  • 11 dislikes???....would love to know why??

  • brilliant song, brilliantly sung

  • Sinead,

Your talent is too awesome a gift not to share with a world that needs your angelic voice. Deep in your heart there is indeed some help you can bring...

Sing up, sing out, sing on! It is written in your stars.

  • Sinead Lohan is simply spectacular in this video; subtle with her inflections, and powerful with simplicity. Can it be we will never see or hear from her again? I can only hope we will. She is truly a treasure to behold!

  • A true loss for the world of music. But one that can be respected. This is truly one great song performed by a great artist. I listen to it at least once a day just to remind me that there is still reason to listen to music.

  • Hey! My name :) Thanks for the song ;3 kidding :P But really it is my name

  • Ten people are suffering worthless foam from the mouth.

  • No one can sing this song only her in fairness, ive listen to the bob delan version but shes outstanding singing this song

  • she apparently has chosen 'homemaking' or 'housewife' over the music industry, according to Kevin Courtney, from the Irish Times. She has a project in 'the can' done with Malcom Burn, but it doesn't look like it'll ever see the light of day! A real shame-she was almost at the "Explosive" point...... 6 more months, and BAM! The Real bigtime. She allegedly didn't like the 'biz' then, nor now! Our loss....she was GREAT!

  • Lovely

  • This is the best performance of this song

  • Great piece of work!

  • great version ,very nice voice

  • Beautiful rendition of one of Dylan's best songs.

  • La chica esta re-mona.

  • Best version I've heard

  • Without a doubt THE very best cover of one of Dylans very best songs. She is obviously feeling and loving it on a deep level. The song itself is,to my mind, one of Dylans very best songs,a beautiful melody married to words and advice from a man who was so ridiculously young to be in a position to hand out such heavy advice.

And it contains one of my favourite memes....'who knows Baby someday maybe I'll come and be 'kind'/crying to you.

    Brilliant brilliant brilliant stuff.

  • If there's been a better cover version of a Dylan song than this one, I've never heard it. She absolutely nails it and her backing band (especially the guitarist) are just fantastic. Love and peace.

  • I seen her in the cork opera house in 1994, it felt like i had been invited into her kitchen for a sing song. Sinead I loved that concert, it had such a homely feel to it and of course the video gives some idea how brillant the concert was. Come back soon, your are missed.

  • That last line... it kills me every time. This lovely voice drove the sharp point deeper than Bob did...and he just about murdered me!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Thanks Sinead!

  • sinead lohan recorded a version of this song with joan baez, does anyone have that video?

  • Quite simple a lament in relaitionship., very deep for honest reasons!

  • You need not explain it lines. Sinead expresses it so wonderfully.

  • Absolute genius. That's how to cover an all time classic from Bob. Hopefully we will start to hear more from Sinead in the future.

  • Sublime. Thanks, Tom. (You, too, Sinead!)

  • avoid the silk wom the brace of the beast is tighter than the lords.

  • just discovered this and want to thank tomtscotland for uploading it go raibh mile maith agat1

  • Donal Lunny is okay in small doses but does he have to be stuck in EVERY acoustic track by an Irish singer?

  • Where o where is this beautiful woman?

  • beautiful

  • hope sinead sees these comments and starts recording again

  • Nice guitar - same as mine!.....

Great rendition of this classic Dylan song.

  • This is fantastic. What a fabulous voice and interpretation of one of Bob's most under rated songs.

  • What an exquisite, transcendentally lovely voice and sensibility and heart.

    Sinéad...are you still there?

If someone is in the rare position of being able to singlehandedly make the world a better place by simply engaging one's heart and singing, well, then...

  • sinead lohan is one of irelands best singer song writers,,,, but has gone in to hiding,,,i seen her in UL years ago and the best concert i have ever been to.... cant understand why she still is`nt recording....

  • Got the fada on Sinéad right but "2 Romona" - what's that all about? To RAmona!

  • I love her voice. And I also think she should grow her hair back out. This looks way better.

  • Maravilha de voz e interpretação

  • maybe shed be better looking if she washed her hair...

