  • Nice Vid, Nice Music man!

  • Just awesome pilot and aircraft, very nice video thanks for sharing it.

  • x-wind landings at its best. Great pilot!

  • why is there a hunk of something flapping around on the rudder?

  • Nice flying!

  • hahahahaha...

  • Truly amazing and there is no better engine than a RR to power the beauty.

  • Wonderful vid. That sky...

  • @samliist You are either trolling, or severely retarded. The A380 is an ugly fat-assed turkey, and your comparing apples to oranges. The two planes are not even in the same category. The 747-8 is so superior to the Scarebus A380 that I would need 10 comments to list all the reasons. And the Dreamliner will be a money making machine for airlines.

  • @samliist If you would have any clue what so ever you would know that Dreamliner is not made to compete with A380.

  • oh man, great video!

  • this pilot is danm skilled.

  • Beautiful pilot skills, and very beautiful aircraft! May I ask what is the little object tetheres to the tip of the tail? It must be for airflow info, but I have never seen one. Very curious!

  • The most fuel efficient, most environmentally friendly, most lightest & yet strongest composite material composed of, most comfortable ride & best air purification system for passenger in any plane ever built so far; I'm so very proud of you, Boeing Dreamliner!!! [with love from SanFrancisco]

  • why is there always a bird flying around the tail??

  • @lamwinglong1 It is not a bird, it is a sensor attached to the tail to measure the air flow behind the plane.

  • Not a pretty plane on the ground, beautiful in the air! Love the wing!

  • ANA 787 DELIVERY CELEBRATION (FULL VIDEO)

    /watch?v=BFscb7lbKnk

  • Great landings, that is a graceful and stupid quiet jet

  • That was an outstanding touchdowns!

  • Comment removed

  • i wonder how the inside looks

  • @TheMitchConnor Stupid plane? The hype about the plane is because of the materials it is built with and the engines, you are the stupid one for expecting it to fly at mach 3

  • Beautiful airplane.

  • These landings were so pro !

  • Comment removed

  • Hey @dabb do you know what the little parachute on the tail is for? Does it give them a reference to measure something?

  • @TheMitchConnor I'm sorry your parents abused you. Maybe your next life will be more pleasant. Have A Nice Day.

  • Excellent video of yet another proud Boeing design. I see this plane flying around often here. Last May I was in Moses Lake, watching the Boeing-liveried 787 doing ILS trials there. She's a beautiful plane!

  • @TheMitchConnor I've flown on every type of aircraft ever built by Boeing except the 707 and the 727, and never have I seen a vase with flowers on any of them. And you might want to do your research before undermining this plane...like, seriously. I don't even know you and I'm sure you can do better that.

  • @deadman07ut

The title is pretty clear about that sir. Boeing 787.

  • @deadman07ut no offense but are you blind? it says in the video and it says "B787 Dreamliner" in the title

  • @yoyoyoyoshua sorry i was confused .this plane was awesome.

    thanks for the reply.

  • @yoyoyoyoshua it ok :)

  • @deadman07ut Its ANA 787

  • @deadman07ut Are you retarded?

  • This is a great looking aircraft! A sort of mix between a 767 and an Embraer (thinking of the nose). Look forward to Icelandair getting their hands on these!

  • The wingspan of that thing in the air is just a work of art.

  • Actually, it is the pilot who is handling the aircraft that makes it all happen so smoothly. This guy had his act totally together!!

  • Too bad the sound off those engines is not that hard :(

  • Hm... fascinating. Looks like the plane had no problems with extreme crosswind.

  • what camera did you used?

  • great video

  • The wing tips appears to be so fragile...

  • an amazing plane!

  • does anyone know what is that thing that is hanging from the rudder???

  • @davidHxC21 i would make the assumption that it's a camera

  • @mztthew

    dude...seriously...

    observe

    think

    type

    prefereably in that order.

of what possible value to "Flight test" would the video be of a camera that is thrashing around

in the turbulent air flow behind the airliner?

