoLinLong Xiao Hong Chuan/Quan only means "Little Red Fist" forget that thing about the blood, it is just one of those chinese names, that is all my friend.
its called big flood boxing or rather Big Vast boxing. Meaning to overwhelm the opponent with many techniques. Hong has three meanings in chinese with different charctors but simiar sounds. This style which I practise (shanxi hong quan along with the shaolin versions the charctors mean VAST or FLOOD not red. lol calling it red boxing is a common mistake non chinese martial artist make...no offense.
bohidharma didnt invent shaolin......the temple was founded in the late 400ad 50 years b4 bodhidharma came to china.....n shaolin martial arts on text and scrolls in shaolin and imperial documentation during the wei dynasy proves that there were martial arts in shaolin temple n around china way b4 bodhidharma came. bodhidaharma is more myth and legend . Funny thing is his yijinjing and forms he surposely taught were found on taoist scrolls dating bak hundreds of years b4 he surposly invented dem
Cheers for the info much appreciated but after i read your comment and replied 9 months ago i looked it up and was later explained about the origin of shaolin by two shifu's so if it wasn't for ur original comment i guess i'd still be misinformed so thanks

This is some 3000 years old school form. As traditional as it gets! Loved it, simply amazing.
