@dustinlouder Geddy doesn't use amps anymore (runs his bass into the venue's sound system or some other sorcery), so he puts various silly things back there.
@LowerSaxony100 It'd be hilarious if they did. He's also had vending machines, chicken rotisseries, and other stuff up there. Those laundry machines actually had exclusive shirts in them which they threw out for the audience during the show.
can anyone figure out what the sign says that the girl holds up at 0:34 - 0:35 ...looks like "thanks for the music" but a little more than that. hah thats awesome. I bet that makes Geddy and Alex so happy to see stuff like that.
@FootSoler Danke! I cant see how you figured that out, were you there or something?lol. Damn, I wish I was. I saw them in 1996(Dec 2 )when I was 16. A friend had an extra ticket [terrible seats though, & bad sound/venue] he said if I drive all of us (I was the only one with a license/car) the ticket was mine. I said sure! I was really into Metallica+Iron Maiden at the time but I knew Rush were good musicians...I left that concert a different person. Started buying their albums immediately.
A vida é cheia de dificuldades, mas quando escuto Rush sinto uma espécie de transe onde esqueço o que me encomoda......É um prazer que sinto que não tem explicação.
Saw the show here in Phoenix. Got very lucky last minute tickets $2-300 less than original asking price! Row 16 center stage! Never been that lucky purchasing tickets.
@mcsew2k said he got tired of playing so loud to hear himself it was ridiculous that now everything runs through the rack and his live signal comes back in the p.e.m's so he decided to use snack and washing machines as his backline instead of mountain of ampeg svt's furman power cond. tech21 preamps and a compression chain and thats it the board does all the heavy lifting now
@TheRealPlum Yeah I know... but after he says thank you he Says "I'll try to speak some German for you. Forgive me..." If you listen to Subdivisions on Working Men you'll know what I'm talking about...
A heart-wrenching version of my favorite Rush song. Not a shred of doubt that these guys know exactly what it means to be an outsider. And how utterly empty suburban life can be. (The way out is the way in.)
Saw them yesterday in Rotterdam, great concert! They played classical stuff (Spirit of Radio as opening, YYZ, 2112, Temples of Syrinx, Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer) and new songs from the upcoming album. They played two songs in a new arrangement, other rhythm and tempo. Great sound, lights and video, hilarious too! Neil's solo is different again, as usual... Had a great evening! For those who have the change to see them: have fun and enjoy! :-)
@nweenink Think you mean Overture and Temples of Syrinx, both are part of 2112 but great arrangements no doubt! Saw them in '07 for their Snakes & Arrows tour, great stuff!
i wonder if geddy or alex or neil ever watch these videos and read these comments, everyone loves you rush, and if you happen to be reading this, i thought you should know I;m watching this video from my home town of toronto ontario, long live 416!
1 dislike...hmmm. No one who is fully conscious could never do that, so my conclusion would be that someone has accidentally pushed something while masturbating on this song. Anyway, Thumbs UP from Finland!!
anyone who thinks Alex Lifeson is not underrated doesn't get it...and the reason he is underrated is because Geddy and Neil are such MONSTER FUCKING MUSICIANS...when you hear Alex's guitar riffs ...you know exactly who is playing...that is monster enuff!!!!...he never is mistaken for anyone else...and listening to alot of the rock/new wave bands of the 80's...90's...sounds like Lifeson had a big influence on them......
@cbburtraw At around 0:24 you can see Geddy pulsing some low notes with his left hand so I'm not sure if thats it (on many keyboards you can assign different sounds to individual or groups of keys) and other times they use bass pedals (such as those on an organ) like at the beginning of Tom sawyer. It is also possible that Geddy has the keyboard hooked up to control the bass pedals when he plays certain keys
@Undertaker4150 Like I said at 0:24 you can see geddy just pulsing the notes that hes playing, not changing them but just striking them rhythmically. All that being said I dont play keyboard so I could be completely wrong. Just trying to help a brother out! =)
@VajinalBloodFart - Too funny. You're wife will never need to see another concert (except for Rush of course) as she cannot top what she is about to see.
Absolutely one of the most perfect bands doing one of the most perfect pieces of musical craftsmanship of the last 40 years. Yep, that's a huge revelation but get this straight now...it's the fucking truth. I partied with Geddy and Alex on more than one occasion and they are awesome ambassadors of the musical world. They don't do drugs and that allows them to stay so focussed on their craft. I've met Neil twice and he is just a very quiet and humble man who doesn't care much for the limelight.
@SeveChibi It's slightly lower than it used to be, but still a great voice. It's really a miracle that it's still so good considering that he used to smoke.
@dtoliaferro THEIR NEW MUSIC IS NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO THEIR EARLY YEARS,YOU MIGHT LIKE THEIR NEWER STUFF BUT I FIND THEIR NEW STUFF BORING AND OLD AND REHASHED,IF YOU LIKE THEIR PAST MID CAREER STUFF, NO DISRESPECT TO YOU, "ROCK ON"!!!!
Let's get it straight. I love every era of Rush. From the hard rock Zepp/Who influenced stuff of their first album, to the progressive rock style albums afterwards (Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, etc), to the new wave/Caribbean influenced sounds of their 80's era, and onward.
