  • At pro MLG gaming events there T.V size is 20 or 22" ONLY! Mandatory.

    Why?

Because it allows the professional gamers to have better peripheral vision. When compared to a 42" T.V you loose allot of that, in this case,A smaller is best for a excellent gaming experience.

  • This video is true to a point. FACT: I bought the best rated Panasonic Plasma 50" in 2009. Made the front cover of consumer reports I believe the magazine was. anyways, after hours of call of duty, I got the burn in "DOMINATION" on the bottom left corner. Ultimately the fault is Not Panasonic or plasma itself but the queers who make these video games who could care less about y our tv or your money. If they had a brain they would give the option to take down icons and radar maps that stay on tv.

  • @jrowarrior So be careful when you play games to long, switch to a tv station every couple hours or so to prevent what happened to me. I should not though that the burn in that I got "DOMINATION" is still very faded and only noticeable when the screen is white which you ever have white on your screen, so not a big deal for me but it pissed me off when I first saw it. Just be careful with plasmas but hands down they DOMINATE LCD LED REFRESH RATE PICTURE QUALITY ETC ETC ETC PERIOD!

  • I have a panasonic plasma and play games for hours at a time. Not once have I noticed any image retention.

  • Plasma higher refresh rates,,

  • تصدقون الال سي دي خياس اخذ لي ليد احسسن لي , ..!!

  • @TheShneor ههههه

وش أخذت ؟؟ أبغى تجربتك أنا خلاص بأشتري واحد فيهم بس محتار

  • So which is better to use as a computer monitor/ TV? In a couple months I'm looking forward to buying my first big screen HDTV, but because my bedroom doesn't have a ton of space, and I have room for only one that has to do double duty. Which would you say to get that would work great for both uses.

  • @Prence Many Plasma models will not offer a VGA input because they do not recommend using this type of display as a computer monitor. While image retention (burn-in) is less of an issue than it ever was, you can still burn-in an image if you are not careful. Because computer monitors often display the same desktop image, there is a greater likelihood of burning the desktop icons into the screen. • @crutchfieldtv Ah. ok, This would be my first bigscreen TV I've bought, Don't know anything about plasmas. Right now I have my directv hd box hooked to my 21" computer monitor, it works but I want something better. Thanks for the info. :)

  • I got a shit called crt.

  • Anyone have feedback on using the Samsung PN51D8000 for gaming? Thanks.

  • @Donarudo88 The 51" D8000 plasma is one of the very best models on the market today. It will do an excellent job for any display purpose, including gaming. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Do you know much about the PS51D550 51" Samsung Plasma ?

    Like with gaming and quality

  • @Aaron2k46 Not sure about any "PS" models but we've offered the PN51D550 for almost a year now with great results. The model gets good reviews on our website and we've had few, if any, returns. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv any feedback on TC-P46st30 panasonic 3d plasma

  • @king6188 While we did not offer the 46" size, the 50" was a great model that garnered good reviews on the Crutchfield website. At this time, the “ST30” series has been discontinued so you may have difficulty finding one from an authorized retailer. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv thank you very much for the reply, i was able to order one today from amazon new. may i ask, if you know. how come it was discountined? was there anything wrong?

  • @king6188 All models are eventually discontinued. In most cases, the manufacturer is coming out with a new line of models to replace the previous line. HTH!--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv okay, thank you very much! i have 1 more question, my deliver will get here in 3 days, i was told that i shouldnt open the delivery box because the plasma tv has to adjust to my house temperature or its going to crack. is this correct? but what if i want to turn it on just to make sure it works or if theres any issues what do i do? what if i turn it on for a couple of secs? thank you. by the way its 50-60 F in my house in the east coast

  • @king6188 Sorry, that makes very little sense. I can assure you there are no such instructions in the Panasonic owner's manual. If you purchased from an authorized retailer, you should be covered under their return policy for any damage or defects upon arrival. Beyond the retailer's return policy, you will be covered by Panasonic's warranty (1 year on parts & labor). HTH!--Crutchfield

  • @MrCarloszamora04 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. GoogleTV is a networking feature that allows you to access online content through your TV or blu-ray player. It has no effect on the picture performance and is not relevant when selecting a television model for gaming purposes. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • LCD LED fuck that way!