The aircraft being tested might be in frame...5 percent of the time..maybe...but moving

so rapidly across the frame as to make any attempt at extracting useful data..utterly pointless.

  • @davidHxC21

The object is not dangling from the rudder.

The object is dangling from the vertical stabilizer.

...and it is called a "trailing cone".

I would link to a very nice LARGE pic of this a/c showing the trailing cone attachment,

but alas, YT does not allow linking photos.

..you will have to practice your wiki-fu

...as for what a trailing cone does....if your wiki fu is successful..you will know soon enough.

    *hint...think.."accurate airspeed measurement..."

  • I am gonna fly this!

  • Beautiful plane... I would expect nothing less from Boeing.... 'cause, "If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going..."

  • what is name the airport?

  • @gildecona Paine Field Airport

  • Comment removed

  • @gildecona The name of the airport is Leifstöð in icelandic, or just kefairport

  • What a beautiful wing!

  • being made of composite material, i would think there would be more wing flex during landing. i know the first one they test flew had a huge amount of wing flex during take off. anyone know if they reconfigured the wing or made it stronger with less flex??

  • excellent quality.. would have been cooler in 1080p... do you have a 1080p camera? thanks for sharing

  • it did a crosswind landing with no passengers on board!!??XD

  • @MrNick2198 " The Dreamliner came to Keflavik with a crew of 100 to do some x-wind tests" here is your answer.

Amazing plane cant wait for it to be in the skies !

  • anyone notice the black thing swinging round the tail on landing?

  • @20100565 probably the price tag....! :)

  • What's that thing hanging at the rudder?

  • this plane is a beauty

  • Hey nice music!

  • That plane has some, "big ass" engines.

  • @LeMegasandwich Im positive the pilot was praying to lol! That looked freakin cool

  • Comment removed

  • Man!!!! that needs so much skill!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! And damn that landing gear takes a hell of a punishment!!!

  • Everybody is going retro, the front end and windows look just like the very first commercial jet plane the comet!!

  • amazing video...but doont like these new bacon and strobe lights..liked the old BLINK-BLINKBLINK effect :D like on the ng

  • Great pilot. nice plane

  • The biggest faulty construction of Boeing

  • ok....stupid question...but ...what is that lanyard hanging off the vertical stabilizer?...its on there on the first flight video too....please someone satisfy my curiosity

  • @blueflame53 it's a trailing cone used for determining airspeed. search trailing cone on wikipedia for more info.

  • @mr1286 a million thanks sir, that's been killing me!... lol but now I know.

  • @blueflame53 the trailing cone. its used for static pressure. they can reel it in close or in flight they can let it out 200 or more feet depending on the test.

  • Love it!

  • When we lived in Iceland on the base back in 94-98, I used to spend lots of time just watching aircraft take off and land during high winds like this. Once spotted a huge 74 cargo plane try to get out of a snow bank, it rolled off of the runway during an aborted takeoff.

  • Incredible skill. Incredible technology.

  • you can see through engines, wheeeeee!

  • Like clock work...hell of a pilot, for sure!

  • does anyone know why the 787 has this zig-zag on the back of each engine? any technical reason, or is it just to look better?

  • @vsbfbmusic I'm not certain on this but I believe that it's there for noise abatement.

  • @vsbfbmusic Boeing claims that this design help reduce the noise from the engine by 20% as i heard from some source

  • @vsbfbmusic The zig-zag on the cowlings are meant to reduce the noise levels produced by the engines...and yes I'm an aerospace engr. graduated last year.

  • @vsbfbmusic They're called 'chevrons' and they're incorporated into the engines design to reduce noise.

  • @LeMegasandwich yeah fuck religion

  • I wanna make love to it. God Damn SO SEXY!! <3

  • Dig the music!

