Les Pauls are great, the only thing I don't like so much is that their sound isn't too versatile. They play blues, punk, and even jazz great but when you need that smooth sound that a strat delivers it just doesn't work out the same.

@1smitty1212 that's bullshit, the closest tone to a les paul i've ever gotten on a strat, was on my fender strat hss model. cause it has a bridge humbucker. oh and yea, if you know how to play, then you could impress someone even the the shittiest guitar. but to someone with experience, it will sound fucking terrible. alot of my friends have shecters, i fuckin' hate them. their more of a metal and alternative type of guitar. the guitar your playing IS important.

I would make sure you use a picking pattern that's most comfortable for you. Definitely don't do all down-strokes, but you don't necessarily have to do all alternate-picking either. I do alternate through the majority of it and then usually do whatever it is I do (I'm not sure I can explain the pattern exactly!) for the last few chords.
It's a really satisfying riff once you get it, happy strumming!

You did a really great job. I loved it. One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. SO what if you didn't get it perfect, you added your own little touch to it.
This isn't the exact solo that Slash plays on record, but I probably learned/wrote what I did after about 1 1/2 months of playing the song. That was when I had been playing guitar for three years, now I've been playing for about 6. It's not too tough, just nail the bends!

Dude, that was actually awsome. I find it hard to move my hand uo the fret board that quickly and still accurately hit the right frets.
I maybe need to just start off slow and gradually get faster every day.
and btw, i like your interpretation of the solo. nice work.

Pedals are 2 Ibanez TS9 tube screamers modified by analogman.
The amp is actually just a Roland cube 30.
A Morley Bad Horsie 1 wah is used on the solo/end.

I would make sure you use a picking pattern that's most comfortable for you. Definitely don't do all down-strokes, but you don't necessarily have to do all alternate-picking either. I do alternate through the majority of it and then usually do whatever it is I do (I'm not sure I can explain the pattern exactly!) for the last few chords.
It's a really satisfying riff once you get it, happy strumming!

It sounds like your using a tremolo effect during the riff. Some parts of the solo, but the beginning and end didn't mesh perfectly.

This isn't the exact solo that Slash plays on record, but I probably learned/wrote what I did after about 1 1/2 months of playing the song. That was when I had been playing guitar for three years, now I've been playing for about 6. It's not too tough, just nail the bends!
