is that gogol bordelo in the background on that song, i mean i can pretty much tell for myself im just wondering about confirmation about that ya'know
Is he not taller/more american in person then you'd think?
Unless you're american...
lol..I met him in toronto before one of his shows, and he signed my bass for me.
We like had a really brief conversation about venues while he looked my bass over and signed it, lmao, it was a trip. I put my hand out for a handshake, and he put a fist out and said "potato". lmao,
@hailmetal16 same here, i saw him at the palace yesterday and i had him sign a vinyl copy of his album and went to shake his hand and he said potato and fist bumped me i almost died when i got to see him in person
He's my hero, and has been for many years, lmao, and the fact that I told myself I'd get my bass autographed by him one day, and actually succeeded and thensome...wow, unforgettable.
But that potato thing... I'm certain that he just wants to be sure that some psycho doesn't cut his fingers off, or like, break them.
I thought that Primus sounded weird. That is what makes Mr. Claypools songs interesting. They are not your every day rock, or metal. It is fusions of different songs. Les has only became more creative over the years. Always good to branch out and try something radically different.
The great thing about Les Claypool is that, for example, if you were to ask me what any other band sounded like, I would say "Oh, that band sounds kind of like Led Zeppelin, Queen, Rolling Stones, T Rex, Beatles, Metallica, etc."
Primus and Les Claypool are the only bands I can think of where I kind of scratch my head when someone asks what they sound like. "Frank Zappa, maybe."
Thats what I love about it too! I guess u could kinda see some of the residents in them too but ultimatly just to describe one song takes about 6 genres!
@Roxxxxxxxbottttter Primus sounds very similar to The residents. Les even covered 3 different residents songs (hello skinny, Constantinople, Sinister Exaggerator).
Man this is the weirdest fuckin thing I've ever heard, and I thought his work in Primus was weird. Les just gets more and more creative. This shit is insane!!!!
whoa whoa whoa, is that Eugene from Gogol Bordello? Thats insane. Never in million years would the thought of combining funky dark style of les claypool with the gypsy punk of Eugene. This could possibly be the greatest achievement in musical history.
@AJRM18, dude hell yeah it is, that's why i love this song to death, two of the coolest performers on stage combined to make this yodeling craziness, it's bomb :D
some of the words are not Russian (maybe Ukranian, I'm not sure). In Russian part he sings "You bitch!" (in chorus), "You to me, and me to you", "that's goog to read, to lay, Caucasis!"

Les, the bass player with two brains, is awesome to say the least, but Ler is a master of embellishment and I don't think people give him his due.

Has anyone made the connection between the portraits on the cover and les' band?
Because, top left, to right and bottom right look like Les, Balavaldi, and Mike Dillon for sure. I suppose bottom left is the cellist.
