The anti-Church Indeed. It appears in 1054 and caused the first great schism. Then other anti-Church events spawned the reformation in reaction, becoming protestants. Ironically, then the effect of Protestantism spawned yet another anti-church movement from in the church post Vatican II. Perhaps if the entire church returned to pre-1054 beliefs and practices, perhaps then all those professing faith in the Risen Christ could come home to the Church Christ built with the Apostles.
Bible in the first place (because the church now isn't the physical/metaphysical mind of the original authors) so that I can better explain truth to people unsure of our faith's truth? This is in ref. to one friend in particular that believes (and it's true) that you give one verse to 20 people, and all will pull a different theory from it. Simply saying "I'm right" when everyone says it, is hardly enough. What would you say to prove the church's interpretation on every scripture, to be true?
@xxFairestxx First, yes the Church IS the mind of the original authors because she is protected by the Holy Spirit! That is right there in the Bible. I would also urge, as I have urged people here and elsewhere, to read the very first Christians and their writings and to follow the trail of history. It reveals the truth. Finally, the Bible is NOT the foundation of Christianity - the Church is. That is important, and it seems to be something you are implicitly accepting the opposite of.
@SaintMichaelsMedia Any particular Christians in mind to begin reading at, I'd appreciate it. And I understand and completely believe that the Church is the foundation, but relating to somebody who doesn't is difficult without sounding like all of the other religious fanatics out in the world. I can't simply say, "I'm right, and I know I am" because that's what everyone else says to people looking for truth. So I gotta BACK IT UP :) And I can better do that now, thank you:)
Michael, I'm an 19 year old Catholic, and I have been raised and have taken it upon myself to know my faith very well. I love your videos and really appreciate what you do for our faith. I have a question though, you go to any "christian" and many will have different interpretations of what very important scriptures mean. Due to translations and such things over the centuries, there is always question of what interpretations are actually correct. What can you say besides the church wrote the
What is this nonsense? Is this man a sedevacantist or SSPX? Vatican II was an ecumenical council where papal authority was exercised infallibly. This is absurd. I am tired of these so-called "traditional" catholics who bash the mass of Paul VI.
@Pilatocus28 Perhaps if you actually, you know, listened when you watched the video (or maybe even watched the video) and read the comments, and watched some of our other videos, you would realize just how ironically foolish your comments are :)
@Matthew23and9 Yes, and praying using the words of Scripture is not VAIN repetition. He does not say to avoid repetition (in fact, He specificaly tells us to pray using specific words, and prays Himself using the same words again) but rather vain repetition.
@Matthew23and9 Where does it say NOT to pray those prayers?
The Bible does not say to post on YouTube promoting Christ, but people do it. And people pray the prayers the Holy Spirit gives us in Biblical verses to honor Jesus Christ and His Mother.
@SAM135073 Wow - you obviously haven't read the Bible; where Jesus and Saint Paul call other men "Father" and where Jesus specifically gives men the power to forgive sins.
Perhaps if you are going to pretend to be a Christian, it might be a good idea to read the Bible?
@SaintMichaelsMedia Protestants do appear aware that the Apostles held the power of forgiveness of sins since it was granted by Christ Himself. However, they believe that only them and no one else was ever granted this ability, thus their condemnation of the Catholic view on the confessional.
Additionally, some extreme fundamentalists believe that the confession was the creation of ancient paganism and thus adopted by the Vatican.
As a catholic, I can very much see these changes. Why has our attendance gone down so much? Its for all the reasons in this video. Christ tells us that he wanted his church united as One body. Well, you are not quoting Saint Paul; he never says that. The words "faith alone" appear in the Bible ONCE; Saint James says, and I quote, "not saved by faith alone".

