@langhard1 Rutten looked pretty good in Pancrase where grappling was limited by their rules and he was victorious in street fights that he had in Japan against US marines. However, he sucked in all 3 "real" MMA fights he had stateside. Shilt is 1-1 in UFC so we don't know how good he really is. I agree that Alister and Valentine are exellent MMA fighters. So tell me who else you think is good? I can name at least 25 Dutch kickboxers while you mention only 2 Dutch MMA fighters. See my point?
@rainriders That has everything to do with promotion. Americans have very few contacts in the Netherlands, and the entire UFC was geared to promote bjj groundfighting, with rules to favour and protect fighters using that style.
If you go around local gyms, you'll find guys good at freefight a plenty. Freefight is much like mma, except some ground£ has been forbidden so you can't hide in the groundfight as easy.
But the massive kickboxing scene is pressing freefight to the background, too.
@rainriders Bogdan christea...One of the greatest upcoming talents of holland amsterdam...he is awesome ground fighter...lightweight...impossible to submit....check out greatest grappling match ever
@lorrenzopicozzi Grazie, I remember him. He would be matched up well with Jae Hyun So from Korea. I don't think they are ready for big stage yet.
Having flexible joints is a very nice thing but I think Ogdan needs to bulk up a bit more because his lack of strength is not gonna give him anymore option than being a grappling dummy.
It's great to see such a young Peter Aerts in high quality video. Early K-1 one was amazing: Branko, Aerts, Hoost, Satake, Hug...amazing stuff

@Blahb27 Interesting. But even when 2H2H was running shows regularly, only prominent fighters coming out of Holland were strikers.
