I bet it still chugs in the imperial city with enough NPCs walking around. Even with my i5 2500k at 4.0GHz, a GTX460 and 8GB of DDR3 I still manage to have my framerate dip pretty low in cities. Then again, I have a bunch of graphical mods installed and Qarl's texture pack, so idk.

You can also use MLAA on ATI's cards, but all these go beyond the standard settings available to the game and I need these settings to keep performance figures, as comparable as possible, from system to system.

It runs even on GeForce FX5200! Poorly, but runs... It is old game. You should all install a HD patch around 2,1GB + other HD texture/game engine patches!! And then try to run it on max settings! >:)

I didn't do anything specific actually. The option was there and I selected it. Nothing else!

As for antialiasing, it surely was disabled for this video. Oblivion does not support HDR along with AA at the same time.

I don't think the CPU would have anything to do with graphics settings in Oblivion.

Well I can officially say that I bought a gigabyte GTX 460 super overclocked today and I am so disappointed and don't know what to do? I had a GT230 previously and every game i have tried with the GTX 460 looks terrible, has texture loading problems and is just overall horrible, I know something must be wrong but I have an i7 860, 8gb ram, 2x tb hard drive, windows 7 64 bit home premium. I also got advised to buy a corsair 500w psu which I did, what could be happening? plz help

First of all make sure that you have the latest drivers installed.

Also do a stability test with Furmark and if you see artifacts then take the card back to the shop.

@toutagamon Hi mate, here is my furmark score with extreme burning mode, displacement mapping and post effects on score: 2159. Without the post effects etc, it was score: 4500 roughly. Does this seem correct and does this indicate any problems? Thanks for you help

I just wanted you to run the stability test for a few minutes and see if any artifacts were presented.

You can also try unigine heaven 2.1 with 8XAA so you fill the framebuffer and uncover any memory problems.

@toutagamon I ran the Heaven Benchmark, I ran it like you said, API: dx 11, Shaders: High, Tesselation: Normal, Anisotropy: 1, AA: 8x, 1680 x 1050, full screen.

It did seem to stutter and run very slowly and awkwardly at some stages, also not rendering too well in the distance again, what does this sound like to you?

That does not make sense man. If the card had a problem it would artifact or crash. It wouldn't filter bad!

Are you sure you haven't done anything seriously wrong in Nvidia's control panel?

If all else fails, boot into safe mode, use driver sweeper to clean anything Nvidia related and the reboot normally and install the drivers again.

@toutagamon at 1.32 when you see into the distance on yours it looks perfect and all rendered far into the distance, mine does not do that at all, it looks terrible and all one blurred colour, that's the problem I keep getting in every game with this card it doesn't load into the distance fast enough or not at all sometimes.

@toutagamon I've done everything you said with the booting in safe mode, etc, and removed and replaced all drivers, and it seems to have improved a lot, I'm now playing Arma 2 Operation Warhead without a hitch online.

Maybe I'm expecting too much from the distance rendering, but judging by your performance with oblivion etc, I should be able to get similar results shouldn't I?

Yes you should expect similar results. Make sure you are using the same settings. Try launching the game from its launched and not directly from the .exe, so you get all the options during startup.

thanks for uploading this. that's a pretty intense PSU for the gtx 460, are you planning to do SLI or something or why so much overkill? I'm pretty sure 600w is all you need, maybe 650 with some overclocking.

Yeah it's overkill really. I had this PSU on my primary rig and I had some problems there, so I though it was the PSU and got a new one. It turned out the PSU was fine after all, so I installed on this system. It's an 80+ or something so it's no biggy.