  • simplemente hermoso

  • the wings look sexy

  • looks like a huge glider at 0:38 !!

  • Great quality video Dabb, which encoder did you use?

  • @deltaflayer

I used imovie to edit it and the encoder that comes with it when you export it.

  • @dabb Ok great job. Thanks

  • Do they normally just leave the landing gear down for these test flights?

  • It's interesting how Boeing chose to add so many spoiler panels to the 787. They take up most of the wing except the area over the outboard ailerons but the outboard ailerons (as well as the inboards) double as spoilers on landing so essentially the spoilers take up the entire trailing edge of the wing! Really cool.

  • Superb video! Thanks for posting. I was surprised to see no.2 smokes just a liiiittle bit at full power. Also saw an a.nutter at the end... I remember his shots, being an a.net photograph myself :)

  • X-wind landings are so nasty looking. Sure does let a really good pilot showoff though...

  • at 2:07 till 2:11 ... what's the black dot following the aircraft? Like rite behind the Tail wing?

  • @boeing747pilotklm Its a radio antenna.

  • @Prometheus203 Didn't know that ! thanks

  • what's the wire doing at the tail? is it still to measure things?

  • @LeMegasandwich ahahaha "religion: 0" xDD

  • That was a boring video.

I really found it nice to watch though

  • Must be scary flying something made in america.

  • @EuroSon99 Not as scary as flying in something made by Airbus. I'd rather fly in an Embraer (from Brazil) than an Airbus.

  • @188043, You should first check the statistics of the past decades. Boeing has clearly had more crashes. But if you want to risk your very own life then i can`t stop you. Good luck.

  • @EuroSon99 Well if you want to compare the number of crashes between the two i will admit that Boeing does have more crashes, but then you need to look at when the companies were started. Boeing is a far older company therefore they will have had more crashes considering they started building planes 40 years before Airbus when technology and aviation knowledge was nowhere near what it is today. Today, i still believe Boeing is the better company. You wanna risk *your* life? Go ahead.

  • Amazing video and editing. The subtle use of the music track was very effective and enjoyable.

  • 787 = Elegant Seagull

    A380 = Plump Pottwhale

  • @LeMegasandwich The thing is thou we do know that as it's told us by prophets. And in the nature of being, everything is "made" or "created". therefore for the most basic thinking, there has to be someone who's made (created) everything. fotunately god did not left us thinking and let us know his existence. Obviously, this topic is a bit bigger for a youtube comment :)

  • @LeMegasandwich

what t f? boeing engineers atheists? who created math, physics and those engineers anyway?

  • The 787 is a beauty... Great landings... Great video.

  • best ever crosswind test result.

  • This dude was a pretty badass pilot, i was on a trip to Iceland doing some business at the Airport there and got to watch him take off and land quite a few times.

  • OMG!!

That's the best crosswind landing video I've ever seen.

    Great video quality.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • 0:53 This Pilot is a Beast !!!!!! Look how he lands that plannee♥

  • Good job!

  • This is one of the best videos explaining crosswind landings I have seen. Great music btw.

  • It's as if giants were playing with toy airplanes and landing and taking them off. Great pilot work, and awesome video. Thanks.

  • @LeMegasandwich is it something somewhere in religion that says that planes cannot land with crossed wind?

  • ANA? Why?

  • Nice clean video thanks for sharing. Just wondering what that baloon hanging off the rudder is for? I have seen it before on other testing aircraft also.

  • Nice Video. I like this plane!!!!!!!!!

  • They did this in Keflavic!!!! Must be with all the wind. You're really lucky to have seen it there! Do you ever see diverted transatlantic airliners some times ( for medical reasons or mechanical problems) ?

  • Would this particular plane have the RR Trent 1000's or the GEnx's engines?

  • @Vintagesansui800 With a 10 ft sicker on the side of the engine with the letters RR one can only conclude that they are not the GEnx. Unless they want to tell us the machine is Really Reliable, Readily Renewable, Repaired and Repentant - or something.

