Of course I understand the lyrics. Don't take us Finns as a fool, most of us learn english for 9 years. And we are aware about what happens in US. But the solo is remarkable. Niels sounds ALMOST as good as Eddie Van Halen. But just almost...
When Bruce does a song like this outside the rust belt, do the fans understand exactly what he's singing about...I see comments about the excellent guitar solo and what not, which it is, but do people really understand the plight of workers, and how corp greed has destroyed our country's middle working class? This song always chokes me up being that I'm from near that area, and had relatives that worked in the steel industry.
The same thing goes to many Bruce's songs like Born In The USA, which many keep as the over-patriotic tribute to United States even if the song is critic for the lack of respect for veterans of war of Vietnam. Bruce is excellent rock artist but he is also much more than that if you listen the lyrics.
..P.S. But you have to admit that Niels is unbelievable with his guitar!
Why wouldn't we understand. It is plain english and the words are simple. Here we have gone the other way around: the workers unions are ruining entrepreneurship
ok understand this people.....they didn't play this much on this last tour and nils is playing the solo like it was played 100 times on this tour. go nils!
He puts so much emotion into this version, like he is singing for those people who were affected by the loss of steel making. Bruce keep singing out the plight of Middle class american workers like me.....
Been there, seen that. The day that I cant forget. Thanks Boss and the ESB!

@buckeyefan20012001 I think that you can feel the pain and anger in that guitar solo.

This was the best song that evening, only song where the band respected each others playing without making a cacophony.
And a tasteful solo.