@SaintMichaelsMedia Good work, great to see men of the faith actively teaching and using common sense and logic to dispell many Protestant myths which theyve used to fuel their flawed theology. @mknghbrs010 St Paul never said justification by faith alone. Luther intentionally put in the word "alone" in there to justify in an attempt to validate his own theology. In fact, the only place in the Bible where the words "faith alone" appear', the words "not by" are right in front of it! (James 2:24). Firstly, those figures are massively exagerated - the Vatican has an anual budget of $300million or so.
Secondly, the Catholic Church gives more to charity than ANY other group in the world.
Thirdly, why are these people wasting time complaining? They should be giving all their money to the poor! Oh, wait - they don't. They don't BELIEVE this - they are just wanting to attack you.
Now that you mentioned that, you reminded me of an Argentinian friend I had. He once said to me, "the Vatican has so much money. If they sold all the priciest belongings they have, they could feed half of Africa"

I think he took it out of context. Indeed salvation is not possible outside the church, yet our human understanding of God's mercy is very limited. >> Am I right in saying you love the beauty of the Vatican II documents, but you hate the way it has been implemented??
Love and hate are perhaps inaccurate words - but, broadly speaking, yes. Vatican II is a Council of the Church. To reject it is schism. To take it and mis-use it to spread lies is heresy. Both are damnable offenses.
I can't correct you when you don't make a statement - you asked a question :)
>> are you a sedevacantist or a traditionalist?
Neither. Everyone at Saint Michael's Media is a faithful Catholic loyal to the Church and Magisterium. We are not sedevacantists, soi-dissant "traditionalists" or any other sort of schismatic or heretic.
We are traditional in that we are loyal to 2000 years of Catholicism - ALL 2000 years, NOT merely the stuff that came before Vat2!
>> that video seemed as you guys are traditionalists and don't like Vatican II.
We are traditionalists - in that we stick to ALL Catholic traditions.
We accept Vatican II because it is an eccumenical Council of the Church and to not accept it would be heresy. Vatican II changed nothing about the doctrines of the Church.
What we dislike is what many people SAY is Vatican II, not what Vatican II actually IS.
The Catholic Church has seen remarkable growth in Asia, even in China. How can it be doing poorly? We are at least united and can trace our history to Christ, his 'rock' St Peter and our first pope St Linus whom St Peter himself appointed as leader of the fledgling Christian community in AD 66. Martin Luther threw out several books of the Bible to support his erroneous theory 'justification by faith alone'.. His German Bible was completely different from the canon. Christ is the only judge
That is true my brother in Christ, the Church has been under attack here in the United States for way too long, and the battle is being lost. We even have politicians who claim to be catholic but say the church is wrong in its teachings.
But fear not, the church is booming and gaining power in other regions such as Africa and Asia. Glory to God in the Highest, and peace be to you!
Yep! The Catholic church has a very powerful influence here in the Philippines, the 3 o'clock/divine mercy prayer is played daily on the most watched TV channel, and just this monday, a TV series just started regarding a Catholic monastery fighting off a corrupt politician, with an orphaned miracle healing boy as the protagonist
This explains why the Catholic church is doing so poorly, and Resonates with other churches in North America. Unfortunately, there is a great explosion of people coming to Christ around the globe in other countries. This is a North american problem, not a church fallout problem
I think he meant that unfortunately many people do not seem to be coming to Christ in the United States, whereas they seem to be coming to Him in other countries.
>> At the end of your audio podcast why are you saying "The Holy Spirit needs to take you out back to the woodshed and teach you a couple of lessons"?
It was just a phrase Mike used in one of the programs - and we thought it was cool and funny, so we put it at the end as a tag!
Check out Father John Corapi. Also read Supper of the Lamb. Also How The Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Dr. Thomas Woods. Have YOU read this letter?! Someone didn't like what they heard or didn't like they way they had to live so they left. YOU sir, are a heretic! Tell me why there are so many protestant churches then and ONE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH?! "The gates of hell will not prevail against it."-Jesus
The biggest problem with Catholicism is Catholics. I studied Church history and the catechism because I live in area that is 85% Catholic. I'm an Evangelical Baptist and counsel people with addictions. I do NOT try to convert Catholics, but rather push them to be GOOD Catholics. Most have very little understanding of their own religion and when they learn they disagree with much of it. You guys have got to clean up your own house before you even attempt to be successful at Apologetics!
With all due respect Sir, I grew up a very ardent Baptist! So, for you to point the finger at us Catholics, is humorous. I can't recall the amount of times, at many churches I attended, I encountered fake Christians. Who came to church drunk, or just came because it would look bad if they didn't.
I came for the truth, and for Christ's true church. I didn't come for community and parish members. Maybe you should do the same, and worry about your own faith.
The problem with your statement here, is the Pious way in which you state it. Again, you're talking to a former baptist, so you can forget trying to tell me all of this "oh we're so well read, and so well behaved." nonsense. Because the reality of that is quite the opposite.
Our Catholic faith, has it warts, and it's scars. But the fact of the matter is, we are the one True faith. And if you're coming to mass for anything else but The Truth! Then, I question your devotion, and desire for Christ
