  • Is Alex's mic even turned on? :-)

  • That's the best version of this I've seen. Thank you!

  • Amazing!

  • How Freakin great is THAT!

  • It's from the heavens!!

  • perfection-absolute perfection!

  • more beautiful watching this in the Youtube HTML5 Player. 720p looks more smooth and crisp.

  • When you hear the first "subdivisions" that guy that throws his arms out jizzed in his pants, you can tell.

  • What's with the laundry?

  • @dustinlouder Geddy doesn't use amps anymore (runs his bass into the venue's sound system or some other sorcery), so he puts various silly things back there.

  • They sound like an orchestra, and they´re only 3.. 3 monsters

  • Canada finally shows off there talent.

  • Do Rush wash their clothes on stage? lol

  • @LowerSaxony100 It'd be hilarious if they did. He's also had vending machines, chicken rotisseries, and other stuff up there. Those laundry machines actually had exclusive shirts in them which they threw out for the audience during the show.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • TEMAZO BRUTAL

  • Dude, this video is incredible!!!! I love it.

  • LOL even the live version has bad sound quality.

The Signals album was recorded on junk tape stock.

    Excellent song by the way.

  • Someone should write a novel about this band

  • @jaybounjr They already made a feature-length documentary: Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage. It's pretty damn good.

  • can anyone figure out what the sign says that the girl holds up at 0:34 - 0:35 ...looks like "thanks for the music" but a little more than that. hah thats awesome. I bet that makes Geddy and Alex so happy to see stuff like that.

  • @nathantim

the sign says "Thanks for the Meet + Greet in Stuttgart"

  • @FootSoler Danke! I cant see how you figured that out, were you there or something?lol. Damn, I wish I was. I saw them in 1996(Dec 2 )when I was 16. A friend had an extra ticket [terrible seats though, & bad sound/venue] he said if I drive all of us (I was the only one with a license/car) the ticket was mine. I said sure! I was really into Metallica+Iron Maiden at the time but I knew Rush were good musicians...I left that concert a different person. Started buying their albums immediately.

  • This is a great performance! I wouldve hated to be the person that pressed the thumbs down on accident :-/

  • A vida é cheia de dificuldades, mas quando escuto Rush sinto uma espécie de transe onde esqueço o que me encomoda......É um prazer que sinto que não tem explicação.

  • 1 person wasnt subdivised

  • Come to spain please!

  • im starting my second week of high school today and this song has been oh so dear to me the past week

  • @superslayerguy

same here =) good ole tiimes

  • @superslayerguy

same here =) good ole tiimes

made me want to see what else they had

  • At 1:47 someone's very excited about Alex's backup vocals.

  • First Rush song I ever heard, and still my favorite as I look into Rush's other stuff. The lyrics speak to me so clearly.

  • Awesome!

Saw the show here in Phoenix. Got very lucky last minute tickets $2-300 less than original asking price! Row 16 center stage! Never been that lucky purchasing tickets.

  • 1:07 is it me or Alex looks kinda bored?

  • RUSH is righteous. Best band in the universe.

  • 1 person grew up in a subdivison

  • The one guy that disliked this thought the button read: dis i like

  • Under Neils hat is a superclock more accurate that the earths rotation that all clocks in the world are set by.

  • Under Neils head is a superclock more accurate that the earths rotation that all clocks in the world are set by.

  • 1 person has parkinson's disease

  • What concert was this?

  • @SurferDream19 30th anniversary (R30).

  • @a7xsuckcock Comes with a genuine chef sometimes.

  • this song is one of those rush songs that speaks to me EXTREMELY clearly.

  • I just <3 Rush!

  • And snack machines...

  • @mcsew2k said he got tired of playing so loud to hear himself it was ridiculous that now everything runs through the rack and his live signal comes back in the p.e.m's so he decided to use snack and washing machines as his backline instead of mountain of ampeg svt's furman power cond. tech21 preamps and a compression chain and thats it the board does all the heavy lifting now

  • I own this DVD yet I watched this entire video on You-Tube. Love this band and with every passing year I love them even more.

  • I photographed Rush in 75 and 77. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • Webster's...... .definition Cohesive = Rush

  • On the DVD Geddy speaks German before this song... what does he say????

  • @RushFan413 He just says Thank you in german ;)

  • @TheRealPlum Yeah I know... but after he says thank you he Says "I'll try to speak some German for you. Forgive me..." If you listen to Subdivisions on Working Men you'll know what I'm talking about...

