  • Love hearing this, excellent job. Thanks

  • *get

  • Awesome....where do you this stuff ? Are you in the music industry or a relative ?

  • Elliot's guitar licks were firmly in place from the get-go!

Love The Cars! They had it, Ben had it from the start!

The rhythm guitar was missing in large parts of this song (doesn't Ric play rhythm?) and backup vocals (sounds like only Elliot was singing backup)-

  • AWESOME !!!

  • THANKS SLANCE. WOW!

  • Just found this one on YouTube. thanks!! great job!

  • excellent! i can almost imagine hearing The Cars Unplugged on MTV!

  • Excellent! Very interesting version!

  • What year was this?

  • Great stuff. Would love to hear the entire gig !

  • WOW great hearing there first song that got them started on BCN! I saw them in Springfield MA in early 80's and my 2 daughters just went to see them Last night in NYC after they got the band back together again! They loved the show! RIP Ben Orr you were the greatest! MISS YA!

  • Interesting how the song sounded early on. Notice how he changes the way he sings in the second verse. lol Love it!!

  • I'm a true Cars fanatic and have been since day 1, you my friend are true to their spirit and a real treasure trove for their early sound. It is indeed amazing to hear these early songs, played so well, albeit with early recording equipment still sound prety much 80 to 90 percent true as how the future studio releases sound to this day. Rock stars come and go but true musicians will always have ability and class. Again, thanks so much!

  • Excellent ,i love the Cars. Thanks Slance1.

  • WOW!

  • awesome!! real treat to listen to. Thanks!!

  • This is good shit!

  • This is awesome man.....I love rare stuff!!!

  • what is this?

  • this is just great.....thanks for posting it,,,

  • Thank you so much for posting this, Slance! And to the people who've said this isn't the The Cars, it clearly is and Ben's voice is unmistakable! It sounds likes Ric Ocasek at the end doing the thanks.

  • I dig where they were coming from in the effort, none of the polish of constant performances but damn they hit that harmony and musically it's pretty plain and up front

  • VERY cool. Thanks.

  • I love this. It's fascinating to hear the evolution of the band. Now, who's doing the talking at the end where they thank the deejay from BCN? Is that Ric or Ben?

  • @caraphyllis That's Ric.

  • Ben has a sexy voice no matter how he sings! Love this! Thanks so much Slance! :) you're my new favorite channel! :)

  • Amazing piece of music history. It's interesting to hear the differences in how Ben sang the song early on. He certainly improved over time and really tightened it up. Elliot's solo is roughly the same.

  • Heh, I had no idea Ben Orr used a faux-german accent early on.

  • it sounds like the song evolved alot from then tell they recorded it..

  • Classic!

  • Thanks for sharing this! I'm a big Benjamin Orr/Cars fan and its wonderful to find such treasures :)

  • This is The Cars. This is what they really sounded like when they first got started. I saw them early on, don't remember when 'cause it was the late 70's -'nuff said there.

  • Love it. Ben sounds so cute here. Interesting to hear how they sounded early on. Seems like they perfected their sound and performances over time and became a tighter sounding group.

  • OMG this is terrible. I don't hate german but jeesh...under gleiben gouten globen. This is just so wrong on so many levels.....

  • where is this from?

  • this is not the old cars but the new cars with todd rundgren, there is a video of this on youtube somewhere.

  • Where on earth did you get the idea that this is Rundgren and the New Cars. It's Orr all the way.

  • Is that really the Cars?! Could they sing like syllabizing?

  • This is amazing to hear! Wow! This is definitely the Cars! Early Cars, yes, but unmistakable.

  • FANTASTIC! Thanks fo sharing. I remember living in Beantown when BCN was playing this frequently. It was A BIG deal & unlike ANYTHING we'd heard before.

  • Hey slance can you post some vidoes of the Beatles 1967 live performance of Sgt Pepper at Shea Stadium ? LOL

  • LOL..if this is the cars, then im the POPE...what a bad cover band this is, doesnt even sound like the cars. The lead singers phony accent is hillarious.

  • Is that Ben O on lead vocal?

  • Yep!

  • Slance-u r a true wizard!!! Thanks for being a generous one!!! You've got connections somewhere-WHERE?!?! Keep em coming!!!!

  • Thanks, new videos will be uploaded soon!
