  • Christ, I had nearly forgotten this unique meeting of huge talent - Palmer, Rossiter and Nobbs. Simply superb.

  • This is classic... Leonard Rossiter had a considerable penchant this kind of thing, and more so...

  • Add chavs, ASBOs, parliament, racists, fascists, assholes, Justin Bieber, Twilight fans, Wayne Rooney and that miserable newsreporter lady from Sky News to the list Jimmy.

  • my last names perrin

  • Can one of you Brits post The Legacy of Reginald Perrin on here? We don't have it on dvd here in the states but I know it is out on Region 2. Cheers!

  • The Martin Clunes remake version wasn't so bad really. It did take a few episodes to bed in, but that, I think, is only because I, along with almost everyone else was comparing it to the original. And David Nobbs did have a hand in writing the new version so something of the original Reggie is going to be in there somewhere.

  • It doesn't get much better than this, TV comedy today- what's happened?

  • @Kitchiegeorgedotcom I didn't get where i am today by not recognising a good TV show when i see one!

  • I'm scared of the Papist Rapists... send for the Queer Admirals!

  • My dad was a fan of the old Reggie Perrin and I had seen the new Martin Clunes version, and then, a few days ago, I saw an episode of the original on G.O.L.D., and I can honestly say to you Mr Clunes:-

Leonard Rossiter, you're not. You're not even close, pal. Up yer clunge!!

  • Always wanted to see more Rise and Fall ever since seeing a couple of episodes when i was 13-14. Now at 27 i finally bought the whole boxset and absolutely love it. Leonard Rositter absolute genius. Love his Pig Farnmers voice in series 2 and the way he can change character at the drop of a hat! CJ a pure legend! "I didnt get where i am today by not watching the Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin !"

  • @love4knowledge I love the pig farmers voice as well in series 2, it really makes me laugh. They were all good charactes; C.J., David Harris-Jones (Super), and Tony Webster (Great). I bought the box set a couple of years back as well having watched a few episodes on Gold and I loved it.

  • This is hilarious. I love this show.

  • Actually there was a plot by military leaders and industrialists in the UK in the mid 70's for a military coup to overthrow the labour govt that was mired in hyperinflation and industrial unrest.

  • Genius pure and simple. They couldn't make TV like this these days: great characters, wonderful acting and top scripts.

  • A very underrated series. Top stuff!

  • I am an admirer of Palmer's, and it is a joy to stumble upon a new clip of his. Thanks!

  • Jimmy's funniest trait, I always thought, was talking in very short, clipped sentences.

  • There was a series based on this called Fairly Secret Army, excellent but cant find it anywhere now.

  • just realised Jimmy is living and alive in the form of Jeremy Clarkson

  • He forgot Tory MEPs who hate the NHS!!

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • "that was rubbish not only that but it was neo rubbish and krypto rubbish!" quote if you haven't seen it all.

  • A wonderful script.

    Classic.

  • I didn't get where i am today not finding this brilliantly funny.

  • GREAT!

  • "Only you against the rest of the English-speaking (or otherwise) world. Paraphrased quote from Blackadder Series 4.

  • Just watched Reggie Perrin the New version...

Wow...how bad was that!..Im glad Leonard Rossiter isnt around to see his brilliant characterisation of the David Nobbs creation totally ripped to shreds by Martin Clunes and a truly pitiful script.Time really has moved on hasnt it?...gags about penis size menstruation and thrush left me wishing for a re-run of the original and thinking of ways to get a refund, however minimal, of the part of my licence fee that contributed to this drivel.....

  • Bit of a cock-up on the remake front...

  • @derekdingle

I don't blame Martin Clunes for that, though. Apparently the "revival" was written by the same man who wrote "Men Behaving Badly"- not the right man for the job, clearly. The characters which were invented for the new series are probably best forgotten.

  • Not only was this series so good, the books (David Nobbs) as with all his work are great also. "Shame she didn't get her century".

  • "Bit of a cock-up on the catering front, Reggie" - most underrated catchphrase in sitcom history. Plus Reggie Perrin is one of the most underrated sitcoms of all time.

  • Still up. Nice.

  • Great (super)

  • This is one of my favorite all time scenes in t.v. history...cant wait till its available on dvd in the states.

  • Funny that, I can hear laughter all the way through.

  • What happened to the longer version of this scene. Please post again as it is much better in full context.

  • Aw I love how at the end of this scene Reggie says that it is "neo rubbish and crypto rubbish". Then he has an idea Jimmy asks what it is and he says "can't say, hush, hush. Not time or place"

  • Thanks for putting this up , it's a shame that it was cut short as Reggie Perrin says you're all mad or something ? afterwards , a sort of second punchline if you like .

I believe Leonard Rossiter said doing comedy was a absolute doddle compared to what he'd been used to .

  • Probably one of the finest comedy sketches of all time! What's quite amusing about this sketch is that "Jimmy" includes every genre of society in his rant! Also Leonard Rossiter an absolute comedy genius who will never be forgotten.

  • classic comedy

  • Damn! It cuts off before the best bit. The part about "neo-rubbish and crypto-rubbish" fookin' kills me!

Still great to see Reggie here tho'

  • Geoffrey Palmer was always really funny no matter the character and Leonard Rossiter was top notch as Reggie.

  • LMAO genius. Come Back Perrin.

  • "I thought support might be difficult."

  • simply amazin. soooo so funny. thanks for postin dis.

  • Best 2 minutes of comedy ever.

  • This was terrific! Geoffrey Palmer was the only good thing about "Butterflies," so it's nice to see him in another early show with somebody who can match him. Thanks for sharing!

  • God I love Geoffrey Palmer...the man's a comedy god.

  • I didn't get where I am today without knowing a good video when I see it.

  • LOL

  • Will fairly Secret Army ever be released on DVD, this was the series that featured the geoffrey Palmer chracter in his own series. A must see ,beleive me

  • Excellent clip, Perrin is Legend.... One of the best under rated comdies to come out of the beeb

  • Oozes genius.

  • I love Reggie....so utterly British ! It's a terrible shame that poor Leonard Rossiter has passed away. He can never be replaced. RIP !

  • Cracks me up every time I play it. Perfect acting and writing.

    Who could ask for more.

  • Geoffrey Palmer is a legend!

  • Brilliance.