  • this video was very helpful. thanks a bunch!

  • I have a question. Wouldn't a 600Hz Plasma TV be better than a 60Hz LCD TV for gaming. If you use the higher refresh rate, with a good HDMI cable (silver plated for example), wouldn't your reaction time be better than players playing on a TV with slower refresh rate, thus giving you an edge over your opponents? I know there are many sides to this debate, but I feel that having a near infinite refresh rate with a plasma TV would be better than a TV that practically refreshes line by line. Help?

  • @EXITS66 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. The “600Hz” specification on plasma displays does not refer to the frames per second like the “120Hz” or “240Hz” specification of the LCD/LED models. The 600Hz is basically the individual plasma pixels flickering on and off at 600 times per second for more accurate color production. This is not a complete frame refresh 600 times per second. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Thanks, but now i need to know whats the best BRAND for a plasma?????comment back. Thanks.

  • @MrNumbaOnePlayer100 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. We like all of the manufacturers we offer: LG, Samsung, and Panasonic. Which is best? That’s a matter of personal preference. In our opinion, you cannot go wrong with any of the models/manufacturers we carry. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030—Crutchfield.

  • @crutchfieldtv Thanks for the response. HELPED*

  • Papa bear makes some very good points. Consistently good videos from this company...

  • A plasma almost works like a old school tv (almost no jagged edges), so if you have a ps3, use plasma tv, but if you have a x360 go for a 1920x1080 asus/samsung monitor or full hd tv with 100hz. But be aware of LCD with 100hz, a lot have motion technologie, it makes the image look unnatural (not the natural speed of 100hz, so avoid motion crap). So PS3=Plasma, no doubt about it. A lot of plasma's still burn in, it's impossible not to burn in, but you can turn contrast down, it avoids burn in.

  • I wonder if you could help me. I just had a 40" 60Hz LCD Samsung and traded it in because I wanted a 120Hz TV so I got a 43" 600Hz plasma Samsung but when I brought it home I found the picture very dark and it only displayed downscaled 1080p and games at only 60Hz. Right now I'm thinking of trading this one back in and getting either a 40" 120Hz LCD Sony Bravia or a 40" 120Hz LCD Samsung, or maybe I should keep my plasma right now? I use it mainly for gaming and some blu-ray.

    Thanks.

  • @WiggyPlease18 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. • I have samsung 32" LCD TV and have LG 42" 1080p Plasma TV.

both of them are great for gaming but honestly, if i wanna play some game with more dark color like "BATMAN Arkham Asylum", it's better look on plasma, but for games that have rich color like Angry Bird or THE SIMS 4, i better play it on LCD

  • @declaration963 That was actually good information!!! I'm trying to find a TV for gaming, choices, choices, choices!!!

  • @desamania it's depends on what kind of game you will play, if you play modern game such Modern Warfare (series), Battlefield (series) Gears of War (series), better choose plasma TV because modern games didn't contain rich color (for example, most place on SKYRIM is just too dark or too white) really good on plasma, but if you playing some classic games such Sonic The Hedgehog on Sega Genesis (and any kind of classic games) it's better in LCD since most of classic game is colorful

  • @declaration963 There's 42 inch Panasonic Plasma that has gotten great reviews all over, Imma go with that.

  • @desamania if you buy a Plasma TV, don't forget to "BURN IN" for at least 24 hours, so phosphor in the tube didn't make an IR (Image Retention) just googling it you'll know.

BTW, Panasonic VIERA TH-P42VT30G is one of the BEST plasma tv available on the market, contrast ratio 5.000.000 : 1, 600 Hz sfd, Full HD 1080p, and have RJ45 LAN port (it's internet tv), and the best feature is 3D Surround Picture (you can watch 3D movies)

  • what about input lag? which screens have low input lag?

    and backlight bleed?