  • Such a beautiful song and such a beautiful rendition ! bravo jeune femme !

  • @ghostofblues brava*

  • you are wonderful consy

  • Was looking for the Dylan version and this one came across!!! *****

  • ah christ.....i was hoping this was slipknot...

  • ASTONISHING!

    DB

  • the lady needs a to putta abit asoul into the mix

  • The sound quality of this is terrible. Would rather listen to her version on A Woman's Heart - A Decade On. Don't know whether it's the rip from the DVD or what, but there is none of her heart in this version :(

  • Sorry - couldn't edit my prev post :(

Been trying to post a link to the other video of this song that is here but keep being told that am making an ERROR, TRY AGAIN......so search for it yourselves :P

If only there was a live version that had this audio quality. Listen to both on headphones and tell me which makes you cry....

  • its so fing annoying that i cant find the original on youtube, just a billion covers

  • 10 people have zero appreciation of quality

  • one like isn't enough. like times 100,0000,000,000

  • cant beat this girl tosh

  • I love you Phoebe

  • this is much better than david gray version.........beautifull

  • That's right. sing for me, beautiful.! (:

  • ...wonderful song...amazing voice.....

  • @Erikajust : anything Donla Lunny is involved in will always be top-class .... a brilliant musician...

  • Sinead, et al, I found this at a time that I really needed it. Anyone can play the notes, but you all found the music in them.

  • fantastic song.. very very good!!!!

  • falling in love with this woman #

  • @pristinebob I know! And why won't she sing again? Where is she now? What a fucking waste...

  • Waylon Jennings version of this song is my favorite but David Gray's is a close second. I'm sorry but this version is void of emotion. She may as well been singing the song in a foreign language.

  • @PorchDogPondering n that one sentence you expose your lack of understanding of a great singer who sings from the heart , notice the depth the instrumentists put into playing and the thoughts running through their minds althought i admitt to listing to other versions of this song including waylon you have to understand sinead made this song sing to people who understand pure talent and not market gain

  • Wow. Expertly done, and so much soul from Sinead.

If anyone has her accoustic version of "Whatever It Takes" please post it.

  • Bob Dylan wrote some of the most beautiful, cut-deep lyrics of all time. I thought th Alan Price version of this was the best for years, until I heard this.

Check out the song Mermaids (I think thats what its called) Joan Baez does a version of it too.

  • one of the most astonishing discoveries i´ve found on YT so far. makes me cry

  • one of the most astonishing discoveries i´ve found on YT so far. makes me cry

    same here!

  • soothing

  • blissful trak great cover thanks

  • brilliant best version... SINEAD LOHAN is the best female singer in ireland and would want to record more

  • Comment removed

  • I'm an unconditional fan of Bob Dylan but this version beats any other ! Incredible beautiful band and... what a voice ! Played it 7 times in a row.

  • @MrALF423 And, on top of it all, she is so impossibly doll-like pretty... Have you seen the vid to 'Whatever It Takes'? Her eyes are so blue you could drown.

  • @MrALF423 I have to agree with you....I can't stop playing it

  • ...soothing moments...like it a lot!

  • I listened to this all the time when i was a little girl!

  • Great version! And I'm a desperate fan of the Dylan version as well.

  • "There's no use in trying...."

Tell me that it isn't true... (PLEASE!)

  • @lenahjonsson ;-D

  • @8733hans And what kind of an answer is that??????

  • @lenahjonsson Noone is better than you...

  • @8733hans Meaning -????

  • @lenahjonsson Meaning that if you're truly happy with yourself you've no one else to compete with - there's no one else in the race. The song questions that idea cynically though, and it's obvious that the subject of the song - 'Ramona' - would be happier if she was in any other circumstance but her own. It's a man telling a woman that she's fooling herself that she's happy, but in the end he admits that she could be doing the same thing for him some day. Everything passes; everything changes.

