This music is a ballad. It has a mixture of low tones on the keyboard along with violin, as well. The combination of held notes and a descending chorus is what causes this ballad to trigger sadness in most of us. Why? Well, now that is a good question. Ascending notes and a a quicker beat, in combination with less use of string instruments (or horn instruments, too) produces a trigger that leaves us feeling more uplifted. I would like to know why, too! :)

I havent seen this movie, but a cousin loves it n he played the many songs of it in a piano, so since i also play piano I immediately liked them all. It's about an East German family and what happens to it before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The father has escaped to West Germany some time ago, the mother is a devoted socialist, and the son Alex initially opposes the system in the GDR.