Why are those people sitting there in that building? Don't they know they just need to change within, to repent from sin so they can be filled with light, -to belive and do what Jesus instructs us to do?
>> Why are those people sitting there in that building?
Because they want to learn something about the Church that Jesus Christ founded?
>> Don't they know they just need to change within, to repent from sin so they can be filled with light, -to belive and do what Jesus instructs us to do?
You don't JUST need to change within; you need to change WITHOUT as well. Jesus tells us to eat His flesh and drink His blood; that is a command. Only within the Catholic Church can you do that!
Once people hear Catholicism explained from a scriptural standpoint (and understand the error of Luther's Sola Fide), it's hard to doubt that the Church is truly sanctified by God. Listen to Scott Hahn, a former anti-Catholic.
I'm so imperfect and sinful. But I never use it as an excuse for changing to an easier belief system that will soothe my conscience, because there is no escaping the solid theology of the Catholic Church.
I hope you'll keep me in your prayers and God bless you.
Eight years ago, I left the Catholic Church for a while and believed what the anti-catholic fundamentalists were saying about the Catholic Church. I have since come home, but now, my sorrow for leaving the Church has now turned into anger toward those who are destroying the faith. You seem to be saying the same thing my long since deceased grandmother was harping about when I was too ignorant and rebellious to understand. It's all starting to make sense. This is very enlightening.
I am 47 years old and it is all starting to make sense to me. There was nothing wrong with Vatican II.... Liberalism and disobedience even has infected the clergy and theologians and has ultimately destroyed Catholic education. This is fascinating. This seems to be what Deacon Dr. Bob McDonald was speaking of in his book "The Great Apostasy"
i was wondering how long are you guys gonna keep that apolagetics dvd on sale for.. im still in my last year of school so i cant really afford it but id like to buy it next year
>> how long are you guys gonna keep that apolagetics dvd on sale for
All of our DVDs and so forth will remain on sale for just as long as we are capable of selling them . . . so, until we die, or until we get dragged off to the modern version of the Circus Maximus!
I guess I have no reason to think Mary Magdalene was Jesus' WIFE, but I HAVE been interested in the historical discussion of whether or not she was a PROSTITUTE and whether or not she was a LOVED AND HONORED disciple of Christ.
>> whether or not she was a PROSTITUTE and whether or not she was a LOVED AND HONORED disciple of Christ.
Well, there is no evidence in the Bible to suggest she was a prostitute, and it explicitly says that Christ loved her (although there is no suggestion of sexual or erotic love there - He loved her as He loved His other disciples).
Yeah, that's how I've been reading it. It's myth that she was the prostitute Christ saved from stoning, and yes, she was loved, evidenced further by his appearance to HER when He rose from the dead.
>> It's myth that she was the prostitute Christ saved from stoning
It's one of many traditions - and the Latin Church has traditionally considered Magdalena, the woman caught in adultery and Mary of Bethany to have been the same woman. But the Bible never says such explicitly, of course.
I have to humbly disagree. I mean something so important as the one true church, if our eternal salvation is on the line than I would think God would have not left room for choices. As long as you except Jesus as your personal savior and admit your need for him in your life as the only way to God, I believe that is the true path. For all have sinned and fallen short and that includes all faiths too. We need to all come together on the common ground of Jesus Christ and what he did for us.
> if our eternal salvation is on the line than I would think God would have not left room for choices.
So, God would not allow us free-will? Or to sin? Because sinning is a choice.
>> As long as you except Jesus as your personal savior
So, let me make sure I understand you - you say that God would not leave room for choices when it comes to Churches, yet we have to choose Jesus? That is logically inconsistent.
I am not religious so i don't know for sure but i know many people who are and they all say one thing. Jesus was Jewish, and he didn't found ANY religion his followers did. Explain that.
>> Jesus was Jewish, and he didn't found ANY religion his followers did.
Well, I can explain that very easily - it's just plain wrong. Jesus founded Christianity by telling people to worship Him, eat His flesh and drink His blood, and by changing the laws of the Mosaic Covenant and creating the New and Everlasting Covenant. The New Testament is very clear on the fact that Jesus founded a religion. That religion is the Catholic Church.
Something must be done to fix this heresy. What can be more damaging to the Church? Protestant roadside preachers claiming we are the anti-christ, or heretical hierarchy actually making us LOOK like one.
Jesus Christ we need your guiding light, save us from the gates of Hell we beg you!
By sharing in the Eucharistic meal, the Church teaches that Catholics are fulfilling John 6:53: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you."
While many Catholic prophecies have predicted this, it is important to not read too much into this.
The Church has ALWAYS been attacked from within (see Judas). And don't forget all the early heresies which were more often than not, begun or carried on by bishops.
So yes, the Church is attacked from within. But don't stress today's attacks to such a point that it gets into end of the world stuff. No one knows when the end will be except God alone.
What happened to the Protestant church. Let's see... about 76 divisions... all pro-death by the way... what else? Oh yes, the KKK, protesting allowing Catholics into America, marches to not allow Jews to take shelter in America during WWII. Wow.
LOL again,kiddo500,we Protestants do not have to argue,we sit back and see with amazement how God's word fulfills itself. You must know God for yourself."Study(you or me)to show thyself approved...." We who can read need no interpreter but the Holy Spirit.May God bless you.

