  • Nice piece. I've always want to have one in my collection. Its a fun shoot. I had shoot one quit a few yrs back and always had fund memories if it. Like the S.S myself also. Enjoy it.

  • Im looking into buying a rifle( I have 2 .22's now), and im really interested in getting one of these someday. Would you recommend buying it? Also how much do the 10 round mags run? Because I'd probably get the one that comes with the 5 round mag and then get the 10 round mag because Im not really into having a 20 round mag, which is what the other version comes with.

  • @vroomba03 I would definitely buy it. The 10 round mags run about 25.00 for the ruger brand.

  • @vroomba03 i own one, and yes, i love it. mags i hear good things about the tapco gen 2 mags, i got the 30 rounders from ruger for about 35$ each or tapco's are about umm,, 15$ for 30 rds'ers, ati stock is great just seems to make gun heavy. scope rings are steel, serial number 580-xxxx is the newer ones, better barrel

  • btw this is a series 580 ranch riffle

  • @g82mthrapp thanks for the info.

  • @WALLYMART5587 to clarify mini 14 ranch riffle as shone can shoot the 5.56 nato ammo as stated by ruger. the target model does not have enough headspace for the high pressures of the nato ammo do to its tighter specs you will ware out the chamber loosing accuracy...

  • @notanotherCoDfan i have both and i would have to go with an ar15 mags are easy to find and alot cheaper and reliable, but im a hunter so i use the mini for that pow and ar15 for home defense and lots of target practice and ar15 got 22lr conversion makeing it very cost affective for us broke people. for

  • @g82mthrapp If you are not in cali get a ar15, It is a little heavier but at least as accurate as the mini. If you are in cali get the mini. The bullet button is a bunch of crap and makes an ar15 almost useless.

  • using a dirty butter knife to show parts of the gun. smh

  • @TrendyBarracuda It was a letter opener. I had just cleaned the rifle and didn't want to get it dirty with my oily fingers on the video.

  • ok for dependability and combat puposes: should i go with a mini14 or an AR15 that is the same price as the mini? im poor :(

  • @notanotherCoDfan Out of California get an ar15 in cali get the mini.

  • @jnpiel ie nutnfancy does a great review on those tapco mags

  • @g82mthrapp Yes I saw it. They are very nice.

  • ii have precision 30rd mags that dont feed well with .223 if i use 5.56 nato works great i also use a bushnell banner

  • @g82mthrapp hey I bought a few tapco 30rd mags and have had no jams or issues in about 1000 rds

  • @g82mthrapp cool

  • @sportpepr509 yes it will shoot nato 5.56

  • @g82mthrapp Thanks

  • Will it shoot 5.56 x 45 ammo or only 223? Because there is aslight difference

  • @sportpepr509 I'll have to check and get back to you. I don't really know. Good question.

  • @sportpepr509 I have one it shoots both

  • @sportpepr509 Only shoots .223, shooting a 5.56 round out of a strictly .223 rifle can severely damage it,

  • After listening to this I want to shoot myself.

  • @jsharbour That is not legal!

  • Were u in Corrections?

  • @neckarsulme yes

  • Good review.....I think you can get a muzzle brake instead of a flash supressor in Calif.

  • @neckarsulme Who sells them?

  • @neckarsulme Yes you can get a muzzle break instead of a flash hider out here in Commiefornia. All the compliant M1As have muzzle breaks in stead of flash hiders.

  • I think this is a great review. You spend a good deal of time on the features. the .223 is far superior to the x39 30. More range, bullet tumble. Love the bolt. The new ones are fantastically improved upon in manufacturing processes and regularily hit 2" or less with hornady at a braced standing position. My bud Kevin, does it every time at 100 yards. He's a competition shootist though. Said as a survival rifle, nothing else compare when it comes to maintainance. I take his word as gospel

  • @bluestudio67 The mini is a great and reliable semi auto rifle for the 223. Like I said they are extreemly accurate to 300 yards and even more so at 100 yards. I used to put out a tight pattern from a standing position with iron sights at work.

  • @wcopeland38 Yep :) The detractors are the folks who've either never handled them in country, or do not know how to shoot well. There's riflemen, and then there's a man with a rifle. I've been eyeing the Scout a lot lately. With all the improvements ruger has made on the mini's, there isn't much need to look further. Btw, I am a Ruger man, through and through.... if ya couldn't tell. They're popular for a dang good reason. Keep the reviews coming :)

  • I like the way you pick and poke at it with that knife.

