  • I remeber the guy introducing the band talking about some warehouses being sold for £100 grand for conversion to flats.

  • Nice one..

  • Great and nice sound mix thanks

  • I remember this as well. the introducer was saying how clever they were for using a german word, like those who say how " articulate " footballers are who can put a couple of sentences together. they were never the same after robert wyatt left.

  • i have a hard time accepting post 1970 soft machine because i know there are people that probably did this kind of thing better, though for all i know they may have been pioneers in the jazz field..........that said, i can now enjoy this for what it is.

  • @posthumanhero

Honestly, I understand your sentiment, but from third to sixth, Soft Machine did a form of jazz rock, that I have never really heard replicated. It does not stand out as distinctive to the same degree as Volume 2 or Moon in June, but I find myself being amazed at how distinctive and enjoyable 3-6 Soft Machine were. Once Hopper leaves and Jenkins really began to take over, and Holdsworth joined their sound shifted towards a less distinctive form of jazz rock/fusion.

  • great !

the best tune of the last good period of soft Machine.

Softs msot their soul after Hugh Hopper left

  • Thanks so much for posting this .... it's brilliant ... a real find.

  • Brilliant - any idea what the programme is?

  • @NeilThompson30

I believe it is from a program called "Full House," broadcast 12-29-72

  • It was indeed 'Full House', as you say. I remember seeing it at the time! Presented by Joe Melia, the Soft Machine also played another piece. Brilliant stuff.

  • Awesome! Big thanks to gamma:)

  • Fantastic to see this...The 'Floating Drummer' just Love John's playing....

  • @drumgit yes he's truly light and powerful at the same time....one of the best and most underrated...but the skilled listeners know him very well....tks for posting this track...