Today's Rush sounds different, but that's what they're known for. They're 3 guys who are constantly evolving musically, and are better than any new "rock" band, period.
the person who doesn't like this is probably jann wenner. what a douche. he thinks putting idiots like justin bieber and snooki on the cover of rolling stone is cool. fuck that guy.
I'm a big fan of other rock n roll bands like KISS, AC/DC...But these guys..they are amazing!!!!!!! My favorite band is KISS but I admit they are much more talented...they born to do it!!!! It might be something idiot..but if you take Rush's talent and put it together to KISS' stage show......It will form the perfect band.....Rush has an amazing show!!!!^^Brazil
The are doing fine. Solid career of almost 40 years, every show is sold out, and they are greatly respected not only by fans but most rock bands in the industry. Rush is a top rated band, just not popular with the media (Rolling Stone, etc..) so it is easy to dismiss how big they are.
@jeffs1000 It's just a sad reality that the majority of people you might tell "Alex Lifeson is among my top 3 favourite guitarists" will likely reply "Who is Alex Lifeson?"
He's underrated because he deserves so much more notoriety, of course we rate him very high, its just a matter of spreading the Lifeson gospel.
@jeffs1000 He's in a band with a drummer like the devil himself on drums and a guy that does EVERYTHING amazing. Therefore, when people talk about Rush, between friends / family / whatever, most conversations would revolve around these two and, lastly, Alex. Whereas if he was in pretty much any other group, people would talk about him firstly. So he is underrated, because he deserves more talk about him that it actually happens. Definitely though, without him the band wouldn't be as legendary.
@ewq14 i agree with you my rush friend this band was and still is awesome surely they where much powerful in their concerts when they were younger back in the seventies and eighties but still awesome
What makes neil peart peart great is his precision and touch on the drums. The guy can play a basic 4/4 and make it sound like a million dollars. He's very proficient player
@Kazinsal technically IYO! IMO - NOT! I Love DT but sorry, Portnoy as awesome & innovative is no professor, and Geddy, well that little dynamo destroys on bass & synths & outsings LaBrie. That'sjust technically, creatively you could argue this concetp over that, & Octavarium is a fave, but it's no 2112, and that was ? years ago, & Rush is sti?ll in the game. I don't usually do these comparison things, I just don't get that technically DT surpasses Rush, and as for a NUMBER of? So far - name ONE
@Kazinsal Dream Theater have never done anything as creative, technically difficult or innovative as Hemispheres from a musical standpoint that album is a bolt out of nowhere. Dream Theater have what? 30 years of prog bands releasing albums to draw inspiration from, who did Rush have? less than half a dozen and none of them in a style at all similar to their own.
@PrimericanIdol OK, U finally stumped me! considering the many incarnations of KC & influenes (I'm currently doing The Court, cover) & so diggin it, more fun than even limelight, so love the professor, but Bruford is just inconceivable - does that even count as drumming?& Alan white YES! Point being, comparing technical prowess of one man or God with WHICH incarnation of KC or compared with so many = Still close. Who to play with or chill if stranded? 4ever RUSH! Though GD or Yes'd be real cool 2
When I was 11, Grace Under Pressure was released. I'm Canadian, but was living overseas at the time as my parents were working overseas. At that age, was just getting into rock music and mostly enjoyed metal bands at the time. My older bro gave me his GUP cassette to listen in my walkman and I said "WTF is this shit"..lol. He replied "hey dumbass, they're a great band and Canadian" It took a few more years discovering more types of music, and became a HUGE Rush fan and have been ever since!!!!
I'll see rush live in montreal for my third time , seriously I can't stop listening this song , I love all songs from rush. At 0:42 Geddy seem to be sad or concentrate , this song will always be the king song for people who lived bullying.
@Bilbo490 Should be sad or playing subdivisions in their 2011 tour? , hope yes ! and sad for sure , I will never being happy while listening this song.
Is Alex's mic even turned on? :-)

Rush and Iron Maiden are the only bands that are better now than they were 25 years ago!!

One of the few bands on this planet that rivals Rush (IMO is better than Rush) in terms of technicality.... is KING CRIMSON!

@PrimericanIdol Then you are retarded.
Karmarghh 1 year ago
@PrimericanIdol In terms of technicality, there are a number of bands who surpass Rush (like Dream Theater). But you can't out-awesome Rush.
Kazinsal 1 year ago
@Kazinsal technically IYO! IMO - NOT! I Love DT but sorry, Portnoy as awesome & innovative is no professor, and Geddy, well that little dynamo destroys on bass & synths & outsings LaBrie. That'sjust technically, creatively you could argue this concetp over that, & Octavarium is a fave, but it's no 2112, and that was ? years ago, & Rush is sti?ll in the game. I don't usually do these comparison things, I just don't get that technically DT surpasses Rush, and as for a NUMBER of? So far - name ONE
mythtree 1 year ago
@mythtree Constant Motion. In the Presence of Enemies is also quite technical. Oh, and The Dance of Eternity. And the rest of Scenes from a Memory.
