  • look into tannerite. gives u instant feedback if you hit your target. especially at those ranges.

  • GREAT...... I can already see more wounded elk, deer, bear......hobbling around on 3 leg's.

  • @mrsmelzbad You have it all wrong. The idea is to have the Taliban hobbling around on 1 leg..... These guys were merely testing the possibility of scoring a hit at such an extreme range. I didn't hear them mention anything about sport hunting at all. Considering the wind, the earth's rotation and the 5.5 second time of flight I thought they did very well.

  • @MultiGuntoter They did awsome & Id love one such rifle. Just being sarcastic, seems every "gunrag" author, encourages YOU MUST HAVE a long range rifle that can shoot 2000 yards.... when 90% of all hunters in USA cant tell 250 yards from 1500 yds. I witnessed this working as a hunting guide. For that matter ive seen excited "dudes" miss elk / moose at 75 yrds. papers targets & in field shooting are 2 diff things.....just saying. death to taliban ! ALOHA SNACK-BAR!

  • lol, im sure if you reload fast enoght you can shoot again before the bullet even hit^^

  • That's why you are taking a kick at 2707 yards. Very nice. From Wiki:

British Army CoH Craig Harrison of the Household Cavalry successfully engaged two Taliban machine gunners south of Musa Qala in Helmand Province in Afghanistan in November 2009 at a range of 2,475 m (2,707 yd), using a L115A3 Long Range Rifle rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. These are the longest recorded and confirmed sniper kills in history

  • Sound blustery, what wind hold or windage did you have put in. Good job. Love the super long flight time.

  • So...it looks like it would be FULLY 100% EFFECTIVE at missing a man sized target at 2700 yards.

  • @GetMeThere1 This is World record territory, I suspect you have no clue what's involved

  • @hifly78 : The clue I have is the title of the video, which states it's "effective." It's not. Let's be real.

  • @GetMeThere1 you're probably one to say a .22lr isn't effective at 400 yards as well.

  • @hilers72652 somewhere he has a point

no, its impresive, but the title is technicaly nothing more then false advertising

  • Kick ass editing job. Ill assume you are all active/veteran military.

  • Great work, you might not of actually struck the target, but the scare-factor and impacts would be buttoning it down in real life.

  • That is almost a quarter of a mile

  • @VicariousReality7

Might want to recalculate that! Because 2700 yards is 1.534 miles! Lol

  • @ShawnScaggs

Nope, 2707 yards is 0,2475 miles here

    lol

  • @VicariousReality7 Seriously dude? 1760 yards are in 1 mile. 2707 yards is about 1.53 miles. Have you not been through elementary school yet?

  • @TNStories

    Just trollin ya

A mil is 10 Km here in sweden

  • @VicariousReality7 Which is practically MOA at 2707 yards :)

  • @MushroomPictures I did the maths and it would be about 312 metres a second just before impact (I'm Australian so I use metres but I am sure you can work that out in yard or feet or whatever you want)

  • God how much i want that round. But no land where im at over 500 meters complete bullshit.

  • you guys did great. I think being able to hit a average sized man at 2700 yards takes the same amount of luck as it does skill.

  • How is the range calculated?

  • wtf thats ausome

  • Excellent shooting. Imagine the stress the sniper was under. I guess the added stress of defending your comrades elevates ones concetration and determination level.

  • great shooting, i would love to be able to own one down the road but as it stands 5 bucks a shot is a lot of money.

  • @TheDeag1e So learn how to reload ammo... Its not that hard really. Just takes some patience and the ability to learn and ask questions and you will save a ton of money in the long run compared to buying box after box of factory "less accurate" ammo.

  • @TheDeag1e ......dirtyharry2029 is right. Though the start up can get expensive, it pays off in the long run. If you load your own .338, you can be under $1.50 a rnd. Plus the benefit of getting the load that works best for you and that's just like the visa "Priceless" commercials...

  • outstanding! I know how frustrating it is to be sooo close to on-target, but still missing. great shooting, never mind the wind. Bravo Zulu

  • strong wind

  • that's amazing!

  • very nice shooting, i wish i could shoot half that distance.

  • Boy, you guys shoot good !

  • @stinkypedrosanchez... have you ever tried to hit a target past 2000 yards?

  • when theres lead in the air theres hope

  • nice work

  • Sounds like you guys had to deal with some wind too, good shooting.

  • Silly question, but what´s effective about that?!?

doesn´t look like 80% first hit prob. to me... not even 80% with ajusting... that title is a 100% fuck up, but ok

  • @APedroSanchez can you shoot that far? First shot on TARGET, with NO sighting in at that range? and FYI the current world record combat sniper kill...took 9 ranging shots to get on target, and the previous record too 2 ranging shots to get on his target (third being the kill). According to your 'math' both those records were only 25% and 33% effective. At that kind of range...even the WEATHER can be different. And there's NO compensating for that, til you get a shot down there.

  • @MrRocque

I can´t even shoot my foot, but I do it very effective.

Just wanted to point out, that there is a difference between maximum range & effective range. As far as I´m concerned, effective range is 80% first hit prob, maximum range how far the bullet can fly.