  • @vassillioss Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. None of the models we offer suffer from input lag. I would caution against the LCD/LED models that offer the 120Hz or 240Hz frame rates as these models use additional processing that can cause a slight lag between the controller and display. If you opt for one of these models, I would be sure the faster frame rate feature is defeatable for your gaming sources. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • im torn between a 42' sanyo plasma HD tv..... and a 37' vizio LCD tv, they both cost the same..... i like the sanyo becuase its bigger but it only runs 720p..... and i like the vizio because it runs full 1080p HD but its a bit smaller, i wanna get it by friday... can you help me?

  • @GARNETarmy1984 Unless the screen is pretty large or you set with your nose to the tv you're not going to notice the difference between 720p and 1080p at all Id go with the sanyo especially if its going to be mainly for gaming

  • is 600 hz good for gaming??? will it make it look REALLY good???

  • When i play racing games on my plasma sometimes the speedometer stays on the screen when it's blank but goes away after 10-25 minutes. Is this screen burn in or can i keep on playing racing games on my tv and not damage it?

  • @drewgabriel50 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. It certainly sounds like burn-in from what you’ve described. I would definitely be careful and consult your owner’s manual or the manufacturer directly to make sure you aren’t doing any permanent damage. HTH!--Crutchfield

  • i own a plasma 42" 400 bucks new and its sick! best value

  • oh my god its such a hard decision led or plasma guys i need help, i want awesome colours but no lagg as i play cod mw3 battlefield 3 and forza 3 and outer games :P so is a led or a plasma better ty guys.

  • @thebsrz I play mw3 bf3 tooo I recommend plasma as it has not that much lag and the coulors are beatiful i got 1 at home trust me you would want to get plasma over led .. Actaully its not that big of a deal they are very similar

  • @thebsrz Ive just bought a 42" plasma Panasonic 3d tv. AMAZING! Plamas are the way to go in my opinion! I play on my xbox 360 and the colours are so good. Ive even done the 2d to 3d conversion on black ops and played online! WOW! ;)

I suggest Plasma over LED/LCD from owning both types. Plamas do make a slight buzzing sound but cant be heard with the sound on.

So buy a PLASMA you will be happy! ;)

  • @m4553y

For gaming it's a toss up. Do i take the superior motion of a plasma(Including that nasty dithering effect with the possibility of phospher trailing) or do i go for the beautiful bright and cleaner/crisper image of an LCD/LED which will instantly wow you for super colorful titles while putting up with that irritating motion blur which destroys motion

    detail in the process?

  • @Donatello97

Ya, I'm still torn between the two.

But there's no way I'm watching movies on an LCD or LED

so that basically rules that out. ;p

If only Plasma's could produce that surreal bright image,

or if only LCD's and LED's could produce the motion of a plasma.

Those 120hz and 240hz modes just increase input gaming lag.SO they're

useless to me, aside from adding that crappy soap opera video effect

for film. And sorry for the multiple posting, i thought it wasn't going through. ;p

  • @Donatello97 Iv'e only owned my plama for 3 days and love it for gaming. Iv'e tried 3d Blu Ray and standard Blu Ray movies and like you said you get superior motion on a plasma. Even on a standard DVD up-scaled!

LED/LCD are great tv's but i only have a 32" so upgraded tv's in my living room. It's in my bedroom now so i don't watch movies on it anymore.

Choosing between a LED/LCD and Plasma is like choosing between a xbox and a ps3. You normally prefer one or the other! ;)

  • @m4553y what about connecting pc to plasma is it ok ??

  • great info men, it helped me alot.

  • I heard that all games were built to run on 50Hz? if i buy a 600Hz plasma or a 100Hz LED tv how would i turn it to 50Hz? which is better for gaming? which is more responsive?! helppppp.

  • @StunnedMutha Sorry, but you’ve got some misinformation there. Most gaming consoles are designed to provide 60 frames per second (60Hz) to a video display. Most Plasma displays offer a native 60Hz frame rate which is a perfect match for most video sources (DVD, broadcast television, gaming consoles, etc.). LCD or LED/LCD models are available with 60Hz, 120Hz, and 240Hz frame rates, all of which are equally divisible by 60. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv So will a 100Hz LED or a 600Hz plasma be relatively alright even if the number is not divisible? Thanks for the reply!

