Try PetStarlings On Yahoo 4 help

    Namaste!

  • How adorable they both are. Lucky they had you to help them out.

  • What are you feeding them? Because I recently found 5 baby birds, and feeding them quite often but it looks like your birds really enjoy what your feeding them :3

  • @PEK677 It's a blended mix of water-softened dog food, hard boiled egg (including shell for calcium), and apple juice. I found the exact "recipe" online somewhere but that was a few years ago. They did well on it though.

  • @mozimomma

Do you think cat food would do?

  • @hopesvids1 yes

  • @mozimomma

    Ok thanks so much :)

  • @mozimomma

How long did they live on it??

  • @hopesvids1 Until they were just about feathered out, then I taught them how to catch bugs. Started with store-bought crickets and mealworms, then moved on to outdoor insects as they learned to catch them for themselves.

  • @Mizshugababy feed it canned dog or cat food or soak cat or dog food in water till its all soggy then mix it and feed it!

  • my dog attacked a bird nest and sadly killed a baby bird but there was another one that survived..hes very small i have it in an aquarium with his nest and leaves an such to make it comfortable BUT i have NO IDEA what to feed it!!! its so small:/ i dont want it to die so PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • LOOL

  • mommy i want more. no, i want more!

  • i found a baby bird and am feeding the it every hour or so. how can you tell what kind of bird it is. im thinking that it is a 'starling' because of the beak and the feathers.. the bird i found has a wide yellow beak with it looks like blue feathers.

do you know what kind of bird it might be?

  • @MMBG398 Sorry, can't help there, too little info. If it has most of its feathers you should probably put it back where you found it....it's likely a fledgling and the parents are still feeding it....even if it "seems" to be 'abandonned'. Good luck!

  • aw u are a good kind hearted person

  • what did you feed them, i smashed up worms in warm water and fed mines that

  • nom nom nom nom

  • that is nice

  • boy can they eat. what do you feed them?

  • uao straordinarios to video

  • Get that dried turtle food with the insects and soak it good....also really wet soupy dog food would work as well.

  • What were you feeding it?

  • aww u r such a good person giving them fair amounts

  • i found a baby starling that looks exactly like that. it fell out of the nest too and was near a highway so i was afraid a car might hit it. ive been feeding it baby bird formula with a syringe. ive been feeding it every 2 hours. is every 2 hours good enough? or should i feed him more frequently?

  • @Tiger2819 If it doesn't yet have feathers that's probably fine. Once it's eating regularly (and not too much at one time), you can start spacing the feedings out.

  • @Tiger2819

Nestlings (no feathers, or slight down feathers) should be every 30 min.

if they have fluff, then maybe every hour.

if they have lots of feathers (flight feathers growing in), then every 2 hrs.

I guess with starlings its okay to do it yourself (since they're invasive and it doesnt really matter if they're releasable), but if you find any other songbird that's a native species please do give it to a wildlife rehabilitation center where they can do it better and release them.

  • Too bad you chose to raise such a destructive pest as starlings - a non-native that kills and displaces our already beleaguered native birds, in addition to gathering in absolutely huge flocks that wreak havoc on local ecosystems and leave behind putrid masses of filth...

The lemur videos are endearing, anyway!

  • @redwooddancer well they starlings are very social so no wonder they form flocks and travel each other and tell me bird that dont leave filth :p

  • wat r u feeding them if i find a bird tht fell i feed it wetbread

  • keep on saving them in future,GOD BLESS YOU FOR DOING THIS!!! I LOVE BIRDS THIS MUCH!!

  • there so cute

  • you give them too much

  • hey, may i know what you feed them with? My father just found a small bird at the back yard. Please help me by replying! Thanks so much.

  • It depends on the kind of bird and how old it is.... these were starlings fed with a mix of softened dry dog food, hard-boiled egg (with shell), and apple juice/sauce, all blended together.

  • @mozimomma I have just rescued a Thai Finch, and it still has a bit of down on its face, but its all feathers besides, just cant fly yet. i have tried feeding it rice, but it hasnt had food since early afternoon as far as I can tell... I put him in a box with some rice and water in a bottlecap, what else can I do? I dont think the parents will take it back ... any advice?

  • If you put it out near where you found it, the parents will likely reclaim it at that age and continue to care for it until it can fly.

Sorry, I don't know anything about these birds or what their natural diet is.

  • @mozimomma actually if you touch a bird the parents won't come back cuz it has you smell which is weird so the parents will think its not theres

  • @TheSoujaboy243 That's actually not true, and you can replace fallen babies back into their nest and the parents will still care for them.

