I'd have to disagree. Take 6 and The Real Group both have spot-on vocals and tight harmonies and difficult chords. However, Take 6 has a very formulaeic arranging style. Lots of block chords and not much interplay between the voices. There are exceptions, but that's their staple sound. The Real Group has much more rich and diverse arrangements and song styles and the ability to improvise most any style to boot. I've got hundres of a cappella CD's and a huge personal resume, I vote RG wins!
Yes, RG are truly special in their genre. And don't forget that they write a lot of great original songs as well. BTW, you seem to know a lot about a capella music, what is your opinion on the new stars Perpetuum Jazzile? (they have a lot of videos on YouTube)
It is one thing when you are on stage 40+ singers, and completely other when you are just five. It is one kind of singing when you are some 3-4-5-10 people on each voice of score or all 40+singing monophonic, and absolutely other kind when there is just one performer on each voice. I agree - PJ sing good but they cant be compared with small ensembles.
Try once more - compare things that are comparable. :-)
Why do you guys compare apples with pears? Both Take 6 and Real Group are masters of their own genres and there is no contradictionin their both being the best a capella groups in the world. Music is after all tolerant!
This is, by far, their most complicated jazz arrangement. They switch between half a dozen instruments (muted trumpet, trombone, plunges, etc) throughout the song, sometimes mid-measure. Harmonies are tight as anything. So amazing they can pull this off live. Incredible!
hah, agreed. I think I've become naturally tune to be annoyed when I hear many pop songs like some of the ones these guys do. Most of their stuff is a pleasure to hear. My Romance is a sick addiction haha
Yes, many of their arrangements are available electronically on the Sibelius website. You can order traditional hardcopy arrangements through Walton music. Hope this helps!
Un...buhhh....lievable. I love them. I love them. I love them. Been listening to them for 12 years. Unmatched. Brilliant. Katarina, if things go sour with your rockstar cellist, marry me.

PJ vs TRG?! Sounds funny. They are incomparable!

@Imants625 It is not about PJ vs RG like any stupid sports match. Actually, they even had a concert together recently :-)
But I think there are some interesting comparisons that can be made. For example regarding popularity (i.e. number of viewers on YouTube).