  • @StunnedMutha Sorry for the delayed response. We’re not aware of any LCD models that offer 100Hz frame rates. There wouldn’t be much reason for it if there were. Plasmas do not offer 600 frames per second. The “600Hz” specification refers to the flickering of the plasma pixels, on and off, 600 times a second to retain the proper color. This feature is not “600 frames per second” as the specification might imply. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Not to worry, after doing a bit of research i bought a sony bravia 46" LED. thanks for the videos, they're helpful! :)

  • Dynex 55" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV or LG 50" 1080p Plasma HDTV? their the exact same price. Im going to use this tv for gaming but also need it for watching d movies...

  • @giggityglenn98 If the “Dynex” is a conventional LCD (w/ fluorescent backlighting), I would prefer almost any plasma display over it. LG is a quality manufacturer and should offer greater brightness and contrast than most conventional LCD displays. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • I didn't have enough space to add that modern Plasma displays, I believe, use 'orbiting' to reduce burn-in, which moves the entire image very, very slowly a few pixels to minimize the effect I described below.

I am curious to hear from anyone who has used the same plasma display for gaming for say, 5 years or more, and whether or not the display has any burn-in, or any significant overall reduction in brightness/contrast for that matter.

  • This clip is implying that burn-in only occurs if an image or screen is displayed nonstop for a continuous period of time. Burn-in is about ratio--certain pixels being lit way more often than the other pixels. On a CRT or plasma, ALL pixels are constantly fading out. Burn-in is when some pixels display the same color over and over instead of cycling between light/dark, such as with a HUD, and this happens over time. You don't have to leave one screen on for 48 hours for it to happen.

  • what year did the burn in not matter

  • one question do the new plasmas still put out alot of heat as mine is an older lg 42 and in the summer its a drag because of the heat I wanna go to a bigger 60-64 inch what would you recommend i think the reason as far as i can see as staying with plasmas is because of the price but i really worried about the heat from a big TV . ? what to do ?

  • @turner593 While Plasma displays do not generate a lot of heat, you will want to be sure not to block any ventilation openings in the chassis. Most PDP have a “Usage Temperature Range” between 32° and 104°F. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • One VERY important issue you left out. High refresh rate televisions such as plasma cause significant "ghosting effects" in 30fps or less games. They're definitely superior for 60fps games, but I know 30fps on plasma's cause "ghosting"

  • Plasma > LCD/LED

  • Im looking for an affordable, yet good quality LED, 37 inch for gaming. If a plasma works better for roughly the same price, then that would be good. Any specific models you can recommend? I've done research on brands, ect, but its pretty hard to make a decision.

  • @Mailrobot The smallest Plasma display we currently offer is 42”, so if you are looking for a 37” or smaller, you will have LCD and LED/LCD models to choose from. In the 37” size, the LG37LK450 model (LCD) and the 37LV3500 (LED) would be great values. You can find both models on the Crutchfield website and you can also call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Thanks! What do you think of the Vizio M370NV? Its cheaper, but I havent read good things about Vizio :\

  • Panasonic G10 is by far the best gaming tv, try it... burn bs leave your contrast and brightness below 70 for first 150 hrs of use and from there on your good on whatever settings.. very important is high transfer rate hdmi cable and of course isp

  • Panasonic G10 is by far the best gaming tv, try it... burn bs leave your contrast and brightness below 70 for first 150 hrs of use and from there on your good on whatever settings..

  • Plasmas= color burn Lcd's = no color burn

  • Go to AVS Forum for more real issues. Not all Plasma displays are what this guy says, some 2010-2011 PDPs still are susceptible to burn in.. worse, IR is is inevitable if you go for hardcore gaming.

1 thing's for sure. Plasmas barely have any INPUT LAG compared to LCD. W/c is more important if you're a professional gamer that relies on reflex.

How about mentioning ABL and Horizontal Line Bleed!? That's still prevalent among Plasmas and the most annoying "FEATURE" out there.

    Can't w8 4 OLED!

  • @tuberoako777 is the lag on an lcd substantial enough to make watching moves or playing games seem blurry? Would this still happen if there is a setting to turn down to 60hz?

