Hey, I've notice recently they started putting that little sort of fence between the hiway, I stay in Texas and I go thru I-10 a lot and they put it not too long ago, maybe a couple of years at the most... whats the purpose of it?? I think is for some but not sure... is not that tall!
It's to keep vehicles that lose control & go into the median from going into oncoming traffic from the opposite direction on the other side. If they hit the fence the vehicle is more likely to bounce upward flip & land upsidedown. I saw a pickup that ended upsidedown like that in West Texas on I-20. If they happen to bounce back into traffic it's less fatal if the traffic is going in the same direction. Plus, people moving along with the vehicles see the disaster unfold & likely have time to...
Thanks for tellin me that Doug. At first, I didn't know if the peaceful music would be received well because so many people put hard jams on their videos. But I tend to do things different anyway, so I went with my gut. The "out in the middle of nowhere" scenery evokes a sense of peace in me, so that's why I use the peaceful music. I wanted to convey that sense of "peacefulness" to others. It's good to know that people "get it".
They had an overhead sign in Laramie that read, "55 mph winds, light trailers not advised". The next day when I drove back they had the same advisory. When I got to I-25 in Cheyenne I was unable to go south due to it being shutdown to remove a light trailer that had gotten blown over & was blocking both lanes. I had an empty trailer, but the wind was to my back on I-80 helping my fuel mileage, so I took I-80 on into Nebraska & took US-385 south instead. Denver rush hour traffic sucks anyway.
You don't really want to drive across Wyoming in the winter. It gets pretty dangerous up there. Makes for good video tho, as you'll see in the next vid.
They had 55+ mph winds when I was driving across there. You don't notice it so much in this video, but in the one following this one where I drive back across you can see it. The weather in the next video gets nasty. I don't use much music on the next vid because most of it stands on it's on.
Thanks. I did that on purpose. At first I was going to shoot above the hood to get it out of the picture, but then I thought, "how are ya suppose to know the view is from a truck if ya can't see the hood?" Glad my instincts were right & thanks for letting me know. I just bought a small tripod Saturday that sets on the dash, but I'll be sure to keep the hood in view. I gotta use my backlog of footage up first before tripod footage gets posted. I also ordered a new widescreen HD Flip Mino cam.
I love your vids, they take me back to a different time in my life. I had a love/hate realtionship with the road. I don't think I have to explain that to anyone here though.
enjoyed the video. excellent choice of music. it went well
with the landscape.

Last time I drove through Wyoming I was right behind an 18 wheeler who hit 6 antelope.... what a mess...
PappyStu 3 years ago
I can imagine. Good Lord there's enough damage when you hit just one!

another nice video. spent a few winters there hauling aluminum pop cans in doubles getting blown all over the place.

You're a REAL professional if you can drive one of those wiggle wagons across that mess. I'll pass.

...react, whereas people traveling in the opposite direction will likely be caught unawares with no chance to avoid a collision.

them roads are long and flat..unlike the roads around here..nice ride..

Yeah I'm kind of partial to flat roads. They usually equal easy money & good fuel mileage. An occasional mountain is okay to break the monotony.

nice landscape ,nice miss on the gator rubber, 1.17, thanks for the ride,

Thanks karl. Always a relief when ya gotta dodge a gator & there isn't a 4-wheeler playing shadow.
