Bill was my father's cousin. He couldn't come to my father's going away service because he had a show in Florida. Bill passed away exactly one week after my father.
@GS- The tenor singer is Russell Henry who is still singing with Bill's group. I sang with Dr. Pinkney and the Original Drifers for 10 yrs. Sure do miss him. He was a great man.
The Late, and great,Clyde McPhatter was the original lead singer of the Drifters. Bill Pinkney, the last of the originals just passed away last year. I am from that era, 70 years old now, and these are the songs from my days as a teen. Saw most of the groups live, on stage, at the Alan Freed Rock and Roll shows in Brooklyn, NY. DOO WOP, the greatest music of all time.
I worked with Bill in the 70s and was shocked to hear how much his voice ( even his speaking voice) has changed. I always had fun working with him and his lead singer Chuck.
The best! God Bless you Bill Pinckney. Thanks for the years you brought to the World with your magic voice and music. You will live on forever. Every Christmas will be a White Christmas because of you.

I'm trying to track down some video of Ron McPhatter singing with Bill Pinckney's Drifters, and any other info. Was he on a PBS show?