  • @utahboy86 Hmmm I believe you are not talking about "Input Lag". You see, Input lag is a "delay" from the moment you press a button to the action you see on the screen.

Press X to jump in 00:01 second but your character jumps at 00:02 (just an example).

If you meant blurry by "juddering/ghosting/trailing/smearing".. LCD's are usually prone to this. They are much worse with LCDs than Plasma BUT this can be really subjective.

It is up to you to really find out. Goodluck! and NO LEMONS! :)

  • Respond to this video... I don't think there's an option to turn down the "Hz" but you can turn off "Dejuddering or Smoothing" in the TV's option (e.g. TruMotion with LG TVs). << Fake Interpolated frames when running 120hz.

  • I have to agree.. i have a plasma and I have fallen asleep on netflex.. highest settings.. for all of u who have netflex knows the background color is a strong RED color.. ive left it for a full 8 hours.. and the tv has not burned once.. i use my plasma as a computer monitor at times (gaming, surfing web) and ive had zero issues on burning the screen... GO WITH A PLASMA...!

  • Hi,

I have a really important question that I need to get off my chest. Is the myth behind 120Hz TV's causing input lag true??

  • @hakametal I wouldn’t call it a “myth” but it depends on who you ask. I have a 240Hz LED model and have no problems with lag when I’m gaming. Having said that; a lower quality set with slower processing might have lag issues. Your best bet would be to select a model that allows you to defeat or “turn off” the 120 or 240Hz processing when you’re gaming. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Would the 600hz plasma be the best tv for gaming rather than a good LED that does not go as high? And how much does the contrast ratio mean to how good the tv is.

  • @LifeFitness420 The 600Hz spec is recommended but is designed to address a specific issue with plasma displays and does not directly relate to the 120Hz or 240Hz frame rate of LCD/LED displays. The 600Hz subfield specification addresses an issue with the plasma pixels not holding their color for extended periods of illumination. When the pixels are turned on and off 600 times a second, they hold their colors much better. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • is there a video on utube showing a plasma tv displaying xbox gaming, i would like to see it in action before I purchase a plasma tv than hear myself say 'UH OH i made a mistake'

  • Hi, just about to buy a plasma tv for around £500, its a Panasonic and i'm questioning whether or not to get 3 year insurance on it. Would it be worth it? thanks.

  • @plonman1 Extended service plans are insurance that you will have a TV that will at least last the length of the warranty. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you, as some people have to have them and some people go without them. Feel free to give us a call for more assistance.

  • I currently game on an old ass 2003 toshiba 26 inch LCD. I don't think it even has HDMI lol but right now I use component with it and I'm fine.

So whats the best TV company to buy? Is there any TV that is 50 inches and up for less than $1000? I don't want the bad brands like Dynex or Insignia either I want Sony, Samsung, Toshiba or Panasonic the good companies. Wheres the best place to buy TV's? And again plasma, lcd, or led?

  • @YoMama844 I would say for you to check out the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST30 for that price point. It's a great looking TV that will do a great job with any source. Feel free to give us a call for additional assistance 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Eh I don't really want the 3d on the TV. Are there any LCD's or LED's for that same screen size and price without 3d? Its a good price for a plasma that size though.

  • @YoMama844 For the screen size you want within the budget you’ve provided, the Plasma will be your best bet. LCDs and particularly LEDs are great options but will be more expensive than Plasma in the larger screen sizes. Feel free to call for a personalized recommendation: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Hi I need your advice on my future purchase for a TV. I have an OLD bulky TV that I want to replace it with a flat screen TV to watch movies and play console games on. I found a Samsung 43" Plasma and I've heard some good things about Samsung, however it says on their product description that it's 720p as opposed to 1080p. Will this significantly affect the quality when I'm using the TV? The TV is currently at $500 excluding tax and I'm trying to buy it because my budget is around $500-$600

  • @Anime4lifeX7 1080p is the highest resolution display currently available in the consumer grade market. Many HD sources are produced in “1080” and will be “down scaled” for a 720p display. OTOH, the added pixels of a 1080p display make less of a difference on smaller screens. I generally recommend 1080p as a minimum for 46” and larger screens. For 43” and smaller, most people can’t tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • panasonic plasma X-series for gaming is awesome!