  • I THINK TOO, the best band ever !!!! When you ask peoples, someones say in (don't) knowing of RUSH: "I don't know", I don't understand this level.

  • @ewq14

    totaly!!!

  • seeing this song live made my life

  • no shit

  • A heart-wrenching version of my favorite Rush song. Not a shred of doubt that these guys know exactly what it means to be an outsider. And how utterly empty suburban life can be. (The way out is the way in.)

  • the soul of an individual brought me here.

  • i just saw these guys live in LA today, top notch!

  • Grosos!!!!!!!

  • yea Canadian flag in the front row at the begining : D

  • esta perrooooooooototote

  • @Gregrg7 because rush doing my laundy probably costs some money

  • This like watching God eat his breakfast.

  • why is there a washing machine on stage?

  • @allmetaliswelcome Why not?

  • @allmetaliswelcome Didn't you know Rush always do their laundry during their concerts, its a Canadian thing, HA!

  • how sick is this song?????

    one of my favs

  • Saw them yesterday in Rotterdam, great concert! They played classical stuff (Spirit of Radio as opening, YYZ, 2112, Temples of Syrinx, Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer) and new songs from the upcoming album. They played two songs in a new arrangement, other rhythm and tempo. Great sound, lights and video, hilarious too! Neil's solo is different again, as usual... Had a great evening! For those who have the change to see them: have fun and enjoy! :-)

  • @nweenink Think you mean Overture and Temples of Syrinx, both are part of 2112 but great arrangements no doubt! Saw them in '07 for their Snakes & Arrows tour, great stuff!

  • When ever I watch this I get hungry and have the urge to do laundry?

  • THIS SUNDAY IN FRANKFURT!!! ARGH!!!!!!! YYEEEEEEEEEEEEESS!! ;)

  • i wonder if geddy or alex or neil ever watch these videos and read these comments, everyone loves you rush, and if you happen to be reading this, i thought you should know I;m watching this video from my home town of toronto ontario, long live 416!

  • 1 dislike...hmmm. No one who is fully conscious could never do that, so my conclusion would be that someone has accidentally pushed something while masturbating on this song. Anyway, Thumbs UP from Finland!!

  • @CastoII Nah, they were overcome by the insanely Sane lyrical style of Neil Peart. I agree, Rush ... is.

  • @CastoII best comment on Youtube mate

  • Not shabby three piece!

  • what moron disiked this?

  • wow who ever thinks that alex is an underrated guitarist is fuckin dumb this is the most amazing band ever in all feilds

  • @robertbombino999 no doubt now and forever...a group among gods with no peers....

  • Saw these guys back in April..they played this and I instantly got chills...best band I've ever seen live.

  • I wanna buy the DVD, if there's avaible here in Brazil :)

  • Best rock band ever, miles above the rest, need we say more!!

  • Gonna see them for the first time live in two weeks... at the same venue!!! :D

  • i love this concert

  • Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! FUCK YEAH!

  • anyone who thinks Alex Lifeson is not underrated doesn't get it...and the reason he is underrated is because Geddy and Neil are such MONSTER FUCKING MUSICIANS...when you hear Alex's guitar riffs ...you know exactly who is playing...that is monster enuff!!!!...he never is mistaken for anyone else...and listening to alot of the rock/new wave bands of the 80's...90's...sounds like Lifeson had a big influence on them......

  • It sounds like someone is still playing bass when Geddy is on the keys. How do they do it?

  • @cbburtraw At around 0:24 you can see Geddy pulsing some low notes with his left hand so I'm not sure if thats it (on many keyboards you can assign different sounds to individual or groups of keys) and other times they use bass pedals (such as those on an organ) like at the beginning of Tom sawyer. It is also possible that Geddy has the keyboard hooked up to control the bass pedals when he plays certain keys

  • @AnchovyRun I have the sheet music for This song, and the low notes never change during the song..

  • @Undertaker4150 Like I said at 0:24 you can see geddy just pulsing the notes that hes playing, not changing them but just striking them rhythmically. All that being said I dont play keyboard so I could be completely wrong. Just trying to help a brother out! =)

  • 5:00 typical at a rush concert haha

  • Absolutamente perfeito!!!!!!

  • @VajinalBloodFart - Too funny. You're wife will never need to see another concert (except for Rush of course) as she cannot top what she is about to see.

  • Absolutely one of the most perfect bands doing one of the most perfect pieces of musical craftsmanship of the last 40 years. Yep, that's a huge revelation but get this straight now...it's the fucking truth. I partied with Geddy and Alex on more than one occasion and they are awesome ambassadors of the musical world. They don't do drugs and that allows them to stay so focussed on their craft. I've met Neil twice and he is just a very quiet and humble man who doesn't care much for the limelight.