Here's a few other things that have been "misinterpreted".
- Masses should still be said in Latin, at least partially
-Mass 'ad orientam' or 'versus populum' with crucifix and candles
-kneeling for Communion
-Communion on the tongue, not the hand; this was ONLY for particular dioceses
-Female altar servers; this practice was ONLY supposed to be allowed in situations where there were no males.
-Still, no meat on Fridays; only if another penitential act is performed can this be omitted.

Love and hate are perhaps inaccurate words - but, broadly speaking, yes. Vatican II is a Council of the Church. To reject it is schism. To take it and mis-use it to spread lies is heresy. Both are damnable offenses.

>> Correct me if I'm wrong
I can't correct you when you don't make a statement - you asked a question :)
>> are you a sedevacantist or a traditionalist?
Neither. Everyone at Saint Michael's Media is a faithful Catholic loyal to the Church and Magisterium. We are not sedevacantists, soi-dissant "traditionalists" or any other sort of schismatic or heretic.
We are traditional in that we are loyal to 2000 years of Catholicism - ALL 2000 years, NOT merely the stuff that came before Vat2!

I see .. I asked because that video seemed as you guys are traditionalists and don't like Vatican II.
- Christus vobiscum.
SwordsmanOfFaith 3 years ago
>> that video seemed as you guys are traditionalists and don't like Vatican II.

TroyeHaryanto 3 years ago
>> our first pope St Linus
The first pope was Saint Peter, of course. St. Linus was his successor.
The Church is doing poorly in the West, which is where this video is mostly directed.

That is true my brother in Christ, the Church has been under attack here in the United States for way too long, and the battle is being lost. We even have politicians who claim to be catholic but say the church is wrong in its teachings.
But fear not, the church is booming and gaining power in other regions such as Africa and Asia. Glory to God in the Highest, and peace be to you!
job1201204 2 years ago
Yep! The Catholic church has a very powerful influence here in the Philippines, the 3 o'clock/divine mercy prayer is played daily on the most watched TV channel, and just this monday, a TV series just started regarding a Catholic monastery fighting off a corrupt politician, with an orphaned miracle healing boy as the protagonist
tonykoa 3 years ago
This explains why the Catholic church is doing so poorly, and Resonates with other churches in North America. Unfortunately, there is a great explosion of people coming to Christ around the globe in other countries. This is a North american problem, not a church fallout problem

>> You guys have got to clean up your own house before you even attempt to be successful at Apologetics!
Very true - this is why our efforts are mostly directed at fallen-away and bad Catholics
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago
With all due respect Sir, I grew up a very ardent Baptist! So, for you to point the finger at us Catholics, is humorous. I can't recall the amount of times, at many churches I attended, I encountered fake Christians. Who came to church drunk, or just came because it would look bad if they didn't.
I came for the truth, and for Christ's true church. I didn't come for community and parish members. Maybe you should do the same, and worry about your own faith.
PlainOldKris 3 years ago

