English teacher in Korea and as an English teacher in Korea your not required to know Korean, and some don't know Korean at all. She may know a little Korean just to get around abit.
@historygirl1000 See.. In Korea it's not very easy to just go there and live there, you usually have to go there for job reading such as an English teacher, computer work, navy. So I'm assuming this girl came with her husband/boyfriend or so to Korea maybe because he's in the navy, OR they are both English teachers, maybe one of them is. And if you do come to Korea just to live there you can't do the normal things you might do wherever you live. I'm telling you this because I assumed she was an
Big and nice apartment, I like it. Can I ask you, do you have to speak korea or something other than english, if you want to live there? Like in shop, is there a numbers or something funny symbols what I really can't read? :-D I'm sorry for my stupid questions but I'm just intrested (=
Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
Great apartment...looks alot like the one I rented while I served for two years in Seoul. But I had an Whirlpool over head washer and dryer and American stove. The view you guys have is wonderful. I truely miss Seoul, the crazy korean people and the energy the city gave me each time I left my apartment. I love the food, kimchi and bulgogi and rice are my favorite. I love the hot stamy summers on the beaches at Pusan and Cheju-do. Even the cold New Year celebrations in the city of Seoul. Enjoy.
Where are you? I was in Daegu/ Taegu in 2001-2002. I really want information about apartments there because I'm thinking about moving back. Can you help me with the listings? I'm not finding anything online. Your apartment is really nice and I just want my family to feel comfortable and as "normal" as possible.
Are you teaching at a Public School or Hagwon? And by couple do you mean married? I've heard of some non-married couples having trouble getting an apartment together.
@TheDaydreamer87 There are some paperwork requirements, and we had to pay the extra to bring them in the airplane cabin, but overall, it was really easy!! Don't leave your pet at home! Korea is really accepting of (small) dogs. He'll be just fine here, and make your quality of life better.
@billnyethe1742 We don't live in Seoul, which is where most of the super small apartments are. Also, we are a couple, so our school furnished us with a larger apartment appropriate for two people. But yes, we're really lucky and happy to have received a comfortable apartment with our contract.
This is so perfect. My husband and I are toying with the idea of teaching in South Korea summer 2012. We have a daughter who is 1.5yrs old at the moment. Having a 3 bedroom place WITH a bath tub would be HEAVEN. At least I know it's possible to find now.
Congrats on making the decision to come, that the first and the hardest part! For advice, I'd say get a recruiter that you really trust (we used Saykimchirecruiting). You'll be happier in the end because they'll find you a job that fits what you want and not the other way around. Don't feel rushed to take the first job offered (unless it is the perfect one) because there are a lot of jobs out there! Other than that, be prepared to have an open mind and enjoy your year abroad!
Amazing apartment! I'm a recent graduate I want to teach ( find a job) English in S.Korea, do you have any recommendations, ideas or tips for teaching abroad?
I love the korean bathrooms, you can practically flood the whole room. There's a drain in the center and yo udon't have to worry about rotting as you would in the states.
