I disagree with the new book published called the Shack written by William Young. He portrays God the Father as a big African American Woman. What is your opinion on this book?

I don't think that anybody can truly predict what God looks like. Going by the Bible, the best we can say is that he is a man. Women in the Bible were not talked about, or were considered important AT THAT TIME. Also, last time I checked, "Father" was a male. I doubt things would have changed that drastically. But there is no reason somebody should even think about labeling God as a certain race in the first place. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

I have read that that book, too. I also think it's hard to wrap my mind aroung God being a large African American. But the book also explains that it's all about limitations. I think God can come to someone in any way he wants to that will get them to come back to him. But I do agree that the book is Biblically incorrect, but it's more about the bigger picture. I would still recommend this book to someone suffering from a loss that has fallen away from God.

bgunner, I don't know of your walk in God however it's important not to confuse 'using the Lords name in vain' with being blasphemous of the holy spirit.

Don't worry, I had the same confusion too before I found the truth. As long as you don't profess that the holy spirit is evil, I think you'll be okay. :)

Doesn't God draw a line too? He doesn't forgive everything. Like, falling away(hebrews 6) and sinning against the holy spirit(mark or luke). It's really frustrating that christians just talk about Gods love, and yes, that's extremely important. But, we seem to care more about those that are LOST than each other.
