you can get this stuff called excavator sand at some pet stores and you just wet it a little and make a small burrow and its great for burrowing scorps cause they can burrow at any part of the tank without worrying about it collapsing on them...
I've heard the excavator stuff gets quite hard when set and scorps may have trouble burrowing. I've never used it personally so I'm on the fence really. The stuff I've seen is 'Zoo Med Excavator Clay' do you think this will do the job?
give it a shot dude, im sure it wont hurt... but it looks like your scorp is doing fine... its when they CANT burrow that they become stressed.... try mixing in the clay stuff with the sand and see what kind of results you get....
@AHeadC it only hardens when its wet i have it for my h. arizonensis i mix zoo med excavator and just regular zoo med sand, and i spray it with water a mix it up so its just barely wet and i put it in a couple hairys and they immediately start digging because i dont give them hides, once they dig a bunch of tunnels i chip away all the slightly hard sand around the tunnels and add regular sand and hides. but im crazy i go too far with stuff. lol
ppl think that these scorpions love sand, u can use regular dirt.
what i do is:
collect dirt frm where i found the scorpion, then add it to the enclosure, lastly put a little water in the enclosure right on top of the substrate..let it set/dry then add the scorp.
& i have never found an Hadrurus arizonensis in fine sand, & 80% of the time there under rotted wood or cacti skeletons.
cute lil guy

Hey what kind of sand are you using? i have this black dessert sand that im using but is too loose for my AH to burrow..

Yeah, I wanted to ask the same thing. What substrate did you use or if it just basic sand how'd you prepare it?
I was going to do the whole wet, pack and dry thing but it could be risky with a HA needing low humidity.
