  • Smooth mate, smooth. Better music next time though, huh? Haha

  • Haha cheers mate.

Shocked you don't like the music though :O

Catch you in Moreton soon man.

    Peace.

  • ben,

the force is strong with you. i sense that you are a much superior runner than i, and for your efforts, i applaud you.

    +4 internets.

  • Hey mate, thanks for the kind comment. Don't go comparing yourself to other practitioners - it's all about personal efforts, discipline, achievements, accomplishments and continual improvements.

Keep training hard. If you're ever in the North you should come and train with us - Sheffield, Manchester or the peak district.

    Peace,

    Ben

  • Have the Ariakes got good grip and stuff? And are they worth getting?

  • No.

If you get a pair given to you for free (as was the case for me), by all mean put them on and see how they feel to move in. However if you're considering buying a pair, please send the money to me and I will go out and buy you five or six better pairs and a pair for myself. Seriously, they'd be a waste of money. They're ok but nothing special.

Any trainer that feels comfortable for you to run and jump in, they're pretty much ok.

  • thnx

  • at: 1:14 were you wearing K-Swiss Ariakes

  • Yes. As a matter of fact I was wearing them throughout (almost) the whole video!

  • Ok, thanks ben!BTW I just landed a Kong Vault 4 the first time!

  • Well done! Keep up the training, mate.

  • thx (No need 2 reply)

  • that trick with the tree at 1:90ish was amazing!! gd parkour there. looked like fun :)

  • Cheers man, I was particularly proud of that accomplishment if I'm honest. It's a pretty neat move.

  • srry i ment 1:50ish

  • freak xD 5/5

  • Nice vid. How long do those K-Swiss shoes last?

  • I wore mine for about 4 months (not just parkour) and then put my old Nike Darts on and realised how much more comfortable they were and I haven't looked back since. I thought they were good shoes at the time, they took a few days, but I can still vouch for some of their good features like the grip and I think they're very stylish. Definitely not a necessity or a "must have" for parkour. Won't make you better. Oh and they came apart a bit after a couple of months. Started to look really tacky.

  • They lasted about 4 weeks for me.

  • what is the song mate...

  • 'Mass Destruction' by Faithless

'The Boogie That Be' by The Black Eyed Peas

  • Thats very good! Congratulations

  • i cant belive u took that fish up the top of the dam du lac your a fucking dickhead mate !!

  • lmao Sam you gay. You haven't even paid for the trip yet. Don't even get me started on your spelling of "you're"...

Just to clarify to people, Sam was on the trip with me and posted that because I was telling him yesterday that I'd got loads of stick on here about the fish.

  • we just found the note... we took it home but put a knew 1 that said the same thing but cheers anyways ur good as tho

  • i think he put it back in the same hole. we found it in. extremely random time we had in lisses. definately same time next year. it would be cool to meet you up there if your around then.

the portugese are really nice guys aswell we had a brief meeting the night before we left.

  • haha yeah i put the secret message back in the hole where i found it :-) - might still be there next year, you never know

  • yo wassup man, glad you found the harry potter mask, that was insanely funny to wear round the hotel and such, but dont try a backflip with it on! :P

i am one of the guys from suffolk parkour who were there the week before you arrived. lol @ your dame du lac secret message and the fish ahahahahahahaha mega lolz.

  • lol did your mate take my message home with him and replace it with the one I found?

Glad you liked the vid. Fishhhhh.

  • Why are people giving you props for the fish? Man, I put up with traceurs tagging property and leaving their plastic bags all over the place, but the direct taking of the life of a fish I KNOW you didn't cook, for a laugh? That's low, man.

  • Alright man, I just read your blog, if the fish was dead already I apologise.

  • Ok mate. Thanks for taking it back. I wouldn't parade around a live fish like that! As I said in the blog, I allowed the fish to fulfil its life ambition in death.

If I ever see any traceurs torturing fish at jams, I'll tell them off for you.

  • Cheers, bro. Just for the record again: I'm sorry. I think I snapped so quick because I'd been reading all morning about those rebels in the Congo taking over protected forests and killing endangered Mountain Gorillas, you know? So I was ready to snap at the first guy I caught stepping on a cockroach. ;-) Lesson learned - I'll slow down next time.

  • lol fair enough.

    Hope you enjoyed the vid.

  • yeah man, we iz all graffiti artists man, and we iz putting da litter and shit all ova da place yea...

    >_>

  • Props man, I really loved your cat leaps. And I can only imagine the climb down from dame du lac... Good job.

  • Great video Ben, sweet technique dude. It is refreshing to see some actual footage of someone, in this case you, coming down from the top of the Dame Du Lac. That is a scary momment! Keep up the fine training Ben, cheers. Zeno

  • Grr it lost the reply I typed out!

