I'll never understand how such a mellow number ends on one of the creepiest notes of all time. Seriously - sustain that synth note and you have the soundtrack to a movie scene where it's dark, in the woods, and the family of campers sense something evil is impending......and......well.........sure enough - they're descended upon by flesh-eating zombie werewolves.
i met gary on tuesday last and he was really rude to me. i have posted what happened on you-tube site "un human rights australian hrc"...just read my comments.
Thanks bagwoli.Yeah,I think back to then when my dad was younger than I am now.He is in the nursing home with dementia and it is ALWAYS the music that unlocks the memories.I wonder who will remember me as I have no kids.It is super that my nephews grew up listening to the old stuff and really embrace it.I think of how music fits certain moments.I only want to hear Stairway to Heaven when I am driving down a dark and lonesome road.Same with Hotel California.Teach your son well..
My mom always said she was gonna die when she was 40 years old.She was 36 and I was 11 when this song came out.She was very sick and had an operation at the time.I can remember riding home from the hospital(hearing this song on the radio) in the back seat of the car and crying in the dark. This song will always remind me of how I love my mother. She didn't die at 40.And I have her to love still to this day.God bless the seventies.
@freak65candy God bless you and your Mother. There's nothing like some old 70's tunes to dig up such strong memories - I am reliving grade school through my son as I started listening to these songs again - I can see myself in each grade that he is in. I can't remember much, but music unlocks my memory and I am thankful for that. Again, God bless you and your Mom
@freak65candy I'm so glad your mother didn't die at 40, and that she is still with us today. I know, music touches us ALL (only those whom allow it). It can be, and I believe it is, a breathing, living thing.
@freak65candy Interesting, I recall being 8, and my mom dying of cancer at age 37. This song was played frequently on the bus ride home...amazing how aural memories can be.
It always amazes me when internet trolls luck onto songs like these & break out with their lack of talent comments. This song came from a period before most of you trolls were born & it means nothing to you except to show your ignorance by your comments. It means something to us who were there when the song first came out & it remains in our memories. In twenty years or so you will be typing this same message to the trolls that will follow you as they lay their s**t on your favourite memories...

@saclrpfrl10 ---God Bless you! You brought tears to my wife and I! We are the same age, same story, but a blue Torino and no funeral yet for us, just one of our children:(
First time I heard this song was 1974..in Alaska...I was in a Strip Joint..the girl Dancing was Fantastic..Still think of her every time I hear this..Like to know where she is now
ahhhh, this song is so awesome. Nothing beats kicking back with a pair of high quality headphones, listening to this song and forgetting about my troubles.
One of the most under credited musicians of the 70's, Gary Wright was an incredible vocalist. Even into the 2000's, later in life, Gary sustained his one of a kind mellow smooth voice and can still sing incredibly well. This is one of the best live versions of Dream Weaver Gary ever did and had great backing singers with him with their all out deep soul scratchy voices. Incredible.....
@mjw9363 Ok I stand corrected..I read that mis-information somewhere once..Gary Wright did in fact write Dreamweaver and Foster only played on the album..Happy now Dickhead?
@smasherhits never happy about know it all's who post incorrect information for the world to see instead of doing a quick check to at least make sure they're right...you know??..people like you
I dig the clairol twins matching PJ's. Probably got them at the hilton gift shop or maybe when they were touring in Budakhan. The next year George lucas picked up on the trend. What great years those were. Our countries gone from champagne to horse piss in thirty years. I blame it on ALL politicians.
FYI: Wright's inspiration for this song was(via the Beatle's George Harrison) the Indian spritualist Paramahansa Yogananda: ...."When my mind weaves dreams with threads of memories, then on that magic cloth will I emboss: God!, God!, God!".
that 70s show brought me here but i knew this song way before i heard it on that show and im only 21 i grew up listening to him leo sayers(from my mom) cats n the cradle all dat n im only 21 how cool is dat XD(but i hate rap n country well i love charlie daniels band and dolly parton but dats it of country)

This is from late winter/early spring of 1976, I was about to graduate from 4 long years of highschool in Niagara Falls NY. What a great time of optimism, energy, confidence and anticipation. As difficult as those years had been , I was surprised at how sad I felt when graduation came, and our class of 76 was disbanded. Our class colors were red, white and blue. Now, the kids are in the 4 corners of the country, I wonder if they ever hear this music and think back to those days,.
Whatever happened to him? It's like he had the one good year, 1976, and then he disappeared. Would someone put out an APB on Mr. Wright for me? I'd really appreciate it.

this takes me back to the innocent years of my youth, 11yrs old at the school dance with my little sweetheart...Connie. hmmm I wonder where she is now.
