  • This song is so deep on so many levels. Rush Rocks!

  • solid Gold

  • Geedy himself said that "we will pay the price, but we will not count the cost" is one of his favorite lyrics. I've always loved "roll the bones" and think it got a bad rap as "the dark album." These songs about fate, randomness and chance are beautiful.

  • holy crap. there are only 3 people in rush? i thought it was like 10 people their sound is soo big!

  • the best the world has ever seen or heart

  • Love from sweden - Rush forever ROCK ON

  • it's a shame that 4 people watched this while smoking crack.

  • @seawaters2112 they are literally retarted. Greatest band ever

  • This is not an official video but whose cameras are these? I see different angles being edited together.

  • Truly awesome musicians. I have been a fan since 1982, my freshman year in high school. These guys still rock!

  • I know I'm in the minority here, but to me, one of the BEST Rush songs ever!!!!

  • @hogwild6161 You totally arent, i agree

  • @hogwild6161 - I'm in it with you, this is one of their very best and in fact, Geddy feels the same way about it. It is indeed powerful, POWERFUL stuff!

  • @hogwild6161 You are not in the minority.

  • @hogwild6161 no..no..you're not minority...great song my friend...:))

  • geddy lee's voice is the most peculiar i have heard and i fell in love with his voice the moment i heard him sing

  • @shayneross1 My story is exactly the same. I heard him trill the opening lines of Closer to the Heart and the rest is history. :)

  • i love Geddy lee

  • 4:20 Amazing guitar solo by Lifeson. :)

  • Three virtuosos that they have repealed egos and create an intense music, intelligent, creative and so powerful that it borders on perfection

  • Najlepsza kapela na Świecie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poprostu poezja

  • May Rush forever inspire teenage boys to turn Mom's basement into a practice space - and to play smart, heartfelt , imaginative rock. May they forever inspire old guys to keep doing that. (Okay, you can move out of Mom's house ...)

Love the song, especially Alex's solo.

  • TOP 5 ROCK BANDS IN THE WORLD

  • Very Good Song!!!

  • Amazing and Beautiful!

  • Hey. Who let 4 Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga fans on here?!? Lol

  • Thumbs up if they should play this on the time machine tour!

  • Love the Tellie... country bumpkin...lol Alex loves his "different strings"

  • a modest tax

hell no from the hellions of hell

    support the weak or infirm?

    /watch?v=Ftbu34qdLIc

hell no. ok, i will pay my EXTRA tax (price)sure but to what end?

forget you liberal crap. sometimes fiscal responsiility will end up for counting costs for generations past andd future kings. douchebags 2011

  • this is my opinion of course...but this is the absolute best song ever written. I've thought this for eight years now. I listen to TONS of music...but this is the one song I ALWAYS come back to.

  • WOW. Saw this tour in Monteal in 1991. Alex Lifeson's guitar work brings chills in last minute and a half.... AWESOME. I Love This Band. Long live Rush!!! Hope they tour soon.

  • @jsw6810 They are touring now. I seen them last Aug. and am seeing them again in June. They, in my opinion are the best band to see live. Absolutely remarkable.

  • Wow. This song is 20years old now.I have loved this song since 91.

  • Saw this band live twice, pure class

  • How can such stunningly beautiful and true lyrics be accompannied by music flawlessly embodying emotions uncommonly felt through any other form of art, literature, or experience? Oh wait this is RUSH. Sorry everybody i just answered my own question.

  • Like Simple Minds, Rush is without equal. Ged, Alex and Neil compliment each other beautifully and fully. There's a reason they've been friends for so long...and it's that friendship between the three men that exists beyond the music. It is the music that binds them. All three members of this band are undervalued in a society that thinks Justin Bieber or Susan Boyle constitute talent. These men are virtuosos ahead of their time. The message is the key. Listen!

  • @obscuremedia thanks for the Simple Minds reference; c moon cry like a baby was in my mind all day today.

  • @shavepate You're more than welcome. Most of the time I have Graffiti Soul or Moscow Underground. Of their old stuff, mostly Up on the Catwalk, Colours Fly and Catherine Wheel, Theme for Great Cities, or Someone, Somewhere In Summertime. C Moon is one of my faves.

  • @obscuremedia do u find it at all strange that simple minds and rush fans find each other? i don't.

  • @shavepate Nope. Jim's lyrics are just as profound as Neil's and Charlie's music is just as intricate as Ged and Alex's. It seems both The Minds and Rush have always gotten the short end of the stick and neither have been accepted as the true artisans they are. Somehow they've both managed to 'Stay Visible' (Simple Minds reference) yet under the radar. I find Alex and Charlie comparable as well as Mel and Neil. As lead singers, Jim Kerr and Geddy Lee are unmatched. Too bad Jim doesn't play bass.