  • Who's better, Neil Peart or God?

Trick question. Neil Peart IS god.

  • musical gods! any band u like now got there musical influence from rush

  • Gives me the chill everytime!

    RUSH FOREVER

    ME TOO!

  • 1 person missed the like button.

  • SON DE OTRO PLANETA EN SERIO NO HAY OTROS COMO ELLOS Y ESA CANCION ME ENCANTA THE BEST AMERICAN BAND

  • shits hard to do on drums

  • How the hell does Geddy Lees voice stay that way?! Hax. :D

  • @SeveChibi It's slightly lower than it used to be, but still a great voice. It's really a miracle that it's still so good considering that he used to smoke.

  • i love playing this song

  • G-STAR RAW

  • Me gusta mucho esta cancion de Rush

  • One of their mid career best no doubt about it.

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin Mid-career? What're you talking about man? Rush is just entering their mid-career now!

  • @dtoliaferro THEIR NEW MUSIC IS NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO THEIR EARLY YEARS,YOU MIGHT LIKE THEIR NEWER STUFF BUT I FIND THEIR NEW STUFF BORING AND OLD AND REHASHED,IF YOU LIKE THEIR PAST MID CAREER STUFF, NO DISRESPECT TO YOU, "ROCK ON"!!!!

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin

    Whoa, no need to shout.

Let's get it straight. I love every era of Rush. From the hard rock Zepp/Who influenced stuff of their first album, to the progressive rock style albums afterwards (Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, etc), to the new wave/Caribbean influenced sounds of their 80's era, and onward.

Today's Rush sounds different, but that's what they're known for. They're 3 guys who are constantly evolving musically, and are better than any new "rock" band, period.

  • @dtoliaferro After 40 years + they are beyond mid career, I wish it was not so as these guys 'KICK ASS:!!!!!

  • only rush could have 3 people play epic bass drums guitar and keyboard while singing and getting their laundry done at the same time

  • the person who doesn't like this is probably jann wenner. what a douche. he thinks putting idiots like justin bieber and snooki on the cover of rolling stone is cool. fuck that guy.

  • I'm a big fan of other rock n roll bands like KISS, AC/DC...But these guys..they are amazing!!!!!!! My favorite band is KISS but I admit they are much more talented...they born to do it!!!! It might be something idiot..but if you take Rush's talent and put it together to KISS' stage show......It will form the perfect band.....Rush has an amazing show!!!!^^Brazil

  • Me gusta.

  • 4:26 EPIC!

  • Nem tem o que comentar!!! Show!!!!

  • Such an amazing band, such great music. I hope they play this song at the concert in Vancouver to kick off the summer this year!

  • holy fuck, im proud to be canadian!

  • The are doing fine. Solid career of almost 40 years, every show is sold out, and they are greatly respected not only by fans but most rock bands in the industry. Rush is a top rated band, just not popular with the media (Rolling Stone, etc..) so it is easy to dismiss how big they are.

  • It damm well should be.

  • I hate when I see all the post about alex being an 'underrated guitarist'. I rate him very high!

  • @jeffs1000 He doesn't get the credit he deserves. Rush is/should be a top world rated band like U2.

  • @jeffs1000 I think what they mean is over looked, but those who do find him rate him rather high.

  • @jeffs1000 It's just a sad reality that the majority of people you might tell "Alex Lifeson is among my top 3 favourite guitarists" will likely reply "Who is Alex Lifeson?"

He's underrated because he deserves so much more notoriety, of course we rate him very high, its just a matter of spreading the Lifeson gospel.

  • @jeffs1000 i agree, alex is truly an amazing guitar-artist

  • @jeffs1000 hmmm...They mean underrated by the industry sir! Of course all of us Rush fans rate him very high!

  • @jeffs1000 Agreed!

Alex is underrated because Geddy and Neil are monsters! (u.u')

But, Alex is an awsome guitarrist!

  • @jeffs1000 well alex isn't getting as much appreciation that he should. his "choice of weapon" is just a difficult one

  • @jeffs1000 Don't worry, anyone with an IQ above 80 rates him high ;)

  • @jeffs1000 I disagree. He is underrated. I rate him highly but I can't rate him highly enough. Hes why I learned to play guitar.

