@kotabuuki maybe you could use the 'blood knot' ( you can see it in TIAT's video about a 'lizard tail sinnet') to make a loop in the beginning, and then tie a knot in the end which you can pull through the loop. TIAT used this technicue (don't know the right spelling) of fastening bracelets more often
Its a double overhand knot - the knot most use to tie off their shoe laces when they don't want them to come undone. Its probably the most basic of all knots. Thus you likely already know how to tie it. Check the web, you'll see. *smile*
I love your videos! I want to buy your book. I like to wear my rope panties around the house. I have problems with my junk falling out though. Ha ha i kidding. Or am i?
OK so just asking the obvious, and im pretty a couple other people are thinking it, but can this knot/braiding be used to make a actual functioning ladder? With thicker rope of course
The short answer is yes. What i showed you is the same method used to create a rope ladder. Only make the rungs farther apart and decide whether or not to use two colors of rope (not need for a regular rope ladder, but necessary for a totally cool rope ladder).
I meant to add that I really appreciate how clear and well-done your videos are. I really appreciate the little pause you give after a step, so I can see what you've just done. I find that REALLY helpful.
And I generally like the music too. It's a great combination. Many thanks!
hey, i love your videos, they are really cool and interesting, but if i may suggest something, you should put the length of how long the peices of cord you used were, because i find myself many times, cutting down peices or cutting new peices because i cant see how long to make them. just trying to give some constructive critisism(cant spell) love your vids man! keep 'em commin!
JD, I think I've watched and tied 99 of the 100, haven't done this one yet ;) One thing that I continue to have trouble with though... I simply cannot get my ropes (any of them) to do the FLASH and then the TA DA! all tight. its all good though, I'll continue manually tightening them as it reminds me of your gawd like stature in the world of knots.
Thanks for your dedication and I look forward to the new knot book.
its got to be painful to make these videos, because you at this point know all of them by heart jest about and you can follow them so well but you have to slow down for us n00bs
@HrafnNordhri i love his videos, i was more so ... admiring his skill, i can keep up for the first knot by looks but then when it gets about... 30 seconds in i have to stop skipping ahead in which its perfect
First, 450 paracord has a wider variety of colors to chose from. Second, I like the way the cord lies. 550 is bulkier than 450 and a lot of the ties that look good with 450, don't look as clean with 550. That said, everything I tie can be tied with any cord you choose/prefer to use. All other things equal, cord choice is a question of personal preference.
Congrats on 100--you and your production are the best I've seen on this subject. I've seen some that, after a "move", I would say to myself, "what did he/she just do?" Yours are very easy to follow. Thanks! And to thenrylee--all the vids I've seen, the music is credited. Maybe you aren't watching till the end.
Congrats on your 100th video. Your production quality is some of the best on the web. I just recently found you ( 2 weeks ago??) and have gotten extreme enjoyment from watching and trying to learn. Two suggestions if I may: 1) If you could credit the music, I find it soothing and might be interested in purchasing the CD. 2) It would really help a novice like me to know how many feet makes how many inches so I know how much to cut. You did say 5', but I don't think you gave the ending length.
Very creative--have not seen this design anywhere. Would love to make a bracelet out of it, but would need to know how to either connect the ends or how to weave a two chorded bracelet thru a side release buckle. Makes it a lot more complicated.
I have problems tying knots using standard paracord. It is just too slick. I have yet to figure out how you make yours stay in place during the ties--mine wanders all over the place and has to be cinched up often because it is so slick it keeps sliding out of place constantly during the tying process.
I used to make these out of rope and climb out of windows...

how do you make this with a side release buckle?

i asume you can increase the width off the rungs by simply winding the cord more times around the rung?

Isn't this the same as, or at least similar to, a candy stripe bar?

@zandermanandcassymom - except for the colors used to demonstrate the ties, the two are completely different.

So if I want to make a small ladder like that but I want the finished length to be about 30 inches,How many feet of cord should I start with?

My wife made his knot after watching and she was wondering how you would either end it or start it to make a bracelet.

I forgot to ask earlier--you seem to have a preference for 450 over 550. Is that because it is a little "tighter" wind and somewhat smaller?