The effective range of a .338 Lapua Magnum is 1500m/1,640 yd, at least according to the producer... lapua.com upload/downloads/brochures/2011/lapuaspecialpurpose2011eng.pdf

  • @APedroSanchez I've seen the specs. thing about manufacturers, they HAVE to prove they're claims. As far as 'effective', Rob Furlong (previous record holder) was 'effective' to 1500 m, until he got ahold of some U.S. .50 cal. rounds, then he got a lot more effective REALLY fast. Effective depends on the EFFECT one wishes to cause. These rounds are essentially 'HARD' target rounds...at 1500m. a foot either way on a car...don't matter. On a man sized target, then its a hit or a miss

  • @MrRocque

they just didn´t hit target. Period

  • @APedroSanchez granted, they didn't hit the target. In addition, the SRS is only claimed to be effective to 1900m. Maybe the 'error' isn't the round, but the rifle. 2.06 moa AT >2700 yds = ~52 inch grouping. Being stuck on 'hit the target' 4 out of 5 times, at that distance, is unrealistic. That's 1.54 MILES (2.48Km). And again, effectiveness doesn't mean an 80% hit ratio, All though that would be great, its beyond the capability of ANY physics/ammunition.

  • @MrRocque that is all wind

  • @APedroSanchez must admit, i like the vid and what they did or tried to do in this vid

but indeed, its perfectly understandable if people whoud dislike this vid more then they woud like it because in theory, this is spam

but for the rest, you shoud read the description and relize youre talking a bit crap to

  • @13thmistral

Ok, if that makes you feel better, I´m talking crap.

And I really have to admit that for a ground target, I would prefer the .338 over the mistral

  • @APedroSanchez a bit i said

they are not claiming for 100% there gun(srs .338lm) have 2707 yards as an efective range

though followed by there site a pretty grat range for a .338lm exualy

in anny case, you talked a bit crap, deal with it and dont act so silly pathetic petty

  • @13thmistral

    proof me wrong

  • @APedroSanchez the range on their website is not stated to be 2707 yards

    but 1900 yards

yep, like i said, the videotitle is spam, but they dont claim this to be the efective range

i realy dont think you get me or youre just trolling

  • @13thmistral

I never commented their website, just the video and stated, that according to Lapua, the effective range of the .338 Lapua Mag ist 1500m/1640yards... let´s just agree that we don´t get eachother

  • @APedroSanchez ah, so

sorry i thought because they posted this shit you directly asumed they claimed this range to be accurate on there rifle general

about that last, coud be, never exualy searched about it, though i notice most .338lm rifles claim to have that range

    yea, i agree

sorry for bothering, i judged you wrong completely

  • @APedroSanchez effective range is more or less calculated by bullet velocity, drop, and few other things to more or less get a range at which you can get consistent hits with in a foot a variation at a certain distance. but if you look at maximum range for a standard 338 lapua, its in the realm of 4200 yards. and even at that range it still has enough power behind it to penetrate human flesh.

  • The difference in volume of the shot between the first and second shooter is impresive (same rifle). The noise suppressor of shooter n°1 seems very effective. does anyone know how it affects long distance accuracy? or may be it doesn't?

  • amazing accuracy

  • What is the name of the range finder used in this vid?

  • It's good to see a few YouTube videos where live animals aren't shot for target-practice under the guise of "hunting."

  • Great Video Guys!

Any chance to find out what loads you were using for that set up? Were you using a hand load or factory Swiss or Lapua?

We are seeing good flight and wind fighting with hand load 300's and the Lapua Factory 250 scenars get out there too?

Without the bull pup design we are using a 29" barrel w/ 1:9.35 to get 3 full twists, just wondered how your set ups would compare if you feel like sharing?

thanks for the long range vids, folks need to see these reach out there!

    DVC

  • what kind of spotting scope is that with a built in laser range finder?

  • Excellent, just listen to the wind, flight time near 5 sec. WOW great system.

  • What was the gun?

  • @Jyrki1964 kinda easy to find the answer on youre question :/

  • @13thmistral

    AI?

  • @Jyrki1964 i give you a hint little stupid kiddo:

'if you watch the vid again then the answer is right under youre nose'

when you find youre answer, please always check such places before commenting on vids, you coud spare some time with it :)

  • @13thmistral

No i mean't what was the gun of that british sniper.

  • @Jyrki1964 o on that way

well it was an accuracy international arctic warfare super magnum (AI AWSM) variant

designated in the british army as the L115A3

  • Fantastic footage, please show the rifle and scope in detail

  • Lose the music please.

  • what range finder are you using?

  • what an idiot iam

iam searching for accuracy comparisations with other comparable guns everywhere on the internet out of interest , yet i dont notice them when they are laying right under my nose

now i read the description :/

so this this is as accurate as an verry modern ai awsm variant ?

    holly crap

  • With a little less wind you would have had it no problem

  • Anything over a mile is precision.

  • @SVTfocusftw7 -_-

  • @SVTfocusftw7 ... more like luck due to all the variables.

  • thats just extreme

  • immaculant

  • @triggerfingas That is not a word, and the three people that agree with you, do not know that is a word as well. Congratulations guys!

  • @hac198582 :-o from his dead hand?!

  • what range finder is that?

  • @VortexOperator never mind

  • @VortexOperator Reticle looks like a Vectronix plrf series. They are an exceptional rangefinder.

  • It's worth noting that Craig Harrison's shots were taken in Afghanistan, at around 10,000ft of altitude and in perfectly still air. If you guys had enjoyed the same conditions then there's no doubt in my mind you would have hit with at least three of your first five shots. Beautiful shooting guys.

  • me too... cookie?

  • one day i will own this rifle, thats a promise to myself.

  • Damn, and it's windy too.

  • Nice shooting..... that is impressive for that kind of distance.

  • great video, crazy how long flight time of bullet is at that distance.
