Sgt. Floyd Pepper is a nod to number of British rockers. His name is a reference to The Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band (as is his costume) as well as Pink Floyd (and he is quite literally a "pink Floyd"). He also plays bass left-handed, as did Paul McCartney. As such, it seems that he is modeled after Paul McCartney and Roger Waters (bass-playing and slightly arrogant front man for Pink Floyd).