  • @obscuremedia thanks - couldn't have said it better!

  • I can´t believe someone disliked this!

    Perfection, your name is RUSH!

  • This was from the Radio City Music Hall, New York.

  • diese Gitarre...... :-))

das Lied wird mir wohl ewig nicht aus dem Kopf gehen woooouhh

  • diese gitarre...... :-))

das Lied wird mir wohl ewig nicht aus dem Kopf gehen woooouhh

  • great rush song

  • Rush is one of the best rock bands ever. I like them so much, even I like them more than Led Zeppelin or similar bands. My favourite three - Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Type O Negative.

  • What a beautiful song! No wonder I love Rush so much!

  • this one of the "new" rush songs I truly love.

  • If we keep our pride, tough paradise is lost WE WILL PAY THE PRICE

but we will not count the cost!!!

  • yeah !

  • @leathanL Rush dont deny the advances in tech....they use them to great advantage...... STILL the greatest 3 piece EVER bar none!

  • some people are just better than everyone else.

these are a few of those people.

  • Rush would be one of the few bands I trust to "actually play" their own music, as opposed to using cheesy backing tracks (like practically all "performers" these days).

That said, where are the synthesizers and harmony vocals coming from in this performance?

  • @LeathanL Both Alex and Geddy play synths with foot pedals, Alex does the BGs

  • contrary to popular belief, everything to the 0th power is not 1; Rush to the 0th power is still infinity.

  • Always a great song !!

  • 20 Anhos oyendo Rush y no me canso...me sé todas sus canciones de memoria...

  • Get it live RUSH! Three guys doing something we ravel in and embrace rather than a gaggle of politics finding respect in a chosen few.

  • rush simply couldn't exist without those specific 3 guys, in the sense that they have found that magical synergy, all excellent and accomplished in their own right, not just technically, but in texture and mood.. WHICH, by the way, ALEX is the master link in the chain... I like to think of it this way....alex is the glue that allows the incomprehensible talents of lee and peart to meet in the middle and meld..the unique rush sound is not possible without alex

  • @jimmyplanet that is a sentiment that is rarely talked about. just how much ALEX is the link the bridges the gap between geddy and neil. well said !!!

  • I agree w/ everyone here. Alex gets overlooked because Neil and Geddy's talent show in more overt/in-your-face ways. But Alex's contributions are amazing and enormously important too, plus, he can solo with the best of 'em. Definitely can't (and don't want to) imagine Rush without Lerxst...

  • Comment removed

  • RUSH. Top 5 band ever.

  • That guitar solo RAWKS

  • can anyone tell me what stop(city) on the R30 tour this was filmed

  • @robert71457 rotterdam......

  • This is the only RUSH bassline that I can play. lol ...

RUSH are the end product in the evolutionary line of The Rock Band. Perfectly adapted to their environment of creating and performing their signature style of rock music. RUSH the band and RUSH the music have evolved beyond their rock `n roll/hard rock genesis and into an even higher art form...a kind of Meta-Rock if you will.

  • what editing software do you use? on windows ( or mac ) I suppose

  • Alex Lifeson's "Victor" kicked ass.

  • I rediscovered this song yesterday and I've probably listened to it ten times since. So amazing.

  • Along with Subdivisions, Bravado are the songs that I MOST LOVE from Rush!

  • I am looking for the version of this song played in their DVD in Rio... sublime!!!! I just love it. If anyone knows where I could get it I will appreciate the information. Love to all.

  • @carolduranfan it's on the cd. i'm pretty sure it's available on itunes. i'd buy the cd, it's great.

  • @carolduranfan buy the album?

  • OMG...Alex inspired me to play guitar...and now I remember why all those years ago.

    Love you Alex

  • 3 negative ratings = 3 pin-heads...

  • alex has telecaster ?

  • LOVED R30, have the Jersey and the pins to remember. Thanks for the post!!

  • Alex's solo is very emotional...As well as the song.

  • Phenomenal guitar solo. They're supposed to be putting out their 19th album this spring or summer.

  • Wasn't Snakes and Arrows their 19th album?? If so, that makes a new one their 20thhhhh! :D

  • Give Neil a chance to be with his new daughter.

  • My favourite track from the Roll The Bones album :)

    I love Alex's solo :D

  • Listened to this song like 20 times in a row New Year's Eve the year that album came out.