Johnatelllo 3 years ago
>> Why are those people sitting there in that building?
Because they want to learn something about the Church that Jesus Christ founded?
>> Don't they know they just need to change within, to repent from sin so they can be filled with light, -to belive and do what Jesus instructs us to do?
You don't JUST need to change within; you need to change WITHOUT as well. Jesus tells us to eat His flesh and drink His blood; that is a command. Only within the Catholic Church can you do that!
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago

This is very enlightening.
mm3861 3 years ago
I am 47 years old and it is all starting to make sense to me. There was nothing wrong with Vatican II.... Liberalism and disobedience even has infected the clergy and theologians and has ultimately destroyed Catholic education. This is fascinating. This seems to be what Deacon Dr. Bob McDonald was speaking of in his book "The Great Apostasy"

I guess I have no reason to think Mary Magdalene was Jesus' WIFE, but I HAVE been interested in the historical discussion of whether or not she was a PROSTITUTE and whether or not she was a LOVED AND HONORED disciple of Christ.
DRLIT 3 years ago
>> whether or not she was a PROSTITUTE and whether or not she was a LOVED AND HONORED disciple of Christ.
Well, there is no evidence in the Bible to suggest she was a prostitute, and it explicitly says that Christ loved her (although there is no suggestion of sexual or erotic love there - He loved her as He loved His other disciples).
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago
Yeah, that's how I've been reading it. It's myth that she was the prostitute Christ saved from stoning, and yes, she was loved, evidenced further by his appearance to HER when He rose from the dead.
DRLIT 3 years ago
>> It's myth that she was the prostitute Christ saved from stoning
It's one of many traditions - and the Latin Church has traditionally considered Magdalena, the woman caught in adultery and Mary of Bethany to have been the same woman. But the Bible never says such explicitly, of course.
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago
I have to humbly disagree. I mean something so important as the one true church, if our eternal salvation is on the line than I would think God would have not left room for choices. As long as you except Jesus as your personal savior and admit your need for him in your life as the only way to God, I believe that is the true path. For all have sinned and fallen short and that includes all faiths too. We need to all come together on the common ground of Jesus Christ and what he did for us.
utubeuser1971aok 3 years ago
Your logic is fundamentally flawed.
> if our eternal salvation is on the line than I would think God would have not left room for choices.
Jesus founded ONE Church - not many
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago
>> We need to all come together on the common ground of Jesus Christ and what he did for us.
Absolutely. Jesus Christ died for us and founded a single Church and said that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood.
That Church is the Catholic Church. That flesh and blood is the Eucharist - only found in the Catholic Church.
Absolutely - we should all come together. Onward! Home to Rome!

I am not religious so i don't know for sure but i know many people who are and they all say one thing. Jesus was Jewish, and he didn't found ANY religion his followers did. Explain that.
Blazefire116 3 years ago
>> Jesus was Jewish, and he didn't found ANY religion his followers did.
Well, I can explain that very easily - it's just plain wrong. Jesus founded Christianity by telling people to worship Him, eat His flesh and drink His blood, and by changing the laws of the Mosaic Covenant and creating the New and Everlasting Covenant. The New Testament is very clear on the fact that Jesus founded a religion. That religion is the Catholic Church.
SaintMichaelsMedia 3 years ago
Something must be done to fix this heresy. What can be more damaging to the Church? Protestant roadside preachers claiming we are the anti-christ, or heretical hierarchy actually making us LOOK like one.
Jesus Christ we need your guiding light, save us from the gates of Hell we beg you!
Childinfaith 3 years ago
By sharing in the Eucharistic meal, the Church teaches that Catholics are fulfilling John 6:53: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you."

Is it not said in catholic prophecy that this would happen, the church would be attacked from within?
Paddy234 4 years ago 2
While many Catholic prophecies have predicted this, it is important to not read too much into this.
The Church has ALWAYS been attacked from within (see Judas). And don't forget all the early heresies which were more often than not, begun or carried on by bishops.
So yes, the Church is attacked from within. But don't stress today's attacks to such a point that it gets into end of the world stuff. No one knows when the end will be except God alone.
SaintMichaelsMedia 4 years ago
Ignorance of the Catholic faith is the problem. So now it isn't just Protestants that are in false, but fellow Catholics that deny the truth.

What happened to the Protestant church. Let's see... about 76 divisions... all pro-death by the way... what else? Oh yes, the KKK, protesting allowing Catholics into America, marches to not allow Jews to take shelter in America during WWII. Wow.
