@hitachi088 Not true about the power supply. I replaced the supply with a COMMON SFF power supply...no issues during boot up. I bet YOUR replacement PS is garbage. For the money, these are probably the best enterprise-grade PCs ever made. (Mine runs OS X 10.5.6 and EVERYTHING works.)

Hi, I know what your problem is.

Try this first and if that doesn't work I'll upload my oem windows xp disc to you for free.

1,Start,RUN MSCONFIG.

Look at services and start programs and turn off windows messenger and any others that are running that YOU don't want running.

2.If the problem still persists talk to me via through PM and I'll give you a copy of my xp sp2 cd through email, only if you have a your xp key for your HP.

Mallumom Talk to me as well about getting xp.

these pcs can only take what they got when it comes to cpus i tried a pentium d in mine it didnt work...i think you can put 2 gigs of DDR ram....if you have an IDE hard drive you can upgrade to an 80 gig....but if its a sata you can go as high as u want....ex 750 gig.....psu is impossible to upgrade...motherboard impossible....(almost) u can add a dvd drive into it if you want...i did it....it was a pretty quick machine when i had it....but now i got my gaming rig :)

it is impossible, you might be able to update its sound card because it has 3 extra slots.

I upgraded the power supply because it blew on me twice. so I went and purchased a Antec 350 watt "works fine" like I said 3 hard drives and a CD-RW and also a USB DVD-RW.

2.8 GHZ def fast and its holding up really good.

that is impossible to install a video card on the motherboard. no where to put it. I upgraded the cpu cooler as well, it was not the right size so I superglued it tot the chip as well as the fan. works fine..

not all of them suffer from this issue, allot have been serviced and the faulty PSUs have been replaced in some, of course a few will slip by in not getting fixed.

but that issue can be solved by buying a case and buy a PSU, i put mine in a ANTEC 300 case and bought a ANTEC 500w PSU and all it well, for a older computer its fast

its a known issue with them, more then likely the ones you service or referb have the replacement PSU in them (mainly cause many had the faulty PSUs replaced), if you go to the HP forums and search around you will see.