  • why my lcd picture go after what i do with the controller? please answer

  • He might be a salesman but let me tell you something 10 hours of EA SPORTS NHL 11 GAMING HUD WAS ENOUGHT TO BURN IN MY PLASMA g25 thats bullshit please revise your review of plasmas.... I did a non necessary BREAK IN of 400 hours..... even panasonic thought i was nuts , there's 0 warranty on burn in , image rention are on 100000% all plasmas thats a other fact i tested maybe 5 of them before buying the g25 , if you plan on gaming without energy bars , & be scared always buy a plasma

  • @hayabusafmw plasmas are 10x the best image quality you will find on the market & cheaper than lcd led tv but sadly............IR & BURN IN ARE A FACT & SADLY SALESMAN ARE STILL PUSHING IT FOR A SALE! AS IT CAN'T HAPPEN , IT WILL HAPPEN IT'S A MATTER OF TIME & CIRCOMSTANCE...... you better watch your kids wathing those 4:3 kids show all the time & wash the screen after each usage .... cause one day it will stay there

  • @hayabusafmw what do u mean by energy bars?

  • you spoke nothing of refresh rates, flicker, stuttering, when fast action gaming is involved. Does this issue not matter anymore?? Seems to me that burn-in and glare can be averted by a conscientious user whereas flicker or refresh rates cannot.

  • @jameswisecup 120Hz & 240Hz refresh rates for gaming can be detrimental. Most serious gamers find that120Hz and 240Hz processors can produce a little bit of latency between the controller and display. While the latency is fine for TV programs and movies, it can mean the difference between success and defeat when playing games. Although we recommend the faster refresh rates on the LCD/LED TVs for any application, you may want to make sure the feature is defeatable for your gaming sessions. HTH!

  • So which one is better??

  • Hello there its me again. I have two questions. The first one is what is the life expectancy on plasma tvs? What plasma tv would you recommend for gaming thats in the 42-55 inches range? I see that samsung offer good performance while retaining good values and design.

  • @psaeclipseMost plasma manufacturers are quoting around “100,000 Hour” panel life these days. Basically if you break that down to 8 hours a day (more than the average household), you’ll get over 34 years of life out of a plasma based on the projected panel life. All plasma displays are great for gaming. Just be sure to watch other content between gaming sessions as you do not want to burn the health/ammo meters into the screen. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030

  • so basically they still get the "image retention" pretty easy? will a "retained image" affect watching tv or playing a different game? .. how much time does it need to pass for a "image retention"? .. is it frequent in all new plasmas also? and basically to "whitewash it" you just need to leave the tv on on a black or white channel for a lot of time?

  • @puso82 the "Burn-In" or "Image Retention" is less of an issue than it ever has been. Most plasma manufacturers are using better quality phosphors that resist image retention. If you do happen to burn an image into the screen, each manufacturer has their own specific process for counteracting the effect. Of course, if you purchase from Crutchfield, our lifetime tech support will always be here to help you with any issues you encounter. Feel free to call for assistance: 800.315.0300--Crutchfield

  • Hi I just bought a panasonic plasma and I'm just wondering are the rumors true for the first hundred hours or so should put the brightness and contrast below 50% or is the plasma nowadays good to go right out of the box without setting anything. I plan on using it solely for gaming Thanks

  • @bbbeenn32

Plasmas are good to go right out of the box.

    Crutchfield.

  • @bbbeenn32 I am considering to buy a Panasonic ST series plasma for gaming. I spoke to Panasonic tech today. The rep told me for the break in period to avoid vivid mode, and to avoid picture formats other than 'Full'. Anyways, I would err on the side of cautioin and employ some break in guidelines.

  • My parents bought a plasma 3D TV and when I played games on it... WOW! The visuals are crystal clear! I love gaming on it a lot! But I have an LCD TV which is 2 years old now and I hate LCDs now after playing on the plasma TV! Thankfully I'm getting a plasma 3D TV after the summer holidays (I think)

And I doubt somebody wouldn't get their plasmas burned in after leaving an Xbox 360 menu on for the whole night. It's impossible!