  • @lenahjonsson

about the meaning of the song:

It is believed it is written for Joan Baez (wiki), in time of hippie movement, Bob, however never wanted to be a part of it ("deep inside I know there is no help I can bring"). Jan used to go on tours and drag along Bob when he was not famous, but he never called her up when he got the fame. Joan continued to strongly support hippies even after Bob and her had split up.

Thats about it... truth... only Bob knows what he meant! :)

  • @lenahjonsson I think it just means that some things are a waste of time worrying about and you will be happier not bothering with them. As in, just take things easy - if everyone did that then the world'd be a lot less hassle.

  • Amazing! Far different from Dylan's own rushed hushed emotionless new & improved pseudo-Dylanesque near-style...oh OOPS! did I dis THE MAN?? Too bad! This lady is terrific! Also Love Joan Baez's version, but cannot find one on here...

  • shit why cant i hear it ??????

  • I saw this and thought, this girl has some head on her shoulders with lyrics like that. Then I found out it was a Bob Dylan cover... Then I thought, this angel of a human is really appreciating and understanding and covering that shit beyond Bob Dylan himself, and I thought, this girl has some head on her shoulders. Was looking for 'You're In My Love' but got this instead and I am at least as happy as I would have been. Sinead, what the hell are you doin these days?

  • sinead lohan has to start recording again.... there are no words to describe her voice brilliant, unique.. are just a few....

  • Great version..Thank you for sharing it!

  • i heard this first and then purchased the album version.........this live version is far superior............beautiful

  • Oooooh!!!! this is good, this is very good.

  • Sadly she has not released but two albums.. Haunting voice.. great messages.. she seems to have disappeared since the birth of her child..

  • I like this version. From a very talented singer. Talent of her type makes me proud to be irish.

  • Great one= cheers from Brooklyn.

  • Absolutely love this, thanks for posting, she has the most beautiful haunting voice, could listen for ever xx

  • Tony Capstick did a great version

  • Much prefer this version to the original!! =]

    Caroline XOXO

  • Very beautifully sung. The emotions almost like that of Bob Dylan's. She will go places with this kind of sing. She has even prompted me to learn this song.. All the best to Sinéad.

  • I first heard this song in the 60's when my big brother arived home with "Another side of Bob Dylan". I hated the album at first as he kept playing "Ramona" and "My back pages" over and over. Thats well over 40 years ago, my brother has long since passed away God be good to him but this album did finally get inside me and introduced me to Dylan something that has helped me through manys the bad night. Must say Lohan version is by far the best I've ever come across thanks for the post and memory

  • very good , beautiful singer

  • Wow......maybe the best voice I have ever heard. At least on this cover......iof a great Dylan song.....she kills it! Her voice makes me melt. Wow.

  • :°O

  • sinead has what no one has in this song song ?

    PASSION :)

  • my fav irish singer even more than sinead oconner

  • Sineads here delivers a truly wonderful experience to the listener and it is a pity that we will not continue to experience this majestic voice in the context of other delightful lyrics. It would be beneficial for all if someone could identify a song which would do justice to her talents. Her interpretation of this lyric here inspires with its grandeur and so, as a folk singer she is sublime. Pity us who talentless are left without her . Sinéad, please record again.

  • @dzc80 Since England and Ireland are neighbors (and aren't bombing each other in recent decades) then I suggest: 'Vincent Black Lightening 1952'.. written and recorded in the early 90s by Richard Thompson. Cool lyrics and she's certainly got the accent to get away with it.. also doesn't appear she minds dedicated 'word for word' covers.. although she might be obliged on that one to rearrange it in light of her gender or flip the grammar into the 2nd person eyeing the protagonist.. whatever.

  • if anyone knows how to find a copy of the entire concert - please email me. yes, this means you!

  • Did you ever find where you could get the entire concert?

  • It's haunted me ever since I first heard it on BBC radio.

  • Sinéad deuit en dro mar plij. mankañ a ra bepred ho mouezh d'an holl.

  • Ooah yeah!

  • She just adds so much depth and meaning to this track, just wish she would get back to what she is so good at singing, she has such a beautiful voice

  • that song could last 10- 20 mins and it wouldn't bother me one bit, Such an angelic sound.