  • @jeffs1000 He's in a band with a drummer like the devil himself on drums and a guy that does EVERYTHING amazing. Therefore, when people talk about Rush, between friends / family / whatever, most conversations would revolve around these two and, lastly, Alex. Whereas if he was in pretty much any other group, people would talk about him firstly. So he is underrated, because he deserves more talk about him that it actually happens. Definitely though, without him the band wouldn't be as legendary.

  • EXCELENTE !!!!!!

  • this song is life changing to the youth of are nation!!

  • Best band Ever!

    Gives me the chill everytime!

    RUSH FOREVER

  • @ewq14 i agree with you my rush friend this band was and still is awesome surely they where much powerful in their concerts when they were younger back in the seventies and eighties but still awesome

  • Love Rush. LOVE THEM OR ELSE.

  • What makes neil peart peart great is his precision and touch on the drums. The guy can play a basic 4/4 and make it sound like a million dollars. He's very proficient player

  • VH-1 Classic aired the Frankfurt r30 concert this evening. I'm going to see if this is on DVD. Oh. Wait. It is.

  • Comment removed

  • I'll see them june 10th, new orleans!!!

  • 4:58 Reefer?

  • I like how the spot lights are on them at the beginning, like 3 musical gods.... and then the dryers get your attention

  • Rush and Iron Maiden are the only bands that are better now than they were 25 years ago!!

  • One of the few bands on this planet that rivals Rush (IMO is better than Rush) in terms of technicality.... is KING CRIMSON!

  • @PrimericanIdol In terms of technicality, there are a number of bands who surpass Rush (like Dream Theater). But you can't out-awesome Rush.

  • @Kazinsal technically IYO! IMO - NOT! I Love DT but sorry, Portnoy as awesome & innovative is no professor, and Geddy, well that little dynamo destroys on bass & synths & outsings LaBrie. That'sjust technically, creatively you could argue this concetp over that, & Octavarium is a fave, but it's no 2112, and that was ? years ago, & Rush is sti?ll in the game. I don't usually do these comparison things, I just don't get that technically DT surpasses Rush, and as for a NUMBER of? So far - name ONE

  • @mythtree Constant Motion. In the Presence of Enemies is also quite technical. Oh, and The Dance of Eternity. And the rest of Scenes from a Memory.

  • @Kazinsal Dream Theater have never done anything as creative, technically difficult or innovative as Hemispheres from a musical standpoint that album is a bolt out of nowhere. Dream Theater have what? 30 years of prog bands releasing albums to draw inspiration from, who did Rush have? less than half a dozen and none of them in a style at all similar to their own.

  • @PrimericanIdol OK, U finally stumped me! considering the many incarnations of KC & influenes (I'm currently doing The Court, cover) & so diggin it, more fun than even limelight, so love the professor, but Bruford is just inconceivable - does that even count as drumming?& Alan white YES! Point being, comparing technical prowess of one man or God with WHICH incarnation of KC or compared with so many = Still close. Who to play with or chill if stranded? 4ever RUSH! Though GD or Yes'd be real cool 2

  • Only band I would pay to see.

  • Wow. Simply awesome!

  • Lo mas grande!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL! Geddy's face at 5:27!

  • RUSH FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What kind of band is this?

I mean there's nothing like it and I really don't think that there will ever be.

Rush, the best band ever !!

  • When I was 11, Grace Under Pressure was released. I'm Canadian, but was living overseas at the time as my parents were working overseas. At that age, was just getting into rock music and mostly enjoyed metal bands at the time. My older bro gave me his GUP cassette to listen in my walkman and I said "WTF is this shit"..lol. He replied "hey dumbass, they're a great band and Canadian" It took a few more years discovering more types of music, and became a HUGE Rush fan and have been ever since!!!!

  • Right on tpreagan. Been a Rush fan for 22 years.

  • only video I've EVER seen with 0 dislikes! Fuck yeah!

  • @Dnozzle2794 FUCK whoever disliked it

  • I'll see rush live in montreal for my third time , seriously I can't stop listening this song , I love all songs from rush. At 0:42 Geddy seem to be sad or concentrate , this song will always be the king song for people who lived bullying.

  • @RushBigFanL94 it should be.

  • @Bilbo490 Should be sad or playing subdivisions in their 2011 tour? , hope yes ! and sad for sure , I will never being happy while listening this song.

  • @RushBigFanL94 the song for those who are victims of bullying.

  • @Bilbo490 Exactly Bilbo , Is it your favorite song of rush?

  • @RushBigFanL94 absolutely

  • There's no match for these guys...3 guys that are the master's of their instruments!