  • I bought my 55' plasma five years ago and I'm a gamer so I want to play games in there highest quality so I'm thinking of buying a 1080p HD LCD Ive noticed 'burn in' with my plasma. What is really better for games?

  • @ZaneOneTwo

Don't confuse "image retention" with "burn in," Image retention is temporary and can usually be "whitewashed" away, burn in is permanent.

It's hard to actually burn an image in on newer plasmas, they've gotten that much better.

    Hope that helps,

  • I just bought a 42 inch LG 42PJ350....is it good for gaming?

  • @crutchfieldtv

I noticed input lag when i play Black Ops on any console on the LCD or PLASMA.. but NO input lag on the CRT TVs...

There's a delay in response time on the LCD and Plasmas but none on the CRT TVs i used.

Which exact HD TV would give no input lag when playing FPS games like Black Ops or Modern Warfare 2?

  • @schwarzegeld20

Did you select gaming mode on the LCD and Plasma TVs you tried this on? If not, please go back and try that, it usually fixes the lag issue.

If that doesn't fix it, you might check with other gamers to see what their preference is.

Any gamers out there want to respond?

    CrutchfieldTV

  • @crutchfieldtv What that guy says is correct Cause i played Call of Duty For more then 2 Years on a '' fat '' Phillips Tv and 1 year ago i had a new one. a little LED tv , 19 inch, And i just can't play Call of Duty anymore cause it seems that your controller is responding slower then on a old ''fat'' tv. What do i need to do...

Ps: Sorry for my Bad English Cause im From Belgium.

    Please reply Crutchfield.

    Greetings.

  • @ps3freak007

If your 19 inch LCD/LED TV has a game mode, try using that. If not, you may have no way of turing off the internal processing that causes the lag, and it's time for a new TV for COD.

    Good luck,

  • @schwarzegeld20 hey im a gamer too. i have 2 tvs one panasonic viera 30 inch. it has no lagg and i have it in gaming mode. i also have a samsung led tv (thin tv) and it has MUCH better graphics and no lagg.

  • Hello im currently in the market for a tv. The primary use for this tv shall GAMING. I know plasma are overall better than LEDs with better black levels and faster response. However, my only concern with plasma tv is "Burn ins". I normally for hours on my system and was wondering if Plasma would suffer from burn ins after hours and hours of gaming? Should i go LEDs instead? your input is greatly appreciated.

  • @psaeclipse

I think you need to watch this video (the one you commented on) again, because in it, we specifically address your question.

    I hope that helps.

  • @crutchfieldtv Hi i just recently bought a LG 42PW450 42 Inch plasma screen tv and i would like to ask is this a decent tv for gaming ??

  • @Ian19950

I would think so, but you have the TV there, and i assume you have some games there. Give it a try and you can tell us what you think. You won't hurt it by playing games on it, and you'll probably like it a lot.

    CrutchfieldTV

  • @Ian19950 hey man, i just read your comment about your 42 inch tv. I'm thinking about getting a plasma to. Have you had any problems with it? Please reply. thanks

  • @MontageReflex After a month or two owning plasma ive gotta say they are one of the best tv you can get when it comes to bright vivid colours which makes gaming look immense

  • @Ian19950 Well i undestand it would be immense! Trust me my friend, the quality is the last of my worries. Seeing that your a Plasma user of two months. May i ask, do you know what input lag is? Is there any? and have you had issues with the burn in affect

  • Hy ! I want to tell u that i have a samsung LED and i play guitar hero 5 on it and is verrrrrrrryyyyy slow (i mean i got to heat the notes before they are shown on the screen). Can u suggest me what kind of LED\PLASMA tv to use ( it got to be faster ,if u know what i mean........)

  • @x5VNx

Have you tried putting it in gaming mode? This usually speeds up the response.

  • I really want to buy a plasma - a Samsung plasma. I don't want to do the "break-in" process though, but Samsung has said their plasmas don't need to be broken in. Is this true?

