Now if it were known, for example, that the soldier in question was Waffen SS, then yes, he'd deserve no mercy. This is getting back to knowing the specifics before condemning the individual and not condemning them all like I've stated already. It's all talk until push comes to shove and history has revealed that most make compromises when the pushing starts. This becomes especially true when our decisions effect others such as our families and relatives which was absolutely the case in Nazi Germany. I think it would be entirely possible if the aircraft was banking with one of the wings dipped. Especially if the German was rising up off of a hill or high position. what is most likely I think is that, yes there were brains on the wing, but they could have come from anywhere couldn't they? Human body parts shrapnel, could have been stirred up into the air by literally dozens of things occurring during a strafing run. So I don't think anybody was lying, but how can you really find out?

This 47 pilot was buzzing along at propeller level when he saw he was going to strike a surprised German. Waiting for the sickening impact, it never came. Later on, he (& his buddies) calculated that the German made it through the propeller blades.
And that only takes into account level ground and level flying, god forbid we get into discussion of standing on embankments or the pilot dipping the wing.

@soaringstar ...I've been a commercial pilot for 22 years, mostly flying Ag Cats and yes, I've had my lower wings close enough to the ground to kill a dog jumping up at me. I prefer to keep the wings a little farther from the ground but sometimes it happens, especially if a gusty wind appears. It's not often I encounter winds like that since I begin at daylight and the wind is usually calm.

Those were internment camps, there was a VERY LOW mortality rate compared to the concentration and death camps. The people in those camps were expected to be released when the war was over, the people in German camps were expected never to leave them alive.

i know that this is highly unlikely occurence and what is actually plausible is the fact that the company producing this video simply paid some old guy to say this.
It says "Spitfire", but the plane most likely this happened with is a Hawker Hurricane. The distance from bottom of prop to bottom of wing is approx. 3'4" on a Hurricane. And on the Spitfire the distance is about 2'8" at the center of plane and 4'4" at wingtips, the distance is different since the wings angle slightly up on the Spitfire.
The Hurricane could behead a 6'0" guy and still have its' prop well over 2 ft off the ground.
Darn it you are assuming the plane is going straight and level.. Highly unlikely. Probably he was banking a little so that wingtip is close to the ground? It's possible.

I think it would be entirely possible if the aircraft was banking with one of the wings dipped. Especially if the German was rising up off of a hill or high position. what is most likely I think is that, yes there were brains on the wing, but they could have come from anywhere couldn't they? Human body parts shrapnel, could have been stirred up into the air by literally dozens of things occurring during a strafing run. So I don't think anybody was lying, but how can you really find out?

If you check out the Hurricanes specs online, the distance from lowest part of the propeller to the lowest part of the wing is 3ft 4in (approximately 1 meter).
The Hurricane could behead a 6ft man at the neck and still have its' prop well over 2ft off the ground.

This 47 pilot was buzzing along at propeller level when he saw he was going to strike a surprised German. Waiting for the sickening impact, it never came. Later on, he (& his buddies) calculated that the German made it through the propeller blades.

@soaringstar ...I've been a commercial pilot for 22 years, mostly flying Ag Cats and yes, I've had my lower wings close enough to the ground to kill a dog jumping up at me. I prefer to keep the wings a little farther from the ground but sometimes it happens, especially if a gusty wind appears. It's not often I encounter winds like that since I begin at daylight and the wind is usually calm.

Those were internment camps, there was a VERY LOW mortality rate compared to the concentration and death camps. The people in those camps were expected to be released when the war was over, the people in German camps were expected never to leave them alive.

It says "Spitfire", but the plane most likely this happened with is a Hawker Hurricane. The distance from bottom of prop to bottom of wing is approx. 3'4" on a Hurricane. And on the Spitfire the distance is about 2'8" at the center of plane and 4'4" at wingtips, the distance is different since the wings angle slightly up on the Spitfire.
The Hurricane could behead a 6'0" guy and still have its' prop well over 2 ft off the ground.
Very small margin of error.....but possible.