  • boeing please teach airbus how to make planes

    stupied airbus

  • the mother of all state of arts :)

  • Brilliant video. What a plane!

  • It's most beautiful boeing ever made. In your face airbus!

  • Nice landings!

  • Wonder if All Nippon (the launch customer) knew their delivery aircraft was going to be doing this!

Nice looking aeroplane - love the upsweep.

  • @PIREPvideos This aircraft is not actually going to ANA, it will remain at Beoing a test plane. It has only been painted in ANA livery to promote ANA, just like ANA will leave one of theirs future 787 in Boeing livery to promote Boeing as a manufacturer.

  • @LeMegasandwich

Who invented the laws of physics, maths, engineering, etc for man to 'discover'?

  • What's that thing attached at the tail at 0.20 s ?

  • 1:22 look at the left main gear as it hits the ground! never seen that before...

  • Awesome. Once I was on a 737 that had to do a landing like that, I was looking out the window and was scared shitless. Of course, it all worked out...but wow, I'm glad pilots have such skill.

  • Great vid.

  • Very nice video, and what a beautiful aircraft. Nice skills, but most experienced pilots are just as good with their respective aircraft. Where I fly these conditions are normal, in fact not only do we fly in such conditions, but I land with these high crosswinds off strip. Meaning not on a runway! You can see my video's to understand. I don't fly Boeing, but in a Twin Otter a 30kt cross wind is much more difficult then in an aircraft weighing over 200,000lbs!

  • amazing landing! and video!

  • Cowbear- I don't think you know what you are talking about. Take-off flap is always far less than landing flap, and even if you are doing a 'touch and go', you always retract flap to take-off position while you are still rolling down the runway at idle thrust. I was up there for these trials. I fly in this weather!

  • Pardon my french but HOLY SHIT!!! That my friends is what you call having Mad Skillz.

  • Realmente este piloto tem o avião nas suas mãos.

  • This is why Airbus needs to allow more pilot control. Can you imagine trying to land in that crosswind and the plane not responding to your rudder input because the computer thinks you (the pilot) doesn't know what he or she is doing?

  • @rickrudd you obvioulsy dont know what you are talking about. A Fly-by-wire Airbus aircraft can land in crosswind aswell as any Boeing.

Check out the A380 crosswind test landings.

  • @LeMegasandwich I Agree...Religion sucks!

  • Great pilot! Beautiful airplane!!

  • The pilot IS very good. He/she DEFINITELY knows what they're doing. That's a pretty crazy cross-wind, and sideslip to correct.

  • Boeing \m/. (>.<) .\m/

  • Flott myndband. Haugur af fólki búið að skoða!

  • What was this filmed using? Great video quality btw

  • @Fruity0102

    I used Sony HVR-V1E

    HDV camera 3CCD 1080i

  • Noticed he kept flaps trimmed to 30/80 on both approaches but retracted a further 10/80 on takeoff which is normally suicide, so this pilot really knows how to fly! Most would have nosedived and crashed at those extreme angles.

  • @CowBearUK

30/80 - 30 degree flaps but what does the 80 stand for?

  • @dabb Throttle setting??? Just a guess.

  • @dabb max flaps i believe

  • @CowBearUK what nonsense are you posting

  • @CowBearUK, Most people that are not pilots maybe would have nose dived. You can check out my video's and see that I have never nose dived. Most experienced pilots handle their aircraft in these types of conditions like second nature. This is what we are trained for. These guys are no more special then any experienced pilot. Where I fly we encounter conditions like this on a regular basis, and we do it with aircraft that weigh a fraction of what the 787 weighs.

  • @CowBearUK I don't think any of that made sense.

  • @CowBearUK I don't understand

  • Beautiful airplane. Beautiful footage. Great work cutting this together.

  • one thing i do know

    that thing is massive!!