  • @taxfactor

Good news man, no "break-in" period is necessary on TVs that we know of. You can feel free to start watching it all you want right out of the box. Set the settings however you want, and have fun!

If you were referring to "calibration" some people have professionals come in and muck around with the settings, but it's not usually necessary. You can get the TV from us, and call our Tech Support line for free for help setting it up.

  • @crutchfieldtv how about LGs?

  • @TheUniverseExists

They are awesome! I am not kidding or just saying that because we carry them. I've seen all these TV's up close and my personal favorite is the LG.

But here's the thing, I can't say the LG is the right TV for you without talking to you and finding out how you plan to use the TV. We ask lots of questions when helping people pick out the right TV for them.

  • Hi, sorry but I have to disagree... it's easy to get gaming burn in on a plasma tv.

I have my PC connected to my Hitachi P50V702 50-Inch 1080p Plasma and I play hours of StarCraft2. During gameplay, there is a "resources/info" window frame surrounding the action.. so there is always a static window. Several types of games do this, including popular games like Warcraft..

Long story short.. i have burn in that I have been unable unable to get rid of.. so get an LCD or LED/LCD in my opinion.

  • @AndurilNarsil1

OK, couple things. Your plasma is over 3 years old, and the anti burn in technology has gotten better in the last several years, one of the reasons we say that newer plasmas don't have burn in issues.

Also, there's "image retention" (can be "whitewashed if your TV has the feature) and there's "burn-in" which is permanent.

We don't carry Hitachi, not sure if you can "whitewash" or not, check your owner's manual.

  • Lcd is way better

  • @kiddarkness2012

Samsung plasmas are fine for gaming.

    CrutchfieldTV

  • @crutchfieldtv

    Thanks. ;)

  • Cheaper OLED displays will make this comparison/debate obsolote. Awesome times are coming!

  • I have a 7 year old pioneer plasma and I leave my xbox on the party chat screen for sometimes hours and have never had burn in ... why would anyone buy a tv for how thin it is and before anyone says for wall mounting I think a tv sitting on a nice entertainment display case looks better then any wall mount ... PLASMA FTW

  • STOP TALKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey im in a bit of a toss here :/ .. im about to get a tv i dunno what one yet all ino is ill be playing ps3 ... i thrash gt5 so much my old lil box tv has shit its self lol im in between the samsung plasma 3d 58' ... or the sony 46' lcd led 3d .. please help me ? :D both are full HD of course lol :D

  • @UnBoxMeNow go for the plasma

  • @UnBoxMeNow

for me, the choice would be simple, the Samsung 58" plasma, bigger, more awesome and looks great with games. Might want to wait until the 2011 models are out to make a final decision, but that's the direction I would be heading if I were you.

  • hi can u help me choosing between the panasonic th p42 v20 d and lg 50pk550 i am staying in india

  • @divinesahil dont get lg to much input lag for gaming. get panasonic!

  • Please repond! Is the frame rate a problem for lcd tvs when it comes to gaming? What is the frame rate compared to a older tv befor they got so slim?

  • @CAvideoz short answer.... the best tv for gaming right now are panasonic plasmas or a crt televison, the best rated Led/lcd for gaming is Sharp, some tvs just do it better than others, panasonic and sharp hover around 15-30ms or less while gaming while lg and samsung 30-60ms or more, switching to game mode or turning off picture enhancers help with input lag

  • @CAvideoz

Sorry for the delay in the response. I went on a ski trip and forgot to find a replacement You Tube Commenter responder person. I'm back, and here's the answer, Samsung and Sony don't give Pixel response time any more, and the frame rate is usually 60 hz when it game mode.

    Hope that helps,

    CrutchfieldTV

  • I was told by my friends that LCDs aren't good for gaming because of the framerate being to slow, and not being able to keep up with the games.

    Is that true?

  • I keep hearing that Plasma need a break in period of 100 hours min because it is a young plasma is this true or false, it almost seems to be an opinion rather then a fact, I'm not sure on what to do, I just purchased the Panasonic G25, for everyone I had talked to said that I couldn't go wrong for Panasonic, for they were the best with regards to Plasma TV's, I guess I just want to break it correctly. Any thoughts??