  • @danielc121162 ohhh really 10-20 mins? what a warrior u are, holding out for so long

  • @danielc121162 I am so right with ya

  • I can imagine the intensity of he sadness of her band-mates, who played so well here, on learning that she was leaving the stage.

  • I first heard this song on the BBC CD Storytellers, and I've loved this version ever since .... what a beautiful rendition of another great Dylan song.

  • I nearly always prefer original versions - but this is an exception: It's absolutely beautiful - makes my eyes water every time!

  • I grew up in the Army with the sounds of Bob Dylan in the mid 1960's, listening to it in Germany, and then in Vietnam. I have to say this sweet, sweet girl, Sinéad Lohan, sure brings it, sings it, leads it HOME.

  • Definitely the best version ever of this song.

  • absolutely beautiful...brilliant

  • by far the best version of this song

  • The gal's got soul!

  • Plac'h koant, kannerez mad, n'eo ket kalz a dra gwelloc'h!

  • I can't stop listening to this. I love the Dylan version, including the one from Newport '64, but this stands on its own. She does this thing that opera singers do, where suddenly the volume / intensity goes up to amazing levels and depths...

  • I love the way she sings this song. I tend to prefer originals but not this time.

  • This is so amazing ... it takes me away somewhere!

  • wow, it's even better than dylan version, imo, and i LOVE dylan

  • She is lovely- wow her voice

  • please sinead come back

  • this song reminds me of a family summer holiday in france! love this song..... class.... ode to dylan great lyrics Ms Lohan

  • Goes to show you the power of Dylan's lyrics, which has even the younger generation sharing his visions & songs.

  • In this clip we are caressed with wave after wonderful wave of beautifully sensual expression exemplifying the potential of honey sweet vocal delivery of a classic Dylan lyric. How simply beautiful this combination is.

  • heard this on radio 2 a few years back took me a while to find but glad i did its a wonderful song fantastically sang

  • I assume bryan adams robbed this tune for Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman

  • This is a class version. I hope she makes a comeback

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder, having given up the stage, if she ever takes a moment to recall this performance.

  • Beautiful voice. I don't hear the alleged similarity to Amy Macdonald's voice, but it doesn't matter, I am glad to have found this :)

  • Comment removed

  • To my surprise, I found that I liked this better than Bob Dylan's version. I checked this out because someone said it was good but I really did not expect to love it like I do. Congrats, Ms. Lohan. Wow.

  • Where has Sinead gone off to?

  • awful. ruined. ysf

  • For me this is now the definitive version of this great Dylan song

  • i love this version of this song pure magic

  • Great version of Dylan's done by an Irish beauty!

  • Das ist der beste Song von Sinead Lohan, den ich bis jetzt von ihr gehört habe. SChade das die Quali nicht ganz astrein ist. Wo kann man diesen Song downloaden ?

  • hier....google mal nach free youtube to mp3 converter.....!

  • Habe ich gemacht, Danke schön !!!

  • OK, it is working again.. great! Don't know why it stopped, cheers anyway.

  • wow! beautiful

  • Yep, same problem at same spot

  • Played all the way through on mine.

Cleared memory cache and rechecked - still played all the way through!

    It's a mystery!

  • played perfectly for me, as well. It would break my heart if it didn't.

  • Deadly, Mikey, Dublin..

  • Every time I play the clip it always stops / hangs at 2.04 while previously it played all the way through. Anyone else with this prob? This version is beautiful.

  • hey jimbo this song was also on "Sult Spirit of the music" google it you can buy it online

  • Thanks for posting this.Sinead done a great job of this excellent Dylan song.

  • Heard this on the radio driving into Dublin at 1 AM a couple of weeks ago, then spent the next 10 days hitting at least 15 record stores in 10 cities to try to find the CD it came off. Half the people said they got it in from time to time, but didn't have it then. Back in Vancouver now, I checked HMV today and they didn't even have it on their computer system for ordering. So now I'm listening to it here for about the twentieth time. Jimbo