  • They're not just awesome, they're an anomaly!

  • I'm trying to think of one of Alex's solos that surpasses this one. On the Rush In Rio DVD it's phenomenal.

  • hey I a telecaster that looks absolutely the same!!! the color is called "natural finish".

but it´s not the same, mine is a woman from korea, a new series. whatever, a 50s telecaster is a 50s telecaster... only if it´s a fender.

  • música linda e a letra é muito boa..... uma das melhores músicas que já ouvi....marca bons tempos....

  • exelent song . 10 points

  • I was reading Neil's The Ghost Rider and he put in a quote from this song that was perfect in the context. I had forgotten how great this song is because of the overall mediocrity of the rest of Roll The Bones.

  • dude that book was absoloutely awesome. it was sooo moving!! and you're right that quote was really perfect

  • One of my fave rush 80's song's no fancy 80 track production just a solid, albeit simple...but effective song

  • One day God called a meeting. He, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It was a big deal. God said, "we shall create a rock band, and I want each of you to choose a musician to add to my band."

    Thus was born RUSH.

  • So THAT'S the true story of how RUSH was formed!

That's the coolest thing I've ever heard!

    ...in my LIFE!!!

  • that is actually a pretty cool solo lerxst plays at the end. :-)

  • Polish version; Jesli skrzydla spalimy. Lecac do slonca zbyt znacznie. Jesli moment olsnienia, zakonczy sie, zanim sie zacznie. Jesli sen nie zgasnie... Czekam na dalsza czesc fanow angielskiego.

  • i'm reading one of neil peart's books right now. it's really really good. very smooth prose and extremely touching subject matter. having just taken a road trip myself, and about to take another one, i think i can relate to some of the content. i would hazard calling the man a genius.

  • The last 2 minutes is amazing...pure art

  • neil...... O_O oh my god.... the best only the best

  • Neil looks like Marcus Fenix. Badass.

  • Lol I agree. I always thought he looked like familiar to someone else I've seen. But correction, Marcus Fenix looks like Neil Peart.

  • Alex writes some of the most poignant and emotion filled guitar solos on earth. He's simply amazing, especially live.

  • lifeson is the hidden power within rush,,, all music is first and foremost what lifeson comes up with,, then gedy playes around with the riffs.. lifeson the puts the drum machine,,, and then they use neils lyrics... and after all that neil playes the drums over the machine,, fact stated by all of them on how they write...

  • you might want to research the whole 'drum machine... and then Neil plays over the drum machine" thing. i don't think that's an accurate representation of how they write / record.

  • Alex and Geddy explain the writing process on the documentary on the second disc of rush in rio. They write a basic version with a drum machine and then send the files to Neil for lyrics then he writes his drum parts.

  • I totally agree...alex gets overlooked compared to Neil and GEDDY BUT ALEX IS THE KEY HIDDEN POWER BEHIND RUSH..WITHOUT HIS EMOTIONAL AND INNOVATIVE GUITAR PLAYING, THEN RUSH WOULD NOT BE NEARLY AS GREAT.....

  • RUSH is one of those oh-so rare cases of three musicians coming together who are not only masters of their craft individually, but compliment each other perfectly as well.

I often say that Alex is badly under-rated as a rythm player. His knowledge & mastery of using just the right chords to invoke a certain mood is unmatched by anyone.

  • Alex Lifeson has always been under-rated as a guitarist period. He's up there with the greatest of all-time!!

  • He's definately up there. If you notice he always improvises that end solo every time and always sounds amazing. Just watch all the different live bravado videos and u will see

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed! I had always under-rated him as well until I finally got seats up close and was able to watch him play! Simply amazing! one of the best!!

  • I hadn't heard this one in awhile. Great song... hauntingly sad, but still a great song.

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid I agree. But Alex is only underrated because the other two - Geddy and Neil, are so talented that Alex gets overlooked.

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid well said. Anyone who's a good guitarist can see that Alex uses chords that most bands don't use. Not to mention, he is an incredible lead player. He doesn't play for show, he plays for the emotional content of a song.

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid You hit it right on the head... chord master. He was badly overshadowed by a lot of other great players who had more technical expertise in the soloing department (Rhoads, Van Halen, Vai, etc.), but Alex's chord work really created Rush's sound. His solos were always great too!

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid Alex invents chords, tones, textures, emotions and himself...he's likely the most important guitarist ever. no one has done more.

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid lyrically, musically , spiritually and loyally...the greatest band to ever grace a stage...and they truly love playing with each other and for their fans...i consider myself privileged to call myself and rush fan and know their music to the depths that i do...

