Beowulf's Magic Sword, except for Shock!, is based on Faith for success. Break is a colossal ability for those pesky Undead (as shown here), Innocent is tremendous for mages (also shown here), and Chicken and Sleep are must-haves.
Unfortunately, Beowulf has naturally low Brave, so he'll need to rely on Shock! and spells for damage, unless you boost his Brave. Until then, a good Mantle, a good Shield, and the Blind Magic Sword skill will keep him alive for a long time.
@Kraleck Successful Magic Sword attacks also have the crunch-like sound as if you struck a foe with the sword equipped if successful. However, Magic Sword requires a Sword or Knight Sword, as the skill's name implies, to function.
Good classes for Beowulf include Temple Knight (default), Geomancer, and Chemist (with Equip Sword and Magic Sword). Weaker classes for him include Monk, Ninja, and Samurai (though their abilities are awesome choices for Beowulf).