  • That's just a myth. Birds have very bad senses of smell.

  • @TheSoujaboy243 The parents come back. I replaced some baby cardinals that fell out of their nest. The parents continued to care for the babies but haven't roosted in that tree again.

  • @TheSoujaboy243 this is actually true at all, i t is an old wives tale to stop kids from mucking around with the babies. Birds have a poor developed sense of smell and won't be able to tell.

  • @TheSoujaboy243 No that is not true, birds do not have an excellent sense of smell so they would not know.

  • @TheSoujaboy243 Thats a myth. Its not true. if you touch a bird a mom will go back to it.

  • @mozimomma actually if you touch a bird the parents won't come back cuz it has you smell which is weird so the parents will think its not theirs

  • @mozimomma actually if you touch a bird the parents won't come back cuz it has you smell which is weird so the parents will think its not theirs.

  • @mozimomma and the parents will not come back if they smell your sent.

  • @Rahavin1 DO NOT feed it rice! rice is bad for birds and can make their stomaches explode.

  • @Rahavin1

Rice is probably too solid for a baby bird. If you go to a pet store you can sometimes find Exact: Hand feeding formula to feed baby birds.

  • @Ilbrethladwen I'm not sure, but isn't that for parrots? If so, it's a completely different formula than what one would feed a wild N.American bird.

  • I have 4 baby birds and the bird place in norfolk told me to keep them but not sure what to feed them with any ideas plz let me know thanks.X

  • It depends on their age and what kind they are. ??

  • I use the black plastic coffee stirrers from McDonalds to feed my baby birds. Using a dropper or syringe if to chancey.

  • damn you got sum jacked up hands/very cute birds good luck with them

  • I's legal to own nondomestic birds like starlings and house sparrows. It's onl ilegal to "house" native species because it equires peci licenses to care for native wildlife. Tis is because native species are a part of the nativeecosystem andare legally protected in that sense. These little gus are not only unprotected, but generally disiked.

  • hungry hungry birdies

  • I remember the episode of Bevis and Butthead where they cared for a baby bird...Bevis chewed up worms and spit them in the baby birds mouth! ^_^

  • These things can EAT.

I found one apparently near death on the side of my house. Really busted looking, some blood on it, and I was sure it was a goner. But 4 days later and he's pretty healthy looking. Looks defective though, his wing doesn't set right, and he's got large lumps on his right breast/shoulder and to the side of the neck. Maybe tumors, maybe from a fall.

Hope he makes it, but I don't think it's going to be able to make it outdoors.

  • HAHA SLOVENČAD

  • very nice... love them <3

  • what kind of birds are those ?

  • Starlings.

  • what are yhuu feeding them?!? x

  • It's a mix of water soaked dry dog food (cat food is better), apple juice, and ground hardboiled egg, shells included.

  • Lovely that you helped these little birds!

  • incredible

  • you know it is illegaL TO KEEP BABY BIRDS AS PETS.

  • They aren't pets.

  • Starlings are not native birds and considered pest birds in many areas. I believe it's probably legal to keep them as pets.

  • I'm not sure of the legalities regarding 'pet' starlings but you are entirely correct.....they aren't actually native to N. America. If I was an ecologist it likely would have been better if I 'had' kept them...;)....two less to breed more.;)

  • aww so cute

  • i had those things before , we had to feed it with our hand , we fed it rice and pepper. it gobbled down everything. i hated it so much. it was bony and ugly.

  • What is WRONG with you?????????????????

  • ask me whats wrong with that stupid bird i had.

  • Aw, you poor thing; were you an ugly baby too?? Too bad someone fed you!!

  • stfu , i was a sexy baby. everyone wants to feed me. lmfao.

  • well done! how cute. I sadly killed 2 sparrows because I didn't know the food formula, Can someone please tell me how to make one?

  • Part 1. Yesterday during a heat scorcher I found a little baby starling faintly crying on the searing asphalt. I think that poor thing was cooking under the unforgiving midday sun. I placed him under a tree close by and I hid behind some bushes hoping that mother would come to feed the creature. I waited for about half hour and nobody came. I couldn't leave him like that so I took the baby bird to my office; place him in a cardboard box lined with tissue paper and off I went to a pet store.

