When you were taking video of this, did you take still photos? The angle where it's rounding the bend is really cool. Nice video and great camera work with the zooming...
@cchan006 nah those are the new observation cars amtrak is buying , amtraks gonna replace their whole fleet with new cars and locos , these superliners in this video are the current and new refurbished superliners , those are the newest paint schemes thats why theirs no superliner lettering on the cars .
@cchan006 Also, while the standard Superliner Sightseer Lounge is open to all passengers, the Pacific Parlour Cars are reserved for 1st Class (Sleeping Car) Passengers only.
I sure hate to burst all of you poster's bubble but our rail system here sucks. If you want to ride real trains, you should ride the ones in Europe, Japan, China, and even Taiwan which I have done. The trains there travel at a speeds 3 to 4 times faster than any train here in the US. The only thing with riding the rails here is that, you get to see the countryside because you are traveling so slowly. They are lucky to reach 70 miles per hour.

Nice unexpected reflection in the standing water. I like how the train floats in off a big prairie, and so you're lulled into thinking you're out in the middle of nowhere, and then you pan left at the end and discover you're in town. The bells startled me cuz it looked like the train was never going to pass anywhere near you when the video began, so I certainly had no idea you were anywhere near a crossing. That will teach me to assume!
funny even in the middle of nowhere Amtrak STILL cant floor it lol, in the good old days thats when the trains just didnt care and high tailed it as fast as they could
The US, especially Cali, should invest in at least one bullet train that would cover the entire CA or the Pacific Coast from LA to Seattle. That would be awesome and would help with the domestic congestion created with airlines and air traffic population.
@trainfan1143 I think it's great to see someone fairly young who's so into trains, but Amtrak's service in the NE Corridor is abysmally slow. I live in Pittsburgh, and have never found an Amtrak train that would beat a car to any location, especially not toward NY and New England. Even Acela pales in comparison to actual high-speed rail, like the AVE, TGV, Gardermoen, Eurostar, Shinkansen, ICE, you name it. The US doesn't have good passenger rail right now. Hopefully someday we'll have it again.
@pilonwenttolive its weird how America had the first train, plane, and car,but all the other nations in the world has newer, better operating trains, planes, and cars than we do.
Seriously, it isn't as easy as that. I like our trains - I like being able to enjoy the journey itself. If I wanted to get somewhere in a hurry, I'd take a plane anyway.
I seriously hope we get a chance to. I'm a libertarian, and I support that idea- proper transportation infrastructure is a necessity, not a luxury.
I also hope that when that comes along, we'll get Japan Railways quality service. You guys don't fool around at all- 99% on-time rates, spotless trains, and staff in ties, jackets, peaked caps and white gloves.
Why is the door open on the baggage car? You'd think with the door open on the baggage car, the luggage would come right out of the car, the train crew should keep the door closed while the train is moving.
If it's a Canon, does that mean you got one of the big fat things with the microphone sticking out???? you know like the ones that the news uses????? thy're like $1000
Nope, I got a much smaller entry-level DV camera, and that's all I need for now. When my video shooting skills are better refined, maybe I'll get one of those big fat things, if I can afford it.
I bought the old one in 1998 as refurbished, so it's probably older. It's an RCA 8mm camcoder. The cool thing is it allows use of standard AA size batteries, so I was in no hurry to upgrade especially since modern NiMH batteries perform extremely well. You can see from my other videos that the quality was acceptable, too.
Well, the first camera I shot trains with was an old Sony from 1983, then I used an HP Photosmart 435 in movie mode which worked for me from May 2007 until Christmas 2007, now I use an RCA Small Wonder which I got for Christmas now this Christmas, I will have a choice between a Samsung MX10 or MX20, which I'll have until I graduate High School in 3 years, and if your interested about the quality my HP camera had, see the first and 2nd videos I posted and you'll see how far superior my RCA one is

here's a question. Why isn't the name "superliner" written on the Amtrak cars anymore?

@ERAUPRCWA: It seems the "Superliner" lettering was removed when the paint scheme changed from Phase IV to Phase IVb.