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid alex is under recognized because his greatest strength is in his rhythm playing. and people don't usually pay attention to that kind of thing.

  • @TheOriginalAnalogKid Chord structures are/will be his legacy.... Fast too

  • Alex is amazing but he is so overlooked because Geddy and Neil both do amazing things that have never been done before, thats y he is over looked

  • This album was quite a work. Actually a service to the listeners more than anything else an album could be. Like when someone does you a favor and you have heart felt appreciation. Thats the way I feel about this album, I appreciate it. A bardic work.

  • melhor música e melhor banda da face da terra!

  • I'm not exactly the biggest Rush fan, (not that I don't like them, because I really do, there are just some other bands I like better) but this song is SO AMAZING!

  • They've only got so many love songs for one thing. This love seems bigger than just between two people.

    My two cents.

  • Well said.

  • Thanks FinnClan.

Check out my top nine favorites if you want to hear some good Rush songs at least for right now.

I often change the top nine favorites at my site.

  • I feel that Alex is really underrated...especially compared to other great guitarists. He's on my Top 5 guitar players.

  • we will pay the price but will not count the cost ;]

  • true that harrybrandy...but fuck..this band is so amazing xD i love it =)

  • Alex isn't underrated

it's just that he is surrounded by two musicians

    who are even better.

but there's no mistake about his importance, build ups, chords structures and emotions....

He's the true starman for sure... at least his playing

    brings me there!!

All the best to you rush fans

  • Neil Peart is the best!!!!!! Go Rush!!

  • Great Song.

  • love remains, i didn't even know it was sick, catacombs

  • Noone is better than Lifeson

  • hendrix, page, beck, stevie ray, just to name a few...dont get me wrong. i love lifeson, and im a die hard rush fan, but come on.

  • Jimmy Page is better than Lifeson? In what respect? His playing is unbelievably sloppy, and he cannot even compete against Alex in terms of stylistic diversity. In fact, NONE of the guitarists you mention can compete with Alex in terms of stylistics diversity with the POSSIBLE exception of Beck. You could put Alex in a blues band and he would be fantastic. If you put Stevie Ray Vaughn in Rush he wouldn't have a clue about how to play.

  • i agree with you,his guitar playing is something special,i might be wrong but original too, when you've heard one guitarist you just about heard them all !!!

  • saw this band in doncaster sumtime last year (2008) in a small bar with about 50 people in it lol i didn't realise they were this big. the lead singer helped me choose my new amp XD

  • that is awesome! where is doncaster?

  • this just shows you how much alex kicks ass

  • i hope and prey they tour just one more time....

  • amen man,i young so ive only seen em twice and i want 2 c them again so bad

  • As of right now, they are planning to head out again in 2011 (YAY!)

  • where did you hear that?!

  • geddy has mentioned it in a bunch of different interviews over the last few months

  • i hope your right, but they have said nothing about when they r touring again, but an interview with alex over the radio said they are coming back next year :)

  • RUSH is One of the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

  • davvero molto bella come canzone!!!...rush i migliori in assoluto!!!!

  • como pa ir en una carretera manejando un mustang a 200km/h seguido x la policia x ser asesino... muy buena kancion...

  • :44

  • at 0:44, you can see a little tv like screen. The lyrics show up there aand Geddy lee uses that if he needs to RUSH ROCKS!

  • @PackersBrewersROCK:

    damn! it's not Rush - it's Rush-Karaoke!

    ;-) lol

    beautiful song.

  • A beautiful song if I've ever heard one.

  • Huh, Alex improvs on a song not from their hard rock/blues days? Interesting.

  • Alex is the next best thing to Jeff Beck..every note counts

  • This is without a doubt my favourite RUSH song ever! Definately a dessert island song!

  • Desert. Unless you eat the island after dinner?

  • Great song, it shows the more emotional side of Rush.

  • Ok. Fine. I'll just get over myself and agree with everybody else. This song ROCKS!!

  • fantastica musica!!!!

  • omg so good ! This song is great !

  • Oh My God. This is... great...

This is best Bravado version. This is even better than on the album in my opinion.

    Greetings.

  • RUSH is easily one of rock's greatest legends...so few can even compare to their consistancy and quality...RUSH 4 LIFE!!!

  • the drums in this song are flat out amazing. genius.

  • how did u get this vid?

  • DVD rip. i have it 2 ^^ they rock

  • ah ok. does he have any vids?

  • Masterpiece!

  • ahaha 49 u see lorne wheaton
