My Escort when it just had a K&N drop-in and chip to remove the governor and increase rev limit to 7,150rpm was beating similar year model Si Civics. I bought it in 2005 with 57,000 on it for $6000 and was beating similar year model Civics that cost $9000 used. 130hp 130tq from the factory and only weighed 2400lbs, 15.9 1/4 stock and got 36mpg highway. Sounds like a good investment to me?
The difference is I only invested $3000 in my $6000 car and had about 165hp. I was beating 200hp cars that cost twice as much as mine, and still got 37-38mpg on the highway. Show me a 165hp Civic that can run 14.6 1/4 mile, that's right, you can't. The RX-8 when it 1st came out in 2004 had 230+hp, cost $26000+ and ran a 14.5 1/4 mile? So, my $9000 incl mods Escort with 165hp was alot better investment. Take your 2" pencil thick dickand get back in your RX-7, I don't need to compensate.

He had a shorty header, aftermarket exhaust, and CAI. We raced before I even did the head and CAM work, pure bolt on for bolt-on race, plus my chip and UDP. So my 130hp stock + bolt-ons Scort beat his 165hp stock Si + bolt-ons. Mistake up above, the 99 Si ran the 1/4 in 15.5, not 14.9, typo on my part. Going from a 16.1 1/4 to a 14.6 in my Scort is a big accomplishment, a full second and a half better from roughly 40hp modifications.

Anyone running under 200hp I mopped the floor with. Civics, bolt-on Civics, Si Civics, Integras, Eclipse, Talons, Audis, Celicas, 924 and 944 Porsche, VR6 1.8Ts and GTIs, GT Sunfires and Z24s.
