Its got nothing to do with ABS and everything to do with traction, the car that stopped quicker used much less technology while the one that kept going was using ABS overtime it would have slid out of control without ABS.
Rubbish. Both cars have ABS, with both cars you just mash your foot to the floor. There's no "using brakes properly" about it. Maybe you just don't understand how the winter tyres work.
@ableite Abs usually only comes into play when you start locking tyres. So if the Abs begins to interfere (and if my understanding is correct), you could just alternate the braking pressure accordingly. However, i do know some cars interfere too far before locking.

@sacr3 lol. i my self am only 16, drove most of last winter and i now have my intermediate. i drive an older, heavier car now and for winter i have 4 used winter tires. they were used last winter. my car has no anti lock or ABS and when i saw i was going to hit another car, i scanned the area, saw my exit and took it. if i feel i will not stop, i will turn if safe. i just so happen to be one of those people that can check all of this as it happens. if worse comes to worse... hit the snow bank!!
I found out last winter just how scetchy suimmer tires are in the cold. Falken RT615 tires, pretty much street leagal race tires, feel like they are on ball bearings once temps hit freezing. The short 2 block drive to the tire shop was very, very scetchy. If not for years of autox and time attacks, I might have crashed.
In case anyone is wondering, the winter tire used in this video is the Michelin Primacy Alpin (PA3). I know because I have these tires on my VW Jetta (aka Bora/Vento). They really are great tires. Smooth riding, stable, quiet, very safe with the best resistance to hydroplaning of any tire I have ever had. I am so glad I got these tires for the winter. So called "all season" tires are really only good for three seasons in northern climes. The benefit of winter tires is clear.

Je kunt gewoon niet autorijden als je niet zonder winterbanden in de sneeuw kunt rijden.
Je kunt beter gewoon thuis blijven en helemaal niet aan je auto komen. Want als je niet kan rijden moet je ook niet in een auto gaan zitten!!!!!
Echter je hebt veel te veel kansloze mensen vooral vrouwen die doodsbang zijn en bijvoorbeeld in een bocht remmen, en dus eruit vliegen en tegen de stoep aankomen. Ja het was glad... neeh jij bent een kneus en kan niet rijden.
En dit was nog bij hoge temeraturen. Een veel gemaakte fout bij het testen van winterbanden. 7gr is het kantelpunt. Dus bij 0gr zijn winterbanden klassen beter bij nat dan zomersloffen. En over sneeuw hoeven we het niet te hebben.
En ja natuurlijk je moet ook kunnen rijden. Maar ik ben toch bang dat het materiaal 80% van het totaal uitmaakt.
Precies. Ik was wat betreft winterbanden ook zo iemand. Nadat ik voor mijn stage bij de ANWB een test uitvoerde op Lelystad was ik ook om. Niet alleen de remweg maar ook de controle in de bochten is veel beter. Toch maakt een goede bestuurder veel verschil. Al onze testrijders gaan echt niet volgas door de sneeuw. Een goede bestuurder ben je pas als je erkent dat je dat niet bent en geen onnodige risico's neemt. Doe maar rustig aan, dan beperk je het gevaar..

Ik rijd zelf altijd puur voor mijn eigen veiligheid. Met het huidige verkeer kun je niet anders. In de randstad houdt niemand meer afstand.. Je kunt wel doorrijden (130-150km/h) altijd maar over 300km scheelt het 5 minuten en een hoop stress, bonnen en vooral schades aan jezelf en anderen. Klinkt saai. Maar wel veilig. Niemand wil dood. Ik ook niet. Rijd bewust!

Je kunt wel autorijden met zomerbanden in sneeuw. Alleen is het minder veilig, zie filmpje met uitleg over remweg ed.
