water changes are not beneficial, but detrimental.

just think.

an aquarium needs to be as stable as possible, if your water is stable, and doesn';t have excess nutrient levels, why bother disturbing that.

if your nutrients are high( higher than undetectable) you need better filtration, or to feed less.

Im going to defend this guy for a second... Fresh and saltwater tank maintenance is very similar. that being said depending on your bio load you might be able to get away with a monthly waterchange. now for whats wrong... he keeps showing that copperbanded butterfly. and if you look closely at it youll notice that it has lymphcitis (spelling) and a fungal infection.

how bout the water chemistry testing, the replacement of corals, scrubbing of glass, thinning of algaes in the refugium (if you know what a refugium is).... seems like you didnt put much thought into the instructional video at all..

Please no one go and setup a saltwater tank because of this guys review. Saltwater tanks are much more complicated than he is stating. They are easy once you research and learn everything you need to know, but it's no where near as simple as Water changes. He is forgetting to mention Live rock, live sand, lighting requirements, and consistantly checking water parameters.

This is wrong. There is much more to maintaining a saltwater aquarium than just monthly water changes. In fact the whole video is all wrong, marine fishes are no more sensitive to water quality than freshwater fishes. Marine invertebrates and corals on the other hand are sensetive. There is just too much to it to go into detail here, but i can recommend the book: "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert M. Fenner which tells you what you need to know on setup and maintenance and much more.