Thanks a lot for the comment mate, I really appreciate it.

Getting to the top of the Dame is an extreme mental challenge but in no way compares with getting back down! The first bit is the hardest where you have to kick your legs over the edge and hope your feet find the ledge. The rest of the way down is shockingly nerving.

  • And to think you conquered the Dame with a fish.

  • lmao! Yeh I put the fish in a carrier bag and put it in my pocket. That time I also had the Harry Potter mask wrapped round the back of my head. The mask has been left on the dame by a traceur and it says "use in pk videos" on it, my mates had told me about it the week before and I found it there.

I came down with the mask but left the fish up there. The Portuguese UF guys that we met at the hotel had found it the next day lol.

  • When I was making my way down from the top of the Dame Du Lac there in May, I remembered your reply hear on this youtube vid of yours. I smiled as I kicked my legs over the edge, but scared at the same time.

I hope you are well and training is all good Ben.

    Cheers

    Zeno

  • Haha it's nice to hear that you thought of me as you took the plunge!

Have you got a video from your trip?

    Take care.

  • secret message! paul and ben have started the dam du lac secret message game for traceurs! good vid man

  • Hey who's this? How did you know about the secret message game?

Paul and Danny left a message for me on the Dame, but it got found by a "3runner" from Suffolk, and he contacted me to let me know (via Google, my site and msn - there was no email on the secret message, only my name!) and then I found the message he'd replaced mine with, and left one of my own in its place. It's a corrupted chain of secret messages!

  • sorry for the late reply mate. me names tim. from the manc crew. train with paul and dean every week. paul told me about the secret message. thats ace idea. as the PK community will use it.

  • Cool stuff. I envy you living in Mancs and training with Paul every week. I'm moving there next year for uni wooooo!

  • yeah manc got some good stuff. i love it and training there. cant wait to see you there next year lad

  • Yeh cool. I look forward to being part of the Manchester Parkour scene FULL TIME! I'm just a floating visitor/friend/almost-family-member at the moment. You guys have a sick week's regime with jams and hell nights. Way better than Sheffield at the moment.

  • really? i dont know mate i aint been ther. but i hear that its all winding down on their end. but yeah alwasy seems to be new people about everyother week like. be ace to train with the legendary ben. you seen pauls trtace 07 vid? really good. when you down our way next?

  • Legendry Ben?

Yeh saw Paul's Trace vid. Was ace. You weren't at Trace, were you? Have I met you before?

  • nah man thats why your legendary ben! lol. next trce and lisses trip am there

  • You know, it would have been easier just to walk up those stairs.

  • lmao Sam...

I'm training for a situation where I don't have that option.

  • I can't believe someone voted me down. Youtube has some kind of anti-sarcasm perception field.

"It's got gills and everything"? Without your fantastic detective work we would never have known if it was a real fish.

  • Haha I can't even remember saying that! I just noticed it when editing so wanted to highlight it.

I love this new digg comments system on YouTube.

  • Have you been dugg yet? Maybe I should submit the video.

    Hahahahahahaha.

Do you keep digging me down, Ben? Or is it someone else who doesn't realise I know you?

  • Ben J'habite tu!!! lamo siick vid :D cheers for organising such a siik trip!

  • the bit with you and the fish was good enough for the video alone. :D

    haha

good stuff man, hope you had a good time

  • Haha cheers mate

By the way everyone, a full account of the trip including extra photos has now been published on my blog. You ought to know the address by now, what with all my subliminal url inputs into your minds...

  • Phat/Mint!

  • You are quite possibly the first person ever to take a fish to the top of the Dame Du Lac. Great video!

  • wow really grrrreat video. Could you tell me what songs you used? and what did you do with the poor ol' fish

  • Songs used:

    'Mass Destruction' by Faithless

'The Boogie That Be' by the Black Eyed Peas

Ok just to clarify - I did not KILL that fish. It was dead when I found it floating in the water and I 'fished' it out of the water and took it up the Dame. It spent its whole life in the Lac and wanted more than anything to explore the beauty seen from the top of the monument it swam past every day. I managed to allow it to fulfil its life ambition in death.

  • Haha! SPK on the dam, well done mate, veyr funny stuff and great PK ;)

  • Ok there's a story to this. I wrote 'SPK' on the sign, then Danny write 'Steel City Motion' and then wrote 'SPK' again and I was like "OMG why did you write it again? That looks stupid with it twice!!" and was rather angry, and then Sam wrote 'JS' (Jump Stoke) and then wrote 'SPK' again to piss me off! lol

  • Love it man, dead good vid. What a place eh. xxx
