The problem here is that the skipper of the boat was very unprofessional. He allowed these silly brats to torment this fish. The shark should have been drug behind the boat tail first or dispatched with a .22 to the head or a billy club. Playing with your catch is not too cool. Generally they are not agressive, the cases where they have killed humans have usually been down to human error and misunderstanding so "kill or be killed" is not a reason. They are close to becoming endangered so fishing them is wrong, even if it's not illegal it is immoral. I have eaten shark, and it is by far the most delicious, moist, tender, and flaky fish meat I've ever had. I love it in fish tacos.

Only the novice fisherman have to kill larger catch likes sharks if they're not going to eat it (makes them feel good to take them back to the dock, show off with it, and take pictures)... and even then so, shark is just ok to eat, depending on the species, so it's not worth killing them for meat, unless it's a Mako (the meat taste and texture is very close to Swordfish). The Tuna and Kingfish they caught were well enough meat to take home to eat. It was unnecessary to kill that little shark.