  • what happened at the pet store? =(

  • i have babies in a nest in my front yard their mom is really protective whenever i go to look at the she gets pissed and starts chirping her head off and the dad dive bombs me one time he hit me on the head when i was taking a little peek T_T

  • i know u just want to see, but plz dont do that..your scarying the poor family..they think you want to hurt them...if u really want to see..watch you tube clips..theey r really cool...for example just imagain while your in your house with your family a big beast looks in side, wont you be scared..? {i'm not calling u a beast but compare to there size we all look like beast to them..lol

  • U lie its only the mother which provides for the starlings its a rare chance the father being there.

  • plz help me... on my window seal there is a nest with 5 baby robins...what should i feed them the mommmy bird has not been around for the last 2 days...i have been giving them soft bread...the birds r very smalll ,, there only skin right now... plz help

  • She's probably around, you just don't see her; they wouldn't live two days at this stage without her. I'd suggest just leaving them; the bread isn't good for them.

  • Earthworms. Robins dig earthworms.

  • How sweet- found 4 baby starlings that had fallen out of a collapsed nest in a barn yesterday- all of them are now eating cat food from my finger and are quite happily taking water from a tiny syringe, they are here with me now in a nest made from a flower basket and shredded paper. When they heard the babies on the computer they went crazy. These are the first lot of adopted birds this year. Last year i had a sparrow called Dennis...

  • i have 5 baby robin , what should i feed them and how much,,,the mommy is missing for the past 2 days..plz help..i think i feed them to much....

  • how much do u feed baby birds? i just found one on the ground put it in a lil bowl thing, slide a heater under it put it on low and put some grass in straw in there. Is that how u do it?

  • What kind of bird?

  • a sparrow i think do u just keep feeding it until it stops opening its mouth and do u have to drip some water in their mouths too?

  • i was reading the you can put grass

  • my husband took them to the zoo today maybe they can help..i feel soooooooooo sad,, today i woke up and one more died...i just started to cry..i feel so guilty ...why do u say bread is not good 4 them? i also feed them mashed bannana..those poor babys if i knew what to do they would have not died...well i hope to got the last 3 make it..they were so week they picked up there head with much difficulty and eat the food..i pray 4 gods for giveness..

  • Wow.. I'm sure the babies will NEVER forget what a GREAT parents you were. I bet you were tired after they left. GREAT video!!! I'm sure you missed them.

  • Hey Mozimomma, I just got a sparrow today...a baby one. I have a lamp to keep it warm, I gave it pedialight to rehydrate it but I don't know what food to give him. So far, I have is baby parrot formula called Exact and gave it it's first meal. Also, if it has parasites, what could I give it as a remedy. My budget is low so I can't afford to go to the vet.

  • Watching this video I can see why the starling chick in the Winding Circle book series was named Shriek.

Is that a dog whining in the background?

  • Heheh, yeah they do let you know when they're hungry.;)

Could be a dog, not sure, but I do know my canary was singing in the background of this one.

  • Very Sweet

  • may god bless u

  • what do u feed them?

  • Since starlings eat insects this 'formula' was a mix of high protein (softened) dog food, hard boiled egg (shell included for calcium), and apple juice. All put through a blender for an almost liquid consistency at first. Eventually they started eating 'real' food (bugs and worms).

  • When you say protein softened dog food, do you mean that you took some of the hard dog food and softened it yourself with water, or that you bought it canned so it was already softened? Also, would cat food work? I found a baby starling tonight about to get run over in a busy parking lot and couldn't leave him. I read that canned cat food works better because it has more protein and it was all I had anyway, so I've been giving him canned Special Kitty.. will that hurt him???! Help! Thanks!

  • I used water-softened hard food. I honestly don't know about canned, or cat food, I just followed a "recipe" I found online. They both did fine and were released.

  • Cat food is better, but depending on the species, it could be mixed/blended with chicken flavored baby food for increased protein levels. Dog food alone will not give most birds what they need; even if they seem healthy, feather quality (among other things) is greatly afftected, thus they would be lucky if they made it to the first molt.

  • Thanks for this, I'll keep it in mind "if" there's a next time.;)

  • Thank you for being a good person.

  • Oh bless

  • They are so cute :) check out my bird video if you want they are cute too :)

  • They sure are noisy trying to get your attention for food, guess they are afraid of missing a meal. Not that this would happen in that nest!

  • Nope, I am the slave; what else is new? :))

  • Wait until they get another week older. They REALLY get loud and make cute growling sounds.

  • That's for sure. They've since been released, but they're still pestering me on occasion.:)

  • That's awfully cute :] I had the same problem.