  • @realracebikes Yes it is very forgiving.

  • My 14 and 30 have factory wood stocks. I'm totally content.

  • why did you make the video without being knowledgeably about what you were going to discuss?

  • @as072091 why did you make a comment when you don't know how to spell?

  • @wcopeland38 classic question with a question. last time i checked this was youtube not english class.

  • You are proof of that!

  • @wcopeland38 keep those rounds boat tailing.lol

  • @as072091 Smarter than the average bear! LOL

  • Trying to decide between getting this gun or Kel Tec SU-16

  • @ThaGVPSon If you are not in ca, get the Kel Tec

  • Barrel whipping has been eliminated with the new heavy barrels. Also the MINI 14 tac with the shorter barrel even better. I am never moving to CALI ever.

  • @MrAppleseed88 Ditto out asap

  • Man I am so glad you did not get rid of your MINI. I just bought an AIMPOINT 9000sc 2 MOA red dot for mine. I live it.

  • @MrAppleseed88 Me too!

  • I love some Mini 14s. They are fun to shoot. Thanks for the sharing!

  • @LegendSexy No problem.

  • What branch were you in?

  • @beasley822 LE

  • Just got one for me & son. Coyote. Like your video. Made son watch. Can't stress how dangerous this gun is. Ty for telling story about Guy who got shot. He is a young man. & I'm very proud of him. Trapping. Like young boys should do. Learn nature & the respect it deserves & the gun. Ty

  • @wade5416 Thank you for the comment bro.

  • sorry my friend but this is nit the ranch rifle, this is the tactical series, the ranch series came in ONLY wood stocks, but this rifle is still an amazing weapon.

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 Well thanks for the info. That was how it was advertised. I still love it and it shoots excellent. PS too bad it doesn't have the flash supressor.

  • @wcopeland38

i know that would be awesome, PS where did you buy this rifle?

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 Big 5 it was about 700.00

  • @wcopeland38 Thanks for the info.

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 Any time! I love these rifles. I used one at work for many years.

  • @wcopeland38 Where did you work.

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 I'm retired now! :-)

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 I just checked the Ruger Website and they list it as a "Ranch Rifle". I'm not worried. I do wish it had the wood stocks, they look better. Wood stocks are only with the blue barrel from Ruger. Bummer.

  • @wcopeland38 Hmm..... perhaps i was wrong, well sorry for the un-accurate info then.

  • @DukeOfTennessee117 Are you in California?

  • @wcopeland38 LOL NA i am from Tennessee (check my name)

  • nice review, i have about 810 doller at Cabelas for a new gun i am going to try and get a M4 but if i can find the one i am wanting i as thinking about a mini but i herd the mini 30 is chamberd for a 7.62x39 so would that be good? PS. i am looking for a more tactical weapon and id like a heavy barrel with that barrel stablizer for the mini 30...

  • @APhelps91 I don't think Ruger is making the mini 30 anymore. I like the Mini 14 because of the rifle and ammo cost.. If you get a rifle in the 7.62x39 cal make sure to check and see if it is the corrosive type. That ammo comes out of the Ukraine. Good luck.

  • Neither

  • @wcopeland38, Do you work at Corcoran 1 or 2?

  • Central Cali

  • what part of Cali u in? im in San Diego

  • Thanks for the info. Where did you order them from?

  • Very true. For me it is just a personal choice.

  • Don't use Steel cases. Most are corrosive from Europe

  • @wcopeland38 Nothing wrong with using steel cases if you don't mind cleaning your gun a bit more

  • @wcopeland38

    I use nothing but.

Minis love 25 cent/round steel cased stuff, especially in the 62gr variety which the Russians offer at the same cost as their 55gr. And none of it is corrosive. You're thinking of soviet Military-issue ammo. The Wolf/Tulammo/Bear/Tiger/etc stuff is commercial.

  • Just ordered mine. Any comments about shooting steel case ammo? Actually, would appreciate any comments on ammo for the mini 14. Thanks

  • Very soon I hope.

  • wcopeland38

any chance of a range report?

    MiniSix8

  • I love a Mini-14, matter of fact it's my next video,lol. :)
